They called and said that I had dropped an entry slip in the last 18 months and that I had 48 hours to keep my "number" valid for a car give-away promotion.  Sounds fishy...

I got the same call this morning from Tina something or other.....saying this was the 2nd time I had been called and I needed to call the number within 48 hours or be passed over.  It was supposedly about a Jif contest that I entered within the last l8 months and my phone number.  Of course, the phone number to call was an answering service and never any return call.   So much for privacy from these scam calls!

This is another annoying time share scam.  They left several messages saying that my number was entered to win a car in the last 18 months and that I had 48 hours to claim my prize.  Tina something or other from Dick's promotions.  I did not answer, hopefully after that "important 48 hour period"  they will stop calling.

Soooo annoying!  how many times do we have to sign up for the do not call list.

Despite the fact I have been on the National Do Not Call phone list for years, I have been getting strange phone calls for years. Tina Pratt at 708-897-0018 just left me her phony phone call.

Most of my strange calls is from a "no name" collection agency looking for a "Michael Stone." The call does not identify himself or the company that is making the calls.
I do not have that name "Michael Stone." Never did. No one in my family tree by that name. But they keep sending someone new to call me looking for him. Some years ago two men called and were convinced they had the wrong number and apologized to my family. That was nice. They said Michael Stone was working in San Francisco and walked away with stocks and bonds worth millions. But then months later the phone calls returned. I tell them to google my phone number and you will know I am not Michael Stone.
I use to make phone calls for Automobile Assoc. of America, but these people....
They are the most righteous group of idiots.

I agree entirely EZDZIT!  It is a timeshare scam.  You may actually win a prize of a trip with airfare and hotel, but they will rope you into some timeshare deal.  I got the call this morning.  Mine was from Gift Promotions with a caller ID of 708-748-9462.  The person is Cod Lee or Sam Key or something similar like that and wanted me to call 888-927-7439 X100.  I googled around and found many people back in 2008 complaining of the same exact ploy with a Sam Key leaving the message.  Person sounded like an older African-American woman (deep, smokey voice).

David, be careful.  I realize you took the time to go to that presentation and you still won something.  But I have been doing research and it appears this scam has been going on since 2008.  It is a timeshare company scam.  Have you used your prize yet?  If not, you will probably find that the trip is indeed legitimate but that they will try to sell you a timeshare during the "mandatory meetings or presentations". Good luck!  My parents got roped into a timeshare when my brother supposedly won a trip to the Bahamas several years ago.  Now all they want is to get rid of their timeshare and just can't.

Received a similar voice mail message this morning saying that I am a finalist in my entry to win a Ford Explorer or a Lincoln Navigator and to call them back ASAP for the good news.  The person stated his/her name was Sam Key or Cod Lee (was hard to understand).
Caller ID showed Gift Promotions with a 708-748-9462 number.

After some online research, others "victims" stated that they had called back a similar number in years past and they say that they want you to sit in on a meeting at a specific location and listen to a new company's presentation then at the end you will get a scratch off ticket letting you know which of 4 prizes you have won....  it may apparently be a timeshare company scam.  I did not call the number back because I did not want to put myself in the position of having to give out any specific personal information if it appears to be a scam anyway.

This is a marketing ploy to get people to sit for a 90 minutes presentation on a time share.  The caller does not know who the are calling thus the greeting "Hello Folks".  They say you entered a contest for   a New Lincoln Navigator or $45K (I choose if I win the top prize)  which you have not yet won, but you have already won a gift worth $500.00, 3 day, 2 night trip for two to Las Vegas (this is where they pitch you) or $2,500 cashier check or 32 inch Toshiba Flat Screen TV.  My call was from "Tony Stevens" but the name is unimportant.  If you have good sales resistance and can say NO NO NO NO NO until they let you leave it is worth a return call...

No one wins the car!

Got the same call yesterday on my answering machine.  DEEPLY appreciate the information found here - with me, also, the non-toll-free number shouted scam.  Glad to have spent two minutes on this, rather than any more time.

Got an automated call last night which I left for my voicemail to pick up and the message was from a "Tina Pratt from Gift Promotions" saying that it was their 2nd attempt trying to contact me regarding an entry I filled out in the last eighteen months to put me in a drawing for a "BRAND NEW AUTOMOBILE".  The message then went to say that I had 48 hours to get back in touch with them or I'd lose out on the opportunity.

I did call the return number stated at the end of the message which I dialed this afternoon.  The call went straight to an automated voicemail system and it seems the owner of the number is some male who works with "Special Promotions".  I did not leave a message.

Thanks David for being the trooper and providing this information to us. I've received several of these calls, but always deleted them, for I haven't registered for any free trips in over 5 years. I figured there would be some strings attached. Thanks again for providing the information.

I went to the presentation,  They told me that I was not in their age demographic, but that was not my fault.  So they gave me the scratch off anyway.  The salesperson seemed very honest.  I "won" the 3 day 2 night stay in a hotel and air fare.  He told me that there are a whole bunch of hoops I need to get through to get the packages, but they are worth it.  It can just be a nuisance putting it together initially.  That was it.  I was in and out in about 10 minutes.  It sounded like if I was in their age demographic, they would pitch some kind of vacation package club to me.  According to the salesperson, who had no reason to lie at this point, they do give away all of those prizes I mentioned earlier, but your chances greatly diminish as the prize value increases.

Same thing here.  I did all back.  I talked to "James Gore."  He said he's Tina (or Gina) Pratt's assistant.  You could hear that it was a call center by the noise in the background.  He said I already won one of the following:
New Lincoln Navigator or $45K (I choose if I win the top prize)
$2,500 cashier check
3 day, 2 night trip for two to Las Vegas or Orlando including air fare and hotel
32 inch Toshiba Flat Screen TV.
He said there are not high pressure sales tactics.  I will receive a scratch off style card to tell me what I've won, but that I will definitely win one of those prizes.  I get the ticket after the 90 minute presentation.
What I wonder now is, how many of each prize is there.  If I get the trip, is it a trip to another presentation for time shares?
He gave me "his direct line" at 708.897.0019.  I asked about the odds for winning each prize.  He said it would be in the email he sent.  It wasn't.  I will give him a call today to tell him what I've found, ask about the odds again, and get more details on the trip.  My wife and I are supposed to go at 6PM today.  I'll update later on today.

I received the same message this morning.  I thought the key to this being a scam was that they said to call "toll free 708-897-0018".  That would not be a toll free call.
