Surprise!  I got contacted by him too.  This time his name was David Clark.  My caller id showed a missed number of 0000.  I've never seen that before.  So that was red flag number one.  He said he was calling from a law department (red flag two - not specific enough to be true).  Anyway, the rest of my story is just like the ones above.  Part of me wants to call him and tell him, he's too obvious, but then he might get smarter and get more people caught in this stupid scam.  I also wish I had money to waste on a pre-paid phone to call and harass him and swear at him, like he is to some of the people above.  Anyway, I plan on reporting him and NOT calling him back.  Thank you to everyone that is LEGALLY making their money.  I know I am.  And we have to get these other low lifes caught.

I was also contacted by this man but he referenced himself by Officer Adam Smith. I contacted the social security administration and they gave me numbers to the Federal Trade Commission. The number is 1-877-438-4338 the Identity theft clearing house which is ran be the FTC. Everyone contacted by this or these jokers need to call and file a report with them. They also suggested that I contact my local law enforcement to file a police report. Once I had done this I needed to contact the FTC back, give them my  reference number, they then would attach the police report # to the investigation. She also advised me to contact one of the Credit Reporting agency's and put a 90 day fraud alert on my credit report, if you contact one they will notify all... Experian that # is 1-888-397-3742 your entitled to a free credit report from all 3 reporting agencies.  Good luck everyone. God Bless America!

I just received a call from 716-543-3355, too!  After listening to him tell me that a lawsuit had been filed against me and accused me of owing money to Cash Advance (barely understanding him and constantly asking him to repeat himself because of his accent), I told him that I didn't have a loan with Cash Advance.  He also mentioned an investigation company and an Officer Smith?  I could barely understand him so I asked where he was calling from...HONG KONG!  I said that I can't believe someone from Hong Kong is calling Kansas City, Missouri in regards to a loan.  I said this sounds like a scam and that I would have may attorney call him!  Fortunately for me I work for a law firm!  The scammer hung up on me!  What a jerk!

I got the exact same call (voice mail) The guy was also middle eastern and used the name John Smith. He said the same thing in the voice mail. I called him back because I knew it was a scam. He was real vague when I asked what the "lawsuit" was for. He said Cash Advance and that my SS# was on hold or frozen. He knew my full address. He was a very rude man. What a lame a** way to try to score some cash.

I, too, just listened to a voice mail that, essentially, threatened me with all sorts of mayhem.  Never did quite understand what, exactly, I was supposed to have done to be "legally prosecuted" nor why this person claimed he was "investigating my address" (I'm thinking Google maps?).

In any event, the dude sounded like a drunken, bristling Ali Babba and I am not going to bother myself calling him back because if I owe ANYONE money and this schmuck is the BEST the bill collector can throw at me ... boy ... do your worse, hoss

Got a call from these people claiming to be John Taylor from the law investigation department saying there had been a serious lawsuit filed on me freezing my ss# by the US government and that my address was under investigation he knew my address including zip code somehow.  He then said he thinks he can talk to me about it if I would call him back, which made it sound fishy.  Then he said he would try his best to help me out before the situation unfolded on me.  This man that left me the message was middle eastern also.  I googled the number and found the above post so did not call back, just reported it to my local police department.  They said there had been other complaints about similar calls and are going to file a report with the state.

Got a call from these people saying that they were a Law Investigating Firm and wanted a settlement of $389.00 for Cash Advance. I don't have a loan with thius company. When I asked the man to send me the papers saying that I did, he said that he could not send anything until I paid him. Now this man was  middle eastern using the name of John Smith. He is very rude. When I told him that I would not make any payment untill I had gotten papers from him he then began cussing me out. To which I told him where to go and how to get there. He hung up on me with the final words of a**hole.
