You list it as Kenwood Services/Robert James and Associates with a different number>  I recieved a call from 8665316617 found out the originating number was 7162428636 and it was listed under International Arbitration Services/ Robert James And Associates.  I am going to assume they are all one in the same.  I did not call the number back and went online to see what there was on it.

I love idiots like Robert Craw, Robert Crawl, Bob Craw & Bobbie Crawl(whatever else this jack*** may call himself. Try "Idiot" for a name next time). They keep my job interesting. This idiot is nothing but a scum bag. Trying to intimidate and bully people into paying a scam a** company money to settle many supposed claims that already are closed, written-off or has been paid in full. Placing the burden of proof back in the laps of people that may or may-not still have their proof of payments made. They are nothing but blood sucking rodents. They live off from intimidation. They do not have the intelligence to go out and actually be productive individuals. They take advantage of people, cause undue stress and actually cause families to split up or loose everything they have.

Robert James & Associates, Buffalo, NY area. They are a scam company (if you want to call a couple of idiots in a backroom) trying to harass the public:

KRS 525.080 Harassing communications.
(1) A person is guilty of harassing communications when, with intent to intimidate, harass, annoy, or alarm another person.
(2) Harassing communications is a Class B misdemeanor and with substantiated evidence, can be a Class D Felony

Calls coming from at least these phone numbers 716-242-7588, 716-242-7591, 716-242-7592 are all part of this scam.

THEY ARE NOT A LAWYERS / ATTORNEY / LEGAL FIRM, NOR ARE THEY A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. They are merely a two or three person, shady "debt collection" outfit practicing fear, intimidation, and fraudulent collection practice.

OK, if it's a real collections agency, then what has happened is that they have paid a third party for the rights to the debt for pennies on the dollar. They're betting that they can scare enough people with threats (usually a bad credit report, but they'll say just about anything) into paying their debt to defray the cost of buying it, as well as making a profit.

So, the time they spend attempting to administrate (call, harrass, etc) a single debt is time they could be spending doing the same on other debts. They have no costs beyond buying the debt and the time/energy they take to collect them.

What you need to do, then, is waste their time. If they waste enough time, they file the bad credit report and move on to collecting other debts.

Get them on the phone. Talk to them. Calmly explain that these aren't the people they're looking for. Repeat yourself. They're never going to believe you, but do it anyway. Ask them how their day is going. Read the newspaper to them. Put the phone down next to the television and walk away. Hang up on them. But always be calm.

Eventually, you reach the magic number of calls where you're no longer "worth it" to them, and they walk away.

If not then:

Asking them to stop calling you won't work. You need to put it in writing.

I had an issue with a collections agency a while back, and I sent them a slightly modified version of this letter (I demanded their physical address; when they gave me a PO box, I said "UPS won't deliver to a PO box, I need an address where an employee collects packages from a delivery person"). They stopped calling, they never validated the debt, and they made a mark on my credit report. I then sent them an "intent to sue" notice, and the mark on my credit report disappeared, and the company was never heard from again.

There is nothing you can say or do over the phone (no matter what anyone else suggests, really) that will put a stop to it. They are required to give you their physical address; if they don't do it (they'll try to stick with a PO box, but insist on a physical address), they're not a collections agency. Mail them (UPS 2-day letter costs $10), and it'll stop. If it doesn't, sue them. You can't lose, if you can prove you sent a cease and desist/request for verification, and they never honored the requests.

Well, back to filing for a subpoena for this idiot. Did I say that out loud?

Today, Robert Crow, claiming to be an attorney in New York, called claiming I owed 1,700 dollars to HSBC (which I do not have an account with) and told me he was taking me to court. Not only did he call me, but he also called multiple members of my family INCLUDING my young children! He threatened that I was going to get arrested if I did not deal with the payments. I asked him if he was an attorney in NY, he said yes and was mumbling. When I told him I did not believe he was a real lawyer, he told me to look him up at robertcrow.com, which is not even there. The only attorney with the name of Robert Crow is from Portland, OR.

Someone named Bobby Krawl called us and had some information about my husband's ex-wife and he told us that she got a pay day loan and she used their joint bank account to pay it. My husband didn't even have a joint account with her with that bank. I talked to him about details about this loan and he said if my husband won't settle it they will have to file to court. They claim that the loan was granted by KENWOOD SERVICES. The collection agency that he was claiming was ROBERT JAMES and ASSOCIATES INC. DO NOT TALK TO THIS GUY, HE WILL TALK TO YOU MORE AND SOON AS YOU KNOW YOU ARE GIVING HIM INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE THIS NUMBER APPEARED ON YOUR PHONE, BETTER NOT ANSWER IT. IT IS A SCAM. You can read this pay day loan scam with this link from FBI.GOV. PLEASE DO NOT CALL HIM BACK. I might suggest you to change your number because he will not stop calling you once you started talking to him.

Got this call from the number 717-242-7591 on a saturday morning.. I was informed that I have an overdue with HSBC credit cards (I do not even have an account with them) . I was informed that I would be taken to court, if I do not try to solve the issue with them. I asked for further details about my account number in HSBC etc etc.. I was provided with an A/C number. I called up HSBC and had them verify against my Social security to discover that there was no account open... The caller from the above number had problems in even getting my name carrect..  I immediately logged onto my credit reports and saw if there was any fradulent activity and thankfull there wasnt any....  I suspected an identity theft in this case.

Just received the same call as described by others but chose to Google the number before answering the call.  Glad I did.  I've received other calls from similar sources and have no idea WHO the individual is who used my name as a 'reference'.

A male called and claimed he was working a "case" and insisted I provide him the phone number of one of my husband's former co-workers, with whom I am not acquainted. Then his voice became aggitated and he stated: "Just for your information, we're taking him to court on Monday."  At that I just hung up. I Googled the number and discovered it came back to a shady East coast debt collection company that apparently pays a fee to attorneys for the usage of their names for debt collection purposes...THEY ARE NOT A LAWYER/ATTORNEY/LEGAL FIRM, NOR ARE THEY A LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.  They are merely a small, shady debt collection outfit practicing fear, intimidation, and fraudulent collection practice.  My advice to anyone receiving a call from them is either A) file a telephonic harassment complant, B) File a complaint with the State Attorney General's office, C) File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau...or at the least, LAUGH AND HANG UP.

This was an autodialer saying this was regarding a debit or checking account of mine and to press 1 to talk with them immediately.  I pressed 1 and the woman answered with "can I help you". I said you called me. She asked if I knew someone and I said no. She then told me that I was used as a reference. I told her I didn't know this person and she said that I needed to get them a message immediately regarding a civil matter.  I asked her to remove my name from their calling list and she got snippy and said they couldn't remove my information from their records because it was used as someone's reference.  She then started yelling and I hung up on her.  She then called me back and started to yell some more.  I hung up again.
