Call a few times about con ed bill was talking to someone and we got shut off try calling back the num and it doesnt works .If they try anything they will know .

We received a similar call, but what we did is we called Con Edison to verify that there is NO discount at all, but a scam by telemarketers. You should call Con Ed and have them place a block in your account. That way your account remains relatively safe.

Same scam here, except the caller ID shows up as "St. George Hotel".

Same thing as Tom describes. They want the callee to confirm account information. Don't do it!

About the 20th call I've gotten regarding a discount on my ConEd bill. Sounds like they are calling from Jaipur.  Very poorly trained telemarketers, too. Won't properly explain what they are trying to do. Very persistent.

They have my address, phone, ConEd account and recent billing information, so presumably somebody has seen fit to authorize this regulated utility to share customer info with third parties "for my own good."
