Robocall was pitching economic stimulus loans.  I pressed 2 to be removed from the list, we'll see if that does anything.

Peter Wilson, from Financial Adviser's Group in Baltimore Md.  I asked him were he was physically located, and after some himmin and hawin, he told me India.  I don't know any Indian people names Peter Wilson.  Most have much more complicated names.

I just got a call from this number for the first time.  Since the caller ID listed NOT_AVAILABLE for the name, I let my answering machine pickup.  I have it set up to play the SIT tones and play "THIS NUMBER HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED" and then hang up so no messages can be left.  With this set up, in 2 weeks, the calls have been reduced from 3-4/day, to 1-2/week!  I assume some of these calls are from a computer that verifies "good" phone numbers (in service, live person answer, not a FAX machine, etc.) and then records the number for sale.  That could explain the severe reduction in my call traffic!

I also live in VA and have been getting these calls, number shows up on ID no message. Someone with too much time on their hands is making a nusiance of themselves. I will see about getting this # blocked from calling.y

I am still pretty happy with the Do Not Call list. Before the law took effect I received form 30 to 40 solicitations a week. I would have to go to confession more often because of the language I would employ to these a**les. However, I am concerned about the increasing volume of these robocalls. They obviously take advantage people when they are down!

Ditto the other reports. Interesting, since I have no loans and am on the donotcall.gov list, that they think I'm a good prospect. I just reported them to donotcall.gov, but am not optimistic about action.

Got a call from this number at 2:04 PM today. I have the great Panasonic phone system that someone mentioned above. If a number calls back three times, I put it on my "blocked" list. I'm only sorry that there are only 50 spaces on that list!

think your a little paranoid there.. we get these calls all the time and in this neck of the woods there aint any activist groups like that,, guess every one has to be a victim..

I keep getting calls from this number.  Today, when I answered no one spoke but there was clearly someone on the line.  I held the phone for 2-3 minutes until the person disconnected.   I immediately called the number listed and heard a message saying the number had been disconnected.  Weird.

I just got a call for this # today.  Tried back - same story - "this number has been disconnected".......????

HAVE HAD THREE CALLS THIS WEEK FROM THIS NUMBER.  WHEN I CALL THE NUMBER  BACK , I GET A RECORDING THAT "THIS NUMBER IS NOT IN SERVICE".  I ANSWERED ONE PARTICULAR CALL ON THE FIRST RING AND NO ONE ANSWERED.  I AM IN VIRGINIA, HOWEVER, WHEN I DID REVERSE LOOKUP ON THIS NUMBER, AS WITH OTHERS WHO ARE RECEIVING CALLS, SERVICE INDICATED IT WAS FROM MYERSTOWN, BETHEL, PA AREA.

Congress, as usual, did a great job of BSing the voters into believing the Do Not Call List actually did something.  IT DOES NOTHING!!!!   Congress purposely exempted political and charitable organizations (can you say 'campaign contributions?') and businesses with whom you already do business (credit card companies, for example --- again, can you say 'campaign contributions?').  Organizations which aren't political, charitable, or businesses with whom you already do business, can VOLUNTARILY obey the Do Not Call List --- again, as allowed in the law by Congress.  So, if you look at all the organizations which are allowed to call you OR can voluntarily obey the Do Not Call List, then that leaves NO ONE to not call !!!!

Oh well, you keep voting in the same thieves and w***es, you get the government you deserve.

When call from 717-933-6652 (on my caller ID) is answered, no one is on the line. A Royal pain. Someone is attempting do something not good.

Just got a call from this number.  I live near DC.  Tried to do the reverse look-up.  Either it really is a disconnected number that is being "spoofed" by scammers, or it's unlisted.  The reverse look up found no information/name for this number.

I'm guessing scammer.  And yes, they can spoof numbers that are not in service.  Or even ones that are.  Anything to keep you from being able to track them down.

The DNC list does not deter everyone, and there are some who are exempt from the DNC list, anyway: political calls, charitable group calls, and those with whom you have done business in the past.   I'm guessing debt collectors, too, but not sure about that.

We have Caller ID.  I let the unknown numbers go to voice mail.  They rarely leave a message, although one debt collector did after calling us for weeks without leaving a message.  We owed no debts, so I thought it was a scammer and ignored them till they finally left a message.  Turned out they were looking for some foreign guy who I'd never heard of.  They said they'd remove our number and did.  Haven't heard from them since.  Haven't picked up the phone to talk to these guys that own the 717-933-6652 number, though.

I really wish  the phone company would make it impossible to spoof numbers.  Scammers love that ability.

I live in Northern Virginia outside Washington DC so these calls are not just going to PA.

Thanks for posting your timely message.  People need to be aware of foreign-based phishing operations as we are continuing to randomly receive such calls.  I would add that no one should ever give out any personal information over the phone to any unknown entity.

Incoming call from 717-933-6652 [unknown caller] call waiting...answered and no one would speak...they hung up.

Yep just got a call from them also. I hope that it is costing some one some sort of money to keep making those calls and hanging up or what every they do. They hung up on us.

just received a call from this number a few minutes ago sept 19 ..i have caller id so i screen my calls and do not pick up unless i know who's calling. waited for a message, but the caller hung up. i've read the previous comments--all good information and advice. thank you :)

THESE STUPID CALLS ARE CALLING MY SISTER IN PITTSBURGH..... WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??? THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED..   THATS REALLY RIDICULOUS... CLEARLY this "recorded" message is just that, after you listen to the recording a couple of times it is very clear that this is a bogus "this number is disconnected" recording it is pieced together. I too am from PA and have received numerous calls from this number without any messages as like most others I will NOT answer a number that I wish not to answer, that is my  prerogative. It is annoys me to high end that the FCC only regulates what is IN the US and not what comes INTO the US, again it is always about the money, as line charges have to be paid for these scum bags to call the US and try to defraud each and every one that they can so the feds DO get a piece of the pie through this in the end, and IF they are generating the calls via an internet communication then Homeland Security should also play a role in stopping this heck, if it were you or I we would be having a very hard knock upon our doors, that is for sure, as always WE lose one way or. I had a recording that stated "Government loans blah blah blah" and Verizon's voice mail said it was from 717-933-6652. BUT, my caller ID showed 412-856-7206, and the word AMRCN.
  How can this be?? I picked up the phone when I saw AMRCN in order to give them another earful, and there's no one there. THERE IS NEVER ANYONE ON THE OTHER END FROM ANY 856-7898, or 856-7895, or 856-8117 call. But Verizon's voice mail gave me the message beep when I went to make a call later, and that's when I heard the voice mail saying 717-933-6652.
  Note: Verizon won't do anything about these calls, nor will complaints to the DO Not Call registry, nor will the Attorney General. If you know of anyone who makes these calls, break their fingers.

My husband loves to play with the telemarketers when they call.  While they advertise FHA, they do not say they are part of the FHA.  It is not a conspiracy against local political actions, it is just a group of shady folks trying to get you to borrow money from an unknown source which has nothing to do with your mortgage (except you probably have the cash when they come collecting on a default they define).  We've learned that this is truly an entertaining experience.  Let them call, give them no information, or inaccurate information (they don't have your account information, they are randomly calling numbers). Tell them you have a 2million mortgage -- play with them a little bit.  If we all pitch in for our own entertainment, maybe these clowns will finally go away... Meanwhile, have some fun, and don't let these dolts get to you :)

Got a call from this number this evening. No message. And I did not appreciate it. There are more important things going on right now. We just got over a flood. And then to get a phone call and no message. If u are a telemarketer I am on the Do Not Call List and if u are selling anything I am not interested. Please do not call anymore.

I am alson on do not call list. Got caller ID, and if u are going to call leave a message. Annyoying don't u think. Would u want that done to u. First of all I don't have a mortgage and don't want one. It is stupid calls like this that me so mad. Darn it. There was just a flood here, and there are more important things to worry about than getting a phone call and leaving no message. Stop it.
