Hope somebody stops these people soon... they've been doing this for 5+years according to these comments.

He just contacted our business trying to open an account using the email address jayjohnson8001@gmail.com.  He told us he was in CA, gave a phone number from NE, then when we asked him why he was calling from a NE number gave us a NC number that was disconnected.  He's likely using a stolen card.  Do not do business with him.

The scam is alive. Called at 9.00 today 4/30/14  Deaf relay service we deal with several customers  on this service . Been given an Escalade from my uncle.It is in CA with a tow guy. Want to have you repair battery alternator and starter . Do you  take credit cards over the phone. Need to have tow guy  bring to you . We have had many of these calls..
Seems pointless to record law abiding citizens e mails phone calls but nothing can be done with scam artists  

We just got the same fax at our body shop. Apparently about three years ago(before my time here), they used to call with a "deaf" customer on the other line and the phone company would relay the information.  jayjohnson8001@gmail.com that was the email address we got.

My auto body shop in VA also received a fax from Jay Johnson wanting us to repair his 2007 Cadillac Escalade. He said the vehicle is in CA and needs to be towed and to contact him at jayjohnson9006@gmail.com  This is rediculous scam--beware

I have received Fax from 909-945-1722 from jayjohnson9005@gmail.com asking me for car repair estimate which came up $700.00 Make story short. He said vehicle got involve from accident & got impounded from other shop which NOT accepting credit card, only western union money. Customer Jay told me he will give me credit card to pay by phone for $2,500.00 and I have to send $2,000.00 thru western union to towing company so they can release his vehicle and bring it to my shop for repair. Half way of our conversation through email & with hearing impaired phone call, He told me Western Union not accepting his credit card because it is not "Gold Card or Business Card" it flag to me sound like it's a SCAM! So I told him right away, I'm not accepting credit card by phone. Since then he stop replying on email. Also he gave me his VEHICLE Vin# 3GYFK66N05G104656 came out FOR SALE from other state. Beware!!!!

He has now changed his name to Smith Johnson and is using the email smithjohnson9002@gmail.com and was doing the same things as everyone else is talking about 250 people for food and a delivery charge of $1600. He only wanted to reply by email but were a small business so we told him it wouldn't happen until we talked with him personally on the phone! He can't speak English well at all! Please do not fall for this scam!!!

Just got the same email, but this time they didn't ask for the favor until the second email. Any time a "customer" asks for money to be filtered through Western Union it should be a big warning sign.

THIS GUY TRIED ORDERING FOOD FOR 250 PEOPLE.   THEN HE WANTED 1600$ CHARGED FOR 'HIS COURRIER SERVICE,       WATH OUT FOR THIS SCAM.    CREEP , THIEF.

lol I got the fax today  same stuff... sorry I replied as I pretty much knew its a scam. We get a deaf scam all the time to. they want us to pay the bill to a storage yard and tow it to our shop. We just hang up now on the operator when we hear the scam. This edward johnson you thing would change his name at least. ours was the 2005 escalade with a vin number. I ran the vin just to check and it is to an 05 esclade.... pretty funny.

He has changed his name to Razgony@gmail.com saying that he is hearing impaired but it's the same escalade. The truck is in New mexico now.

I just got the Escalade repair fax from Edward Johnson. Same as everyone else. The truck is in a tow lot in CA (I'm in Chicago) due to an accident. It needs brake work etc. The fax number he used is: 212-380-2199 and email address: Adejohnson300@gmail.com

We received a fax from 'edward johnson'. We replied to him via email with more questions. The following is the email we received from him :

Got a request from the same guy (edwardjohhson006@gmail.com) requesting lunch for 250 ppl. SCAM. consistent with everyone else's post.

GOT AN EMAIL FROM 'edwardjohnson006@gmail.com' CLAIMING WANTS TO TOW VEHICLE FROM CALIFORNIA TO NYC FOR BODYWORK. SAME SCAM A DETAILED ABOVE. HERE IS THE MESSAGE:        Thank you so much for getting back to me with your email,I want you to bare with me because we will need to handle this via email for now,and the vehicle is presently in california with the towing company who will deliver it for you for the reply okay So since you are ready to handle the body repair for me,I will need you to contact me immediately when my car get delivered to  your shop , because i have made the arrangement with the tow  driver,  so  when you get the vehicle you can email me the estimate there is no insurance involve and i will come down to your shop in person  as soon as the repair is done to make the full payment,So when you receive the vehicle i need a perfect work on it please because according to the woman that recommended your shop to me said your shop is one of the best auto body shop in town so do you promise me a very good job on my vehicle and there is no insurance involve am paying personal from my pocket .Also i will need a little favor from you because i am unable to make payment to the people that will have the truck deliver to you because  he dos not have merchant credit card service for now so they did not accept credit cards and i will like to know if you do accept credit cards as payment and what type of card you accept for payment and i will like you to email me contact name and contact address for the delivering of the car and contact number and contact name okay and i will be looking for your reply.

He is asking for price quotation on catering for 250 people, no phone numbers to call him back but his e-mail address.  Fax number listed on the letter shows it is from 971-202-2712.
I really hope nobody falls for this scam.

Got the same fax yesterday that you got Savage at our Toyota Dealership. His English is horrible.  I got the same feeling you did and did some digging and came up with this site.  edwardjohnson006@gmail.com is the email address.  This guy is a big scammer.  Be careful!

I recieved a fax from "Edward Johnson" today using the fax number 909-907-0730.  I am a Chevorlet dealership located in MD and he wanted to purchase a used Honda Accord that we have in stock.  He claimed to be buying the vehicle for his mother as a birthday gift and was going to have it towed out to california.  He wanted to put a $1000 deposit to hold the vehicle for a week and another $1850 to have us pay the towing compnay with becuase their "credit card machine" was down but wanted me to wire it to the company....

My red flag went up so I asked him to fax me a copy of the front and back of his drivers license and the card on which he planned to make the deposit, to my surprise he did.  My uneasy feeling did not go away so I did some digging and found this site so it is now confirmed.  He is currently using the email edwardjohnson006@gmail.com

At no point did I actually believe this was real. We are in Ohio, why on earth would they tow a car all the way here from California. We didn't respond after the last e-mail and he hasn't e-mailed me back since 11/9/12.
