This number is associated with Union Bank's Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Department.  It will call you but you cannot call it nor leave a message.  The caller does not leave messages because he/she is trying to reach a live person to discuss your account.  The call is not bogus nor spam.  In most cases, the aforementioned department is trying to verify transactions that have already occurred on one of your Union Bank accounts which have raised a red flag - usually large withdrawals of cash or other amounts which may or may not be regarded as attempts to avoid reporting rules which require the IRS to be notified when a transaction of $10,000 or more has been conducted in one transaction or in multiple transactions over a short time period.  The department may also call other companies as necessary to verify the legitimacy of large withdrawals to ensure unlawful activity is not taking place.  While some may regard this as an invasion of privacy, the actions of this and similar departments at other banks, are consistent with the condition and terms of the long-running Federal Bank Secrecy Act - in conjunction with mandatory reporting requirements linked to the Patriot Act.  All messages are recorded and if necessary, the Compliance Department of each bank will call seeking additional information and/or provide guidance on protecting your account from unlawful activity.  Hope this helps.

This is definitely from Union Bank of California and it's not an information-gathering office; instead, it's an office linked to providing answers to folks who have complained about some aspect of UBOC's customer service.  In my case, UBOC thoroughly mishandled my getting proper information about a debit card.  The mishandling lasted for several months, with a miserable trail of broken promises, etc., that prompted me to write UBOC's president.  That letter resulted in the call from this number.  Obviously, you don't want to share personal and/or private information with someone who calls you; however, if you have a problem with UBOC, then this is the number to call to try to resolve the problem.  In other words, it seems to be a thoroughly legit number

The call was from Union Bank letting me know that they send me a form to fill out about my old account with Frontier Bank, which they took over recently.

A male was asking how was my satisfaction in banking with Union Bank Of California and if I thaught about opening a line of credit. I answer that the service was OK and at the moment I was not interested in getting a line of credit. I heard a beep of a recording machine.

I am quite sure it is a data information broker looking to verify information on whomever answers the phone. I believe they are posting information on a web site somewhere so that all can see who is at whatever number 714-985-9829 calls. I advise all that read this to not give out personal info to these clowns. I am wishful that the responsible party of 714-985-9829 is looking at my comments and is welcome to stop by my house so that I can take the time to educate he/she on how clowns were handled in the late 1800's here in the U.S.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone. No voice mail. Thanks for the info about the bogus number.

We get calls from this number at our office - asking for our president...I can tell it's a call center, there is beeping in the background, they refuse to give a name/# for a message and just say they will call back - and we tell them NOT TO.

Every time this phone number calls, which it's been doing every other minute today, all I get is this annoying beeping sound and some fuzzy noises in the back. I tried calling it back and it traced to some guy named Bob who said he was having the same phone call.
I don't know what's going on, but it's getting really annoying.

Get calls from (714) 985-9829 (NUMBER ON caller ID), no message left.  When called back the recording indicates that it is a NON-WORKING NUMBER of Union Bank of California (then how did they call on it, if it is NON-WORKING number?), then the recording says "to find out more, call (323) 720-2000.  So, I checked this website instead of calling . . . thanks to everyone for their input.  Now, I am certain to NOT call the number.
If you check the 800Notes posting for the 323 number, you will find that it is hang-up calls, even in the middle of the night.
