Woman who answered at the 217 number was nice.  They claim to be a "non- for profit".  (Me fail English? That's un-possible.)

Received a call very early in the AM, by a very unprofessional man who wanted only to speak
with The Owner and asked if I was that individual.
Apprantly I didn't respond fast enough and was told
in a tone reserved only for The IRS, to identify myself and
confirm if I was the owner. The caller the abruptly hung up.
What a way to start the day!!!  :-)

I have received calls from the above number and directly after not answering that number I am now getting a call from 618-240-5276 within a minute.  Kind of strange, have reported the last number.

Just got a call from this number.. when I said I was not interested... he threatened me by saying that all this will be reported to the state attorney.. If he thinks threatening me will get anything he is quite mistaken!!

Brother in law, a police officer, said never to donate to these supposed police charities.  Said they are scams and a large percentage of the money donated goes to the administrators.  I always tell these callers to send me their finacials detailing how much actually goes to the charity, and that pretty much shuts them up.

I just got a call from the same number, and when asked what this was regarding, all he kept saying is that he needs to speak with Russ. I asked what company he's calling from, which is when he got rude and kept saying he needed to speak with Russ. I don't play these games, and am running a business, so an open line is very important to me. When he (called himself Brian Dashner) kept repeating what he said, I kept repeating what I was saying, which did not make him happy, but he was already rude, so what do I care. He said he will call me back later to speak with the owner. He will not be getting anywhere due to the fact I just blacklisted his number on my cell so all he'll be getting will be a busy signal from now on. Also, thanks to "gg" on here, I was able to call the actual association (217.523.3765) and explain to them that if the people were not so rude over the phone, they may have actually gotten a donation from some people, but judging from this site and so many complaints, they are not doing so good. Also, had the actual association remove my number from their list and they should not be calling anymore either way. Also, he said he will take care of it on his end from now on. Not sure if he will, but between the blacklisting and them removing me from their list, I don't expect any more phone calls. Blacklist app is only $0.99 and worth every penny, and get yourself removed from their list by calling the 217 number above.

Just called the number back - Illinois Chiefs of Police and got a recording of a guy who talked very softly and fast, but....if you call 1-800-379-2098 you can listen to their menu and have the option of being put on their do not call list. Be sure you are calling from the phone whose number you want removed, and make sure it is not blocked, and they claim you will be put on their list. Lotsa luck!

I just got the same call!!! Person has been calling my cell for weeks and never leaves a message. Finally answered today and the guy was incredibly rude and demanded to talk to the owner. I kept askign what he wanted and he was so rude and would not elaborate. Finally I told him my business was shut down 6 months ago and  there is no new owner and he hung up on me. This is harrasment

several calls - I suspect they are a process server checking to see if you are around

We have recieved numerous calls from different non-profits at our home number.  Initially I tried the civilized route and asked to be taken off their calling list.  Got to speak to a supervisor who asked if they could call me next year and I said "No".  Apparently, that doesn't matter because they are calling again.  I have blocked the numbers on my phone.  Each time it is an unknown number or local area call I let it go to voice mail.....

Someone keeps calling from this number, but no one says anything and eventually they hang up.

I have the number saved in caller ID and listed the name as "crank call" so when they call I just don't answer it. This has worked with 5 other numbers.

This number keeps calling and calling and NOONE is on the other end. Dead air then a click disconnecting. Comes up "local area call" and the area code is no where near us, local my butt!! We are on the Do Not Call list and this doesn't seem to matter with all the soliciting calls we get here, not quite sure what the do not call list is good for yet. Hate the interruptions from no nonsense calls who don't talk.

They didn't even know what town I am in. Very rude and they lied. Hung up on them and started to do some checking and look what I found.

The company that is doing this telemarketing is called sound-tel (sound-tele.com) based in seattle. look it up. better yet give them a call directly and tell them how you feel. (425) 392-3120

This number called me today. When I first picked up I heard nothing and then a click and a man's voice came on the line asking to speak with the owner of the company. I suspected this was a telemarketing or scam caller so I pretended not to hear him and kept asking "hello?" and "is anyone there?" and then I stated, "please call back; I cannot hear you". The man on the other end sounded very polite and said he would call back and sorry. I then looked up the number and read all these comments about this being from The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, so my suspicions are probably correct that he was just trying to get money out of us, possibly donations. So far, any call that I receive where I do not hear anything at first and then a click have all been from telemarketing type callers.

Update to my previous post. Tried answering the call - heard a series of beeps. Tried answering and rapidly pressing the * button - did not get rid of them. This number calls me every day. I have named it "Nuisance" in my list, so I can see the caller without looking closely at the number, and can ignore.

they call two and three times a day, when you try to call it back they say they are fome police chief assocoaition wanting money its a recornding

They call me everyday. They don't leave a message. Soooo annoying!

Got a call from this number yesterday. Called it back and it said it was from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police or something like that, very hard to hear the recorded message. The recording also gave a 1-800-379-2098 "customer care" call back number. The guy I talked to (I got a name but I figure it's fake) was the rudest person ever. First he asked to speak to an ex employee that he apparently had on record as being the owner. When I told him she was not, he demanded to know the owner's name and when I asked him who he was calling on behalf of he got extremely rude with me. Last I checked we have a right to know that? I also informed him we were on the do not call list (and we are). He completely ignored that. Going to look into it further today and hopefully file a report if I get enough information.

This is the police fund raiser people.  They call my office several times per day.  Even though I've asked to be taken off their call list.

Been getting repeated calls from this number on our home phone, asking for my husband. The guy on the phone won't talk to me. When I asked if I could take a message he mumbled and said he'd try back later. When I asked for a name I could tell he quickly made one up: Howard. They are so unprofessional, and I suspect they are calling because two years ago my husband donatd to the chiefs of police, if thats even who they are.

Rude gentlemen called looking for the owner of the company. When I asked what it was regarding, he said "a civic matter" and he was from a sheriff's assocication or something. He kept at it, very persistent. He even told me how to answer the phone in the event someone called looking for the owner again. Yea right, next time listen for the click/dial tone buddy!

I just got a call at my office asking for the owner about "a civic matter" also. He left a name Matthew Defrenne but wouldn't leave a call back number.
