These people keep calling my phone saying I am on a ticket boot list in Lansing Il. I asked for a statement to be mailed out to my house out lining this and they refuse to send me any documentation showing this. They also won't set up a payment plan only based on what they want and how they want the money. So I am not sure if they are legit or not but the customer service skills are horrible. They are RUDE and very Ignorant when calling.

SCAM....don't call them back.  They state they are calling in regards to a municipal code violation.  We don't live in a municipality.  Then, I checked on-line and saw the notes from other people.  

We receive approximately 4-5 calls a week from this number.  Each voice mail states that they are calling from the MCOA regarding a municipal violation, but they never state who they're calling for.  Such a scam.  They didn't even leave a name of whom they were trying to reach and our VM message is just the automated one that states our number is not available to take the phone call.

They called today - said to hit 1 if I would like to talk to someone - recording said that they were trying to collect a debt (I have none) - clicked 1 - and the line went dead. Called them back - said that they were looking for a Jade Harris - I said that there was no one here by that name - said that they would update the information saying that it was a wrong number.

I never entertain these scum bags, I hang up and block them.

I don't have any debt! You try to ask questions that won't answer. This a scam to try to collect information for their personal use!

This was a legitimate call from Municipal Collections. I was called in regards to a sewer bill I'd forgotten to pay. Jennifer had all the pertinent information, took my payment, provided me with a confirmation number as well as her last name.

This number has called me the last few days and I'm so glad to see this posting! They say they are from MCOA and need to deal with an urgent matter. The number is 708-455-4046 and I know I don't have any debts etc. I feel like this needs to be taken care of by people above us that have to deal with this daily!!

Some man called and asked for 'Melissa Shroeder'. I told him there was no one here by that name. "No?" he asked in a sarcastic. "Do you know her?" I said I'd never heard of anyone by that name. "Well, you're no help to me at all, are you?" he said. He then hung up.

My mom received a call to her cell phone from this place asking for my dad. They said he never paid a red light violation from 2011 and had to pay $200 ASAP. My mom was about to pay the "bill" by phone. I told her to wait, we never received anything by mail and it didn't make sense she wouldn't give us anymore information about this violation and they also sounded so unprofessional. The crazy thing is that they have our personal information like our address. I'm going to the police department tomorrow to make sure nothing is owened. But according to everyone here this is nothing but a scam! Thank god we didn't give them any other information.  

i recieved a letter from these people so i decided to call them. i have 5 tickets for not having a city sticker for the year of 2011, 12, 13. i ask her how much the ticket was and she said 2,675.00. i told her i am a senior and i am on a fixed income. i told her i can pay a litlle every month until paid. but then why do i owe so much. she told me i had to pay half witch 1,360.00 by the 28th or they will tow my car. the car that the tickets are on i sold it last year, so they say they will tow my new car if i don't pay the full amount. this is park forest. atlease i am trying to pay but why so much for the tickets.i get ssi once a month and i am on a fixed income. i can't pay that kind of money. i have my rent, car note, car insurance, light, gas, water, and food. i don't get but 1.200.00 a month.

I am receiving bogus calls from 708-455-4047 asking for my sone, who never lived at this address nor used this number saying it was an urgent business matter.

There is nothing to this request ... And we don't know who MCOA is.

THESE PEOPLE KEEP CALLING AND HANGING UP WHEN i ANSWER. THIS IS VERY RUDE, AND THEY CALL AT 7:00 IN THE MORNING. WHO DOES THAT.

I've got 3 of such calls from MCOA in a week. They'd left a prerecorded message about "municipal violations". For all I know, anything important comes in the mail besides not being in debt, so I thought these messages a complete scam. And I would very much like to sue the Municipal Collections of America Inc. for violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act!

Got a call saying I owed $270 for a red light ticket.  I asked for proof, they send me a Gatso citation that confirmed my vehicle ran a red light.  Turns out my son was driving and he stupidly grabbed the original notices from the mail and threw them away thinking nobody would find out.  I have never had to deal with a collection agency before, but these people were professional and provided me with the proof I needed to fix the problem my son created.  I was able to take care of the problem before it affected my credit.

Never picked up the call.  Luckily I saw the posts here, they are still calling people...be aware!

They are indeed a collection company. Per their website, they mainly deal with municipalities who turn the debt over for collections.  If they are calling the wrong number looking for someone then all you have to do is tell them that the individual is not associated with your phone number and that they are not to contact you anymore.

If you think you may actually owe a debt to a municipality (City, County, etc.) then talk to them and ask that they send proof of the debt. If you owe it, pay it. If you don't owe it, you can still tell them to not call you again and, per the fair debt collection act, they may no longer contact you via phone. NOTE: If you owe the debt and do this, there are other things that can be done to you by them.

RECEIVED  CALL & LEFT MESSAGE TO CALL BACK MCOA

I have a freind getting this phone call about me she didn't remember the number so i looked up mcoa and seen this there telling her it's a municipality violation I don't know for what and they won't tell her anything

This debt collection company disguised themselves as a official goverment establishment in Chicago, IL stating a violation occured.  After call them to correct this information they were in search of someone to collect a debt and "Lisa" stated they were not really in Chicgo.  This person sounded as they she was awakened from her sleep and did a poor job of covering up the dishonest from the claims they made to get a call back.  Big SCAM.

Received a message on my answering machine stating that I had a Municipality violation.  The name they left was MCOA.  I have not been in the Chicago area and would not have any violations.  The message was very fast spoken and detailed no further information.

This company called my home looking for my husbands ex-wife.  I have lived in my home at the same number for 15 years and his ex-wife  has never lived at my address or had my number.  When I asked questions about how they got my number, I suggested that either they screwed up or the ex-wife (Sheri) gave them our number.  The rep: "Kylee, stated, "exactly."  which meant nothing.  If they made the mistake, she should have just said so, and all would have been dropped, but to illude to the fact that the ex-wife may have provided the information (which is harassment) then I feel they should have made it clear.  When I aked Kylee what the name of the company was, she advised me that she did not have to give it to me and then she hung up on me.  (Again Kylee escalated the situation, when all she had to do was to provide the name)  I called back and spoke with a "Toni" In a rather rude manner she reluctantly gave me the acronym, MCOA, and when I asked what that stood for she refused and hung up. (For a third time, they were rude without cause)   I called back demanding to speak witch a manager and after much resistance, I was put on hold.  (Yet another rude tactic)  I called back and was referred to a manager, but I was sent directly to a voice mail.   Again, I  called back and was finallyy put through to a manager.  A man named "Jeff"   He reiterated what his service reps advised and threatened me with harassment and he hung up on me.  I called back and they immediately put me through to "Jeff or the manager"  I asked what his legal right was to deny me the name of their company, he advised me that MCOA was their legal name and to look it up for myself. (Ok...if MCOA was their legal name and it was a matter of public information as to who they were and what they did, why did they act so rudely?  Would it not have been better to just provide the information and end the contact???/)  I did, and found them to be a company that collects for states/cities on unpaid moving violations.  I contacted the Attorney Generals office and will be filing a report.  If the city of Des Moines feels it is necessary to have these traffice devices, then our citizens deserve better than to have a company like MCOA to collect for them.  They are rude, unprofessiofnal, theatening and offer what I deem to be poor service.  I encourage everyone who comes into contact with this agency when they behave in this manner to contact their Attorney Generals office and file  complaint.  This company should loose their contracts with all cities where they treat the citizens with such disdain and Jeff or the manager should be fired!

Claiming Municipal Vilotion. Called 2 or 3 times this week left msg on anwering machine. I refuse to call this number back and just delete the msg as I feel that this is some sort of scam with the holidays just around the corner. If I had a problem my village would contact me directly.

I had outstanding Parking tickets for village of worth and MCOA said they were their collection agency and if I didnt pay my license would be suspended. I didnt pay and my license was suspended so I had to go on payment plan with them but they show me no proof of tickets and every month they claim a new ticket from different towns come through. I owe a total of $3200. I missed one payment and they re suspended my license. They call me harassing me every week even tho I tell them it'll take me a few months to pay it. This lady is very rude and treatens me with wage garnishment and says she doesn't want to here my reasoning for not paying! How is this legit to show no paperwork or receipts of my payments but I'm expected to pay to reinstate my license?

MCOA, Municipal Collections of America, called my mother claiming she had 2 unpaid red light tickets in Illinois.  She lives in Florida.  I called them back and they were a little defensive.  I asked how they got her number and they said it was a mistake and would remove it.  But when I asked who they were they only want to tell me they worked with municipalities.  I persisted and Latoya said the company was MCOA.  I asked what MCOA stood for and she didn't want to tell me.  She asked what it mattered if they were taking the number off of their records.  I asked why she was reluctant to tell me the name of the company.  She finally did and then asked if she could hang up now.  We ended the call and I looked them up online.  It does appear they are a collection agency for municipalities, but I do think they phish for information.  They wanted to know my mother's name and address and I declined to provide it.  I was calling from the number they called, so they could look up their information.  I just wanted to make sure they were legitimate.  

These people need a f-n life!

I have been called twice, each time leaving a message by a nice sounding lady saying to call MCOA back regarding a speeding enforcement system citation from Forest Heights, MD.  The call back number that she leaves is 708-455-4046.  I plan to report this directly to the local government at Forest Heights.  I hope they can make a complaint too, since this is fraud, someone is trying to collect bogus fines on their behalf and in their name.
