Offered a "variable rate," switch for my electric service and I'll get a 12% rebate on my highest month should I choose to go that route.
So if the "variable rate," is 50% that month- where does that put me??
Garbage.  Do Not Call list loophole or verbiage is how they got it?  
Are the service providers making extra money by selling our information?  

Same thing goes for junk mail- the biggest violator is the USPS.  They sell YOUR address.  More garbage.  Once your info is out there, it's out there.

UNKNOWN showed in caller ID.  Didn't answer.  I never answer UNKNOWN calls.  Hung  up before the answering machine picked up - - a good sign it's someone I don't want to talk to....

The use sequential dialers.  When your number comes up,  ring...ring...ring....

I just got a call from this number, they say their an energy supplier. They can reduce my electric bill.And it's no cost to me and I can cancel anytime

Rang 4 times, no one there no message.

Called asking for the bill paying member of the household at 8:54pm after I was already trying to sleep due to working at 4am.

Called and didn't leave message.

PPL lobbied, and wrote most of the deregulation legislation in PA. Surprise, it benefits large corporations more then the average homeowner.

This telemarketer called me and I do not want any calls from this number.

Electric "choice" -- another squalid cesspool inflicted upon us by the so-called conservatives. This is all about that holy concept, "competitition," you know. We were all perfectly satisfied for decades with getting our electricty supplied by the local utility, PPL. Now we have these idiots, fly-by-nights, endless pest calls, all trying to get us to "choose" another provider. The Pennsylvania utility commission made some ruling last year designed to *force* us to choose another provider  --- by ordering PPL to use a different formula for charging us, so that our bills will be higher. "We have a gun to your head -- now make a "choice" dammit!"

And even after you do, you will be subjected to endless pest calls for eternity, becuz we in our superior wisdom, and having cronies who want to make a bundle on the deal, and will share the take with us, have decided you poor serfs ought to have a "choice."

Somehow, the Do Not Call list does not apply to these "electric choice" pests. In fact, I would not be surprised if the legislature did not force PPL in the "deregulation" legislation to turn over our phone numbers to these pests so that they can harrass us with pleas to "choose."
