Good News! My Panasonic phone successfully blocked the number.

Better News! There is a new Panasonic cordless phone that has increased the number of stored blocked numbers to 250. Be certain you are getting the right model because most of the models still only block up to 30 numbers.

These pieces of maggot s##t have now added a new twist to their scam...offering $3,000.00 in free groceries along with the "I've fallen and I can't get up" button.  They also now claim to represent the "National Senior Assistance Program"...whatever that is.

I answered and talked.  Told them the medical alert system was guarenteed to be here 3 weeks ago.  Now the person whom it was ordered for died.  Went on to explain a full refund was expected.   They hung up on me!   Go ahead and answer the phone - for once give them the business just have fun with it.   Oh, and when it was all said and done I went to the medicare fraud site (google it) and the Atty General's web site to report them.  We must protect and look after the elderly folks!!

This is a recording that sounds like a live person. He says that someone ordered an emergency medical alert system for you, a friend or relative, and its paid for. B***s***. They want to charge you high monthly fees for having this device. So just hang up!

The only way to apparently fight back is to use some sort of blocking device. I also went with the Panasonic phone system, but I went with this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BP7SW0C/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As it can block up to 250 numbers, not just the 50 numbers of the earlier models. In the first month, I had over 60 numbers to block as we get up to 12 telespammers a day.  At this rate, soon even 250 numbers will not be enough and I am going to have "stack" machines.

This one seems very good

http://www.amazon.com/Digitone-DCB10-Call-Blocker/dp/B009RVYEZ0/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

But it can only block 80 numbers.

This one can block 1200 numbers, but seems to have problems?

http://www.amazon.com/PRO-Call-Blocker-Incoming-Telephone/dp/B00AZ43MGU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1375993906

So you would have to read the reviews very carefully to see if it is worth risking? I will probably go for this one myself when my 250 numbers are overloaded.

This unit is being recommended by users of version 1 of it

http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Call-telemarketer-screener-programming/dp/B00E914II6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics

There are lots of others, these are just the ones I looked at for myself.

What really angers me is that you have to pay good money to block these people at all. Why can't the assets of those convicted, be used to pay for removing us from phone directories, proving call blocking services free for anyone who wants them and so on?

THIS IS A PHISHING SCAM!!!   It is a recorded message  'John' wants to deliver medical equipment that has already been paid for.  I registered a complaint with the Attorny Gernal offce via my computer.  It was pretty easy.  I encourage everyone to do the same.  I would hae to hear about someone being scammed.

If they keep calling you more than other folks you must be EXTREMELY elderly! They want to take advantage of scamming you before it's too late.

This is typical with these scam artists. They will hide hide their actual number by displaying a different one. In the past the common practice was to display an out of service number. But lately they will go so far as to display a number that is in service. When people actually call the number back to complain, they might end calling a private residence that has no affiliation with the call or another business entirely. It is bad enough to hide their numbers so you cannot contact them. But to display the number of an innocent party, is even worse.

Stopping the calls is not exactly easy. The best advice I can give you is to report the calls to both the FCC & FTC.
You may also want to look into a call blocking device that can be found on Amazon or even a cordless phone that offer this feature.

One more thing, you may get calls that offer to put you on their do not call list by pressing a number. Don't do it!!
This is likely to increase the number of calls you receive.

They just called and we no longer leave our machine turned on so that the number is not "live" to them.  If you call the number, th recorded message is that it is not in service.

Others have identified this as a medical alert.

I am reporting it t the DNC list.

The caller was telemarketing a medical alert system which he said was prepaid. The scam is that you are supposed to press #1 or #5 to accept or decline...which tells everyone you actually answered the phone and your number can be sold to MORE jerks for MORE scams.

How do you BLOCK numbers like this? Unfortunately the rich scum of VERIZON don't want you to. They make a fortune off telemarketers. They won't offer a caller ID system that blocks specific numbers and area codes.

Alternative is to get a Panasonic phone answering machine. It'll block up to 50 specific numbers (but I guess they aren't allowed to offer area-code blocking. Verizon's little Hitlers lobbied against that?)

We get calls from this number and others (including 616-613-2227) several times a week.  The only thing you can do is hang up on most of them because they are recorded messages.
