If you're calling to tell me that I won a cruise, shouldn't you already have my name?

received a few calls from this number on my cell - never answer but they keep calling back...feeling a bit pissed...

unknown spam calls happening more often and i'm sick of it, do not call list is a crock.  i never answer the call if unknown, they never leave a msg.  i block number with my carrier and report the SOBs.  if you answer or try to call number back they will know yours is a valid number and call more....NEVER answer an unknown call,  check here and then report it

Called me and said the same as the rest, that I had won a free cruise. I asked him how it was that I won, what did I fill out, etc and i heard a long sigh and he just hung up on me.

I just noticed that this number actually called me *5 times in a row* in the space of about one minute.

Called my cellphone at about 830PM central time.  Didn't answer, didn't leave a msg.

JUST got this call on cell.  No message (unless it comes through delayed).

When I report this stuff (you know, this one, the credit card reduced rate deals etc.) to the FTC I get an email back saying I can sue for $1500 but that they use the info to try to stop them.  I think in my state you can sue for more, line $10000 but who's got the time to mess with it.  Just a mess.

Pre-recorded message saying I have won a Royal Carribean Cruise. Press 1 to accept and talk to a live travel agent or press 2 to decline and have your number removed from the list.

justt missed their call...called back, got a recording that they have been trying to contact me and to press 1 for my information regarding my cruise. I hung up.

I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. If it's important, caller will leave a msg. It is frustrating to receive unsolicited calls, especially on my cell phone. Making it a separate ring tone helps.

This is a very simple solution to rid yourself of those pesky telemarketers.  Get a whistle, you know - the kind refs use on the football field.  Answer your phone... once the fool on the other end realizes that an actual human being has answered his/her phone, they will start their spiel telling you it's your lucky day.  Play along while you find your whistle.  Ask them to hold the line for just a moment while you grab a pencil to write down the fabulous details of your new dream vacation or pre-approved lower interest rate for all your outstanding debts.  Then take a deep breath and blow the whistle as loud and as long as you can.  Do this each time you receive a call from an unknown caller from some out of state area code.  You will soon find yourself receiving fewer and fewer calls.  It's kind of tough to be a telemarketer when your hearing starts going bad from all the whistles on the other end.  And you will get a huge kick out of having got the best of those parasites who call non-stop.  
Probably not a good idea to use the whistle at work... = )
