As though the harassing caller is going to read your message here and do as you ask.
You are the type of person that they will definitely continue to call.

Look at your Caller ID, and don't answer unknown callers.

Don't just post a comment here, read ALL of the comments and suggestions, to see which ones can be of use to you.
It might require a little time and effort, but you could end up making a few thousand by filing a lawsuit if they keep harassing you.

This company ZAC has been calling our house for MONTHS! We too have an unlisted number, are on the do not call registry and WE ARE NOT the people they are looking for. I feel this is a major scam company and I am reporting them to the do not call registry. We have left them messages that we are not who they are looking for. I am also calling my local phone company and filing a harrasment
complaint. EVERYONE who is being annoyed by this company needs to do so.

We have lived at our current address for 10 years with the same phone number. Got a 2nd call looking for Someone we have never heard of. 1st call was on the answering machine on Thursday afternoon, the 2nd was approx. 8:30 am on Good Friday. (sleeping in, since it was my first day off since New Years) Husband answered & advised we did not know this person and then the caller rattled off a 2nd phone number and ask my husband if that was one of our phone numbers. Husband advised the caller he had never heard of that number and ask them to not call us again regarding this person. (thanks for waking us up) Looked up number on internet and it appears to be a shady debt collector. Thought they could not call before 9:00 a.m. If they call back, we will take further action.

RECEIVED SEVERAL PHONE CALLS FROM COMPANY LISTED AS ZENITH ACQUISITIONS. THEY ARE A  COLLECTION AGENCY. THESE IDIOTS ARE ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT SOME ONE UNKNOWN TO US TO COLLECT A DEBT WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. THE STUPID RAT B*****DS ARE APPARENTLY INCAPABLE OF COMPREHENDING THAT FACT. ANY ONE  UNJUSTIFIABLY RECEIVING HARASSING PHONE CALLS FROM THESE JERKS SHOULD CONTACT AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEIR STATE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY. C8E7

They call continuously and they called at 7:30AM this morning on a Saturday saying I owe money and to call a number back. If they cannot talk to me directly for one I am not going to talk them and two it is illegal to continually harass someone about a debt. I put their number on call block and they call from a different number. The only name that appears on caller ID is Stone S so it's not a legitimate business to begin with. I think if someone is stupid enough to actually call the number they say to then they can steel you blind.

If they continue calling after you have proof they have received your letter, you can sue them for both TCPA and FDCPA violations:

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

I received a message and I returned it and was informed that I owe a debt from 7/12/2000, I informed them that they had the wrong person and they insisted with my ss# and I asked them to prove it and I was told that it was my burden to prove it wasn't and then the sob went into my credit and started naming off my assets and got down to my vehicle and said ooh you have a BMW... I told him he was invading my prvacy and I was turning him in and hungup.  I called another # and supposedly talked to a super and got the same bs and then he gave me an address that was not mine and insisted I give him mine,  I refused.   totally po'd  talk about rage....

We keep getting calls from this number, (716-799-8000), many times per week.  As I am usually at work, my wife has to field these calls.  It ends up being about an account from about 15 years ago, where per circumstances beyond our control, a judgement was entered on our financial record.  Now out of the blue, some 15 years later, we are getting harrassed by American General Fincance.  Surely there is a way to keep from being harassed by these crooks.

I keep getting the same number and they leave a message  saying, "This is not a marketing call." After that I delete the message.  One time, I picked up the phone when they rang and it was the same message.  I listened to the message fully and it said to call another number.  First and foremost, the debt is not mine, as I just received this new number, not to mention, it's a new cell phone contract.  It is revolting how these pigs work. Why would you ever want to work for a collection agency?

You don't have to get upset. They are on just another witch hunt, looking for another victim to extort money from.

And, since you are NOT the person they are looking for, you need to let them know this. Send them this Cease Communication letter (VIA CERTIFIED MAIL, with return receipt requested). If they continue to call you after you have proof that they received your letter, they can be fined up to $1,000.00 PER violation.

Just fill in the blanks. Keep copies of EVERYTHING!
