Received the same message as Rourke above me. Looks like they really are trying to make it look like it's coming from your own cell phone company.

I just received this sketchy text message: [P l e a s e  c a l l  a t  7 1 8 - 8 2 9 - 0 5 8 9. J P  5 1 1 3 9 5  i s s u e]  that looks like it's coming from a Sprint phone (it says it's from 080000@messaging.sprintpcs.com). It looks totally sketchy and i wouldn't be getting a text from anyone in this area code that I don't know so I'm ignoring it.

Funny isn't it.  The Cellular South lady I talked to knew about this number texting all Cellular South customers and the Cellular South employee you called didn't know about it.  Did you know the highest compliment a company can receive is when you write a company and tell them no matter how many employees at that company you talked to they all gave the same answer.  That is a well run company. A company that obviously keeps only employees who know how to use their brain.

The worst companies have employees who are not trained and when you ask 5 different employees the same question you get 5 different answers.  For the most part Cellular South employees are always on the same page.  If they weren't I'd have dropped them years ago.  Now Sirius XM on the other hand has employees from all over the world answering the phone and giving you different answers to the same question.  And the more you try and get something straightened out the more you feel like you are drowning in quick sand. And to top everything off you cannot understand their version of the English language.

Delete it, it's a scam. I have an Eppicard thru the state of Mississippi (ex-hub pays child support thru it) so I was verrry confused when I got a strange text (like the ones described above) on both of my CellularSouth numbers!!!!  I Googled "Eppicard text scam" & it turns out it's been happening off & on for a couple yrs., Cellular South, Eppicard & my state attorney general know about it -wonder why it keeps happening??? Grrrrrr!!

I contacted Cellular South and they said they are going to text all their customers telling them to not call 718-829-0589.  They are going to do this as soon as someone gets into the office.  I had to hold back my laughter.  The idiots who sent the "call me at 718-829-0589" text all over the country believe by using SMS service there will be enough suckers to not only call the number, but provide the information they are asking for.  I see there are plenty of suckers calling the number.  Most people will never learn.  Listen up.  Call your service provider and tell them you got some cons texting you and then delete the text.  Simple ain't it.

These Bronx New York people use part of your cell companies .com address.  For example they used my03@csouth1.com to make cellular south customers think the text was coming from my Cell phone carrier which is hilarious.  But believe it or not there are idiots that will call these a h o l e s at 718-829-0589

Tey get cheap a s s SMS service and then wait for the idiots to call them.
