Very nice info.  Thanks.  They called me looking for someone whom I don't know.  There message was ridiculous.  They tried to tell me that I can't listen to a message on MY answer machine for someone I don't know.  They called ME.  They left a message on a public answer machine.  I have every right to listen.  I just didn't want to waste my time this time.  Next time, however, .......

Caller ID reads :: WYSE :: Message says to call back immediately if you know or are related to a certain person. Message is garbled, but seemed to be one of those third-party agencies that tries to collect money owed by someone else. I checked it out as:  WYSE FINANCIAL, a Colorado debt collector that fishes around for owers.

Got a letter referencing this phone number on June 30 I called them and found that they had an incorrect social security number associated with my name and a debt.  They tried to get me to give them my social security number which I refused.  I was instructed to return the letter with a note saying not the correct person.  Two days later I got a phone call from this number saying I needed to return the call, I did and I again was told that I owed a third party a large amount of money (Capitol One)  I have never had a capitol one account they again asked for my social which I refused to give them.  They gave me the last 4 digits they have and I informed them it is not me.  I have done some checking and this company Wyse Fianicial has a long record.
Do not give them any personal information, check your credit report to make sure they are not messing up your credit.

I returned phone call, heard announce something like "WYNE FINANCE",spoke with two different ladies was very rude.
They tried to verify my name and last four last SSN. After I provided information, I asked their company name. They refused to answer, rude, and hang up.
I tried about 3 times and insisted to speak with supervisor or manager since I stated that I had a right to know what their company is.
The WYNE FINANCE harrased customers, and claimed for as scammer possible

As you can see, "Slick" (appropriate name) is most likely an employee of WYSE, a company brought up on charges in the State of California.

I got a vaguely threatening message from Christina Martinez at this number. She was looking for someone else (not me) and said she would be "forced to make her recommendations". I have told them to stop harassing me but I keep getting calls. I am on the do not call list and do not have a prior (or any) relationship with them.
When I tried to call that number back to tell them to go away, I got a number disconnected message.

In some states they have less or more than 7 years to collect the debt.  Always check what the laws are in your state before you contact a creditor.  I was once served with papers by a lawyers office who should have known the statute for serving me had already run.   I checked at the law library, found a similar case, and though I wanted to pay the debt could not contact the lawyer without starting the time running again.  I filed an answer and motion to dismiss in magistrate court and won the judgement.  It also can depend upon the type of debt it is.  I should have had the lawyer disbarred.

No we don't suck!  And I bet you are a debtor also.   We simply are not equipped with a crystal ball or psychic abilities.   If we were we would never get involved with companies that use unscrupulous collection agencies.   As a matter of fact, under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the original creditors can be held liable for the actions of the collection agency.  Perhaps a few suits against the original creditors will encourage them not to use unscrupulous agencies.   ..... yeah, that's the ticket.   We can ask before we make contracts what agency they use and choose to go elsewhere.

Received a call from a guy  saying I owe thousands from a Well Fargo Visa card that I paid off 3+ years ago which I paid off.

He was <very, very> rude.

I've dealt with creditors before a few years ago and never dealt with someone as rude as this guy. He was very condescending.

Told him a paid this off over 3 years ago and there must be some mistake to which he replied "We're never wrong."

The amount he claimed I owed came to an <exact> dollar amount.  Which is suspicious in and of itself.

Phone number:  800-944-3828

Went directly to the back and gave them the check number and date I paid off my Wells Fargo debt.  They are investigating this and it will take a few days to get me a copy of the check.

The guy said I have 24 hours to pay it off or they're taking me to court.

I'm not paying jack!

Joshi--

You have a slam dunk going against these idiots for MULTIPLE FDCPA and TCPA violations:

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

I have been receiving a call in my cell phone from wisy financial over 100 times for a person called Ashley. I repeatedly told the caller (Tracia, extention# 223)that she got the wrong number but still keeps on calling. It is very annoying and irritating. Is there a way to stop this person from calling me? Where should I report this harrassment? I appreciate your suggestion.

We are getting called by 303-813-1601. The caller ID says it's Wyse Financial. I called them back. They're not looking for us. They're looking for someone with the same last name. I told them that person doesn't live here. I told them that they are waking me, and they indicated they will continue to harass us. I looked them up on the internet. We learned they're a collection agency. We are debt-free. I told them I can't give them any information, but that's not stopping them. I have health problems, and disrupting my sleep is harmful. I will complain to whomever I must to get them to stop. I already complained to the Better Business Bureau, and I will complain to the Colorado Attorney General.

These debt collectors are finding information from old accounts and they tell you that you owe the money. There is normally a 7 year period that they have to collect the money from the time it goes delinquent. I am having the same problem with this company. I had another problem with another debt collector and they said I owed money for Sprint back in 2001. They had an address that I was supposed to open up the account at. The problem was that I didn't live at that address in 2001. They could easily get addresses of where people lived at. That's actually public information. What you need to do is contact them and have them send you documents of when and where the account was opened. They are supposed to. Find out your rights!

They are not a fine company - they are now bothering people who do not even have accounts with them to have them do their job because they are lazy!  We received a call asking us to take a message to our neighbors because they never got a call back from them.

I DO NOT work for Wyse and am not a messenger girl!

My mom received a call asking (for my dead father) not because we have an account, but because they wanted us to GO across the street because they were a friend of our neighbors and was having trouble reaching them and it was an emergency. They gave my mother a number and a case number and kept telling her they were a friend and it was extremely important (like I said an emergency).  Kaylen spoke with her.  She took the info and asked me about it.  I freaked!

I called the company (upset) and spoke with Kaylen (who was rude after I explained we are on the do not call list and have no business with this company) and asked for his supervisor.  HE (Josh Martin) was nicer and said that they would not call again, but that it was LEGAL for them to call your neighbors about debts you owe and that was all they were doing 'asking us a favor'.  We do not work for Wyse financial.  I do not think it is OUR business about our neighbors and I am NOT happy and am reporting them to the do not call group, the BBB and anyone else I can think of!!!
