Got a recorded message saying it was from a Mr. Kennedy and if I wanted to be connected to press 1.  I pressed 1 and then heard music for a few seconds and then was hung up on.

Great way to do business... NOT.

Got a call requesting to identify my daughter as being available at our number... Sounded like some credit trouble she was having but she called the number and found it to be a solicitation (I think it was the same number - same style anyway).

You can stay on the line - pretty much forever - to take your number off their list.

Sounds like a very good number to block in my book.

We've been recieving calls from them for months now. It can be just 1-2 a week up to 4 times a day, as late as 8-9pm! They claim there is something important to discuss, but refuse to say who they are calling on behalf of. Caller ID lists it as "800 Service". We've started having them leave messages, but they swap reps all the time.

Hello - I was just verbally harrassed three x's today by different people in this group.  The last person posed as legal counsel and said that I was so uncooperative, after she read me the riot act, that she was going to make sure I was brought up for fraud charges and that I, nor my husband, would never be allowed to even buy a toaster oven again, unless I paid them money.  I do not owe them money.  Please tell me how to report these people.

My brother in law put my phone number on his credit card application and ended up in collections.  This is how they got my number.  I asked them to remove it and they did.  Man that never happens.

this call was made to my home phone. The caller identified himself as Damien and reported an address that is not mine. He was rude and refused to try to clear up misunderstanding or listen to my request to not call this number as it is wrong.

The Midpoint Resolution Group has called my home also MANY times! The latest information that I can give is that they have charged 10,000 to my grandmother's credit card! They called her without consent from anyone in my immediate family but it was supposed to be for my parent's debt. They also had enough information to tell my dad how much money my 2 uncles had on their credit cards and another aunt and uncle as a combined entity! This MUST be illegal. We are seeking Legal Assistance in this matter and hopefully get the charges off my grandmother's credit card. She is very confused and they took advantage of her...in the amount of $10,000! I have also heard the same harrassing comments that most of you have. with the exception of GMAC! That comment makes me think that you may be involved with them...F*CK YOU!!!!! the number on our phone is 716-558-5933

Debt Collector
I received a call from 716-558-5940 - which I believe is Mid-Point from all the info I have been able to find, I believe they have a ton of numbers.  The guy originally was okay on the phone, told me I owed over $5000 on a credit card (which orignally had a $1200 balance) which goes back over 5 years ago, but they would settle for about $2500.  I told him the situation, and said I could not pay the full amount, but I would make monthly payments.  He put me on hold, and Mr.A$$ H$$$ got on the phone.  I tried to work an arrangment with him, but he would not work with me at all.  I tried explaining the situation, and told him I hoped he would be in my shoes one day, and maybe he would see how it felt.  I explained I wasn't trying to avoid a debt, I just could not pay it now.  I told him things happen sometimes, (illness, etc) but most people don't have a credit card for over 5 years, and then just decide not to pay it anymore.  He kept on and on being a jerk, and I told him I couldn't pay a big amount - I work 48 hours a week and go to school full time, and I was trying to get life back in one piece and he told me I was unresonable and didn't care about taking care of my responsibilites.  I finally was so mad, I tried to get off the phone, and he still continued to harrass me, and argue -  and He finally told me I might need to rob a bank in order to take care of my debt.
They now call me everyday - at least 5 times - never leave a message, sometimes its just noisy background on my voice mail.

This company first claimed they were calling from Bank of America. Then they said they were collecting for Bank of America for an old charge. Bank of America shows there is no outstanding charges. They have called my work at least 5 or 6 times a day, threaten to send a sherrif to my office, I gave them my home address and requested information about what they claim be sent there, but they don't.

They are harrassing and interfering with my work and my co-workers and say they are going to call my boss too!

its illegal for them to not give their address
and to Demand that all payments be by checking account
or western union and refuse payments by mail to their
address. I guess they are scared of being busted for Mail Fraud.
This screams SCAM.
ask yourself this, Do they even have a License to Operate
in your State? I doubt it.
Sounds like an illegal scam operation.

I have been receiving phone calls at work from an obnoxious woman from this co-called collection agency referring to a "case number" and threatening to report me.  I had set up a payment through my checking account which bounced and then I got suspicious because about this company.  The person was very rude, asking me questions that a normal collector would not ask, personal question like "why would you pay your mortgage when you knew you had this payment coming".  I had made a statement to her that my mortgage was my priority over this payment.  I DO owe US Bank money.  When I tried to get a mailing address from this woman to send a Cashier's check, she quickly informed me that they do not correspondent by any mail and payments can only be made via checking account, credit card account, or Western Union type payments.  I went to US Bank and told them about this company and they gave me the number to call their collections department and said they would most likely be willing to accept a Cashier's check. I told the woman on the phone that I would not be dealing with them and that I will only deal with US Bank.  She informed me straight away that they won't have any information on my account because it was sold and that she has recorded every phone call she made to me and has all the records in front of me.  She was ruthless.  She had me so upset I went straight to US Bank.  After telling me that the account the sold to them, she later referred to US Bank as her "client".  So, what's going on here?  I'm writing the do not call letter right now.  They've been calling me at work.  I'm also keeping this as a record of our phone conversation and anything else that I can remember.  This morning when she called me, she ended her phone call with a threat that this account was up for final resolution or something like that and that if I didn't call her today, I should contact my legal counsel and good luck.

What part of Harrassment don't you understand?

For the debt collectors who think they can call and call
5 times an hour, 20 to 40 times a day,
Harrassment is still Harrassment no matter whose doing it.
You don't have a free ticket to break the law, you are not above the law,
Charges can be filed against you just like anyone else breaking the law.
When I report to the Do Not Call Registry, The Complaints still go through
reported. No matter what anyone else claims. And the so called
"debt collection agency" may NOT be one at all.
They may be a SCAM and not really a debt collector, maybe this is why
the complaints go through as accepted and reported, because they are
a SCAM! Yes the Scammers get worked up and real mad about it when they
realize their SCAMS are being traced and almost caught.
Go Ahead guys supply me with more of your scam numbers,
we're on to you, just a matter of time!

What part of this sentence do you not understand:

"The law does allow calls from charities and debt collectors,"

It is clearly defined and has NOTHING to do with a previous business relationship. Granted, it's annoying and unwanted but the guy posting this was just trying to help you.

The fine is only $1000 per violation but maybe your hand just cramped up after typing such a wordy, unneeded novel over a simple, unwanted debt collection call.
