Debt Collector
Help! I need some advice!
I received a phone call from my fiance's mother telling me a woman named Angela Posten had called her today regarding a debt with my older brother.  Mind you, me and my fiance are obviously not even married yet. My brother has never met my fiance's mother. She lives in Texas and we live in Florida. She called her asking if she knew my brother and said "well do you know his sister "and gave her my date of birth right off the bat! She told her yes she knew me and the woman Angela Posten claimed she needed to speak with my brother immediately. My fiance's mother said she does not know my brother and has never met him. When she called me I immediately hung up and called Angela asking her why she would call my fiance's mother looking for him. She spoke over me almost the entire time and also said "if you would hush your mouth and let me speak" also told me that my date of birth is public record and she did nothing wrong.  Very rude the whole time!  I want to know if I could go about filing a lawsuit on this company for giving my personal information out to my future in laws. How does she know what type of relationship I have with them?  I am disgusted how rude this lady was. Please someone answer me back.

Recieved a call today from Gregory Miller from Jordan and Associates.  He threatened about a debt he said I owed and told me to take out a loan from my bank to send him 2500.00.  He also threatened to serve me at home and work.  He was very unprofessional so I told him to serve me and I will go to court.  He became furious and unprofessional and Hung up on me.  Scam Artist!!!!!

I am currently going through the same situation.  The big deal s that over a year ago, I was scammed out of $1000 (I got it back) from a "Law Firm" in Florida. I relentlessly found them and got a letter from the state of Florida that they had been shut down and fined a large sum of money! Now, I am getting calls about this same "debt" from Ace Cash Express from three more places. Two were nice and non threatening. The third are these same people you are referring to. I am SO SICK of it! They are messing with the wrng person!

I have been harrassed by Assured Client Services as well. I was told that they needed an address so that I could get served a warrant by Jordan and assoc. I thought this was a scam.

I got a call at work, home and a virtual # from QLS (the company supposedly serving me) advising there was a failed attempt to serve me and to call Jordan Associates in Cali at 714-794-2686. I called and spoke with him and he verified my SSN. He explained that I "took" out a loan from Ace Cash Express for $350 in 2007 and that I now owe $2588 + not incl attorney's fees and court costs. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about and to send me proof. He rerouted me to Assured Client Services at 562-295-6415 and they said they don't need proof, just some special affidavit (I forgot the name) in order to take me to court. They told me to Google Ace and I did. I called them directly, they couldn't find me in their system (spoke to 3 diff reps before getting the legal dept) and they told me they've been getting a lot of scam info just like this. I'm getting proof from Ace that I have never taken a loan out with them. Whatever you do, don't even verify your social to JA and ACS!

CALL THE FTC!! I have done some research and this scam has ties to Gordon and Associates, Jordan and Associates, QSS, and Assured Client Services. If anyone named Chris Jensen, Gregory Burch, Tom Gabrial,David Silva, Rich Delgotto, Jon Garcia has called you then call the FTC!!

Don't pay them anything....they are scammers.

Someone from there companh will probably post on hear as a shill saying they were served and they wished they didn't listen to the people who said it was a scam.

No one tells you ahead of time your being served.  Tell them to validate the debt.  They never do.

For anyone else recieving this call...Try to get all of thier contact information. If these guys identify themselves as attorneys we can call the california state bar at 1-800-843-9053 and they can search to see if they are an actual attorney and/ or file a complaint. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!!!! I tried to call 714-388-6862 back today and got a voicemailbot. Lets do our best to run them into the ground.

Did you CALL the FTC? I called and explained exactly what happened. FTC told me that is illegal and sounds like a scam that was tried earlier in the year.  If they call again, let them know that you have notified the FTC regarding thier behavior and hang up. They will stop.

I recieved a few calls from this number. I called back and spoke with Gregory Burch (spelling?) from Jordan and Associates, a law firm. Rattled off case numbers and something about serving papers. Really? You dont tell someone you are gong to serve papers.  I am not going to go into detail about everything, but based on my research I cannot find a Jordan and Associates in California. This entire thing is a scam. I have yet to call California Bar and find out more. Reverse phone does not turn anything up. I have reported them to the FTC. I do have a fax number I was supposed to fax something to, but it belongs to Assured Client Services. That website is ran off of Blogger.com. I got the contact number as 866-876-6313 and fax number as 714-735-9452. I called contact number and got a recording of a person that sounds exactly the same as the Jordan and associates recording. They messed with the wrong person here. I will be notifying any authority I can and might even mess with them a little. Try to scare me....and I will gladly reciprocate. Join me in ruinng thier lives just as they tried with ours!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Same thing from Jordan and Associates, QSS attempt to collect a debt.  They were threatening arrest,
which is illegal.

    From the Federal Trade Commision
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
    you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
    they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law
                  to take the action and intend to do so; or
    legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take
    the action.
