They called us this morning, Minnesota. Caller ID police protection...  What a bunch of crap!!! Annoying!!!

What the hell is this crap! It said "police protection" on my caller ID, it was half cut off though, so it said "Police Protec" or something, and I wasn't home to answer it, and was scared to called it back cuz I didn't know what it was and I didn't know if it was the police calling and I was in trouble or something! lol... So after I took some anxiety meds, I came online and thought I should look it up and I found this site! What the hell! So from what I've read,they might probably call again and again!?!?!? I don't know... It's just stupid... It sounds so dumb and if they are trying to make money they should NOT put police ANYTHING on their number cuz people on probation. Or with warrents or any legal trouble might not answer anyways lol,  just sayin, lol...  Anyway, I'm from Minnesota, I don't know where this number is coming from, but whatever! Stupid people!

Received call from 727-784-7969 from someone who mispronounced my name so I asked who was calling. They said they must have wrong number. Caller I'D said police protection. Reverse look up said located in Clearwater FL, we're on the opposite part of country, obviously not local!

In Wright County MN also, but have CenturyLink, not Charter.  They have called several times.  I never pick up unless I know the call.  Checked Google and found others have same problem.  Am on the do-not-call list, but they seem to be getting through!  Getting fed up with these types of calls!

I, too, am in Minnesota. My landline is with Mediacom Cable. Got the same phony robo-call from these "Police Protective" scumbags.

I'm in NC. Caller ID said Police Protection. I don't need it so I didn't answer. I have a shotgun for my protection.

We got the call this morning, Live in Minnesota and have Century Link, I did not answer nor well I. I don't answer anything but from people I know who is calling, This was also 727-754-7969

These people called my home phone at 8:21 AM Mar 7.  I also live in MN, Dakota County and I have Charter cable phone service.  I did not answer, assuming it was a scam or (at best) a telemarketer.  The caller did not leave a VM but the call showed up on my missed calls list.

I'm in Wright County MN also.  This is one of MANY SCAM and FRAD calls that come through DAILY on my 70 year old parent's unlisted home phone number that has been repeatedly been requested to be fixed by the useless do not call list and the phone service that they pay for and claim will FIX AND BLOCK anonymous calls, Charter Communications. What's even MORE disgusting is these parasites use FAKE caller id claiming to be legitimate companies that you usually would talk to and give sensitive information about your identity to. In fact they are criminals who have just stole your entire identity. They will ask you to verify your account by giving your last 4 digits of your ss # and bam they have your identity. This is a ABSOLUTELY REAL INSTANCE that happens and continues and there is nothing the government can or has done to stop it. My father is a 100 percent service connected disabled Vietnam Veteran. He has doctor appointments and lab's numerous times a week which means a lot of calls from the VA. The MAIN way you identify yourself at the VA is by the last 4 digits of your SS. So when my father gets a call from a number with the caller id saying VA, Veterans affairs, Veterans Administration, US Government, and yes, these are just some of the FAKE numbers they have used... How is he to know what is the real thing? There's also FAKE Social Security, Medicare, Medica, Humana, if they're your medical provider you should hang up and call back to make SURE it was IN FACT them before giving out ANY information! It's SO SO SAD how our government can't even stop these uncontrolled stealing and harassing criminals who are continuously growing and gainfully getting bigger and gradually hacking into and taking over identity, bank account details, Target Corporation Financial Database! It's TERRIFYING! Just be very aware and you MN people.. I'm SO surprised to hear that this is new to you, you're lucky! I hate to tell you it doesn't matter, I get the calls on my cell phone, my parent's on their land line. Someone, or company gets your information and sells it and that's it. Soon your family will start getting calls etc.... PARASITES! Just look around on this site!

We also are in Minnesota and just received a phone call from Police Protection.  The caller hung up on me when I told him to mail us the information and that I would discuss it with my husband.  We are with a local phone company.

I live in Minnesota and received a call from this number (727-754-7969) today 3/6/2014.  Same as the other posts it showed up as Police Protection and the caller said they were legit and registered in MN. as a nonprofit and raising money for our police department to continue to keep us safe.  When I told him I give directly to our police department he said well that is what they do and that I should just give thru them as it is fully tax deductible.  I tried to tell him no and he got very irate and was very rude.  I final just hung up on him.

Call from "Gary", of the Police Protection Society. Said they help the families of police killed in the line of duty. He said he would send me a couple od decals, for a small donation. Said I don't donate to groups I've never heard about, and hung up.

I am in MN and just received the call too.  I am not a Frontier customer - live in the Twin Cities.  It comes up on caller ID as Police Protection.  Area code is Clearwater, FL.

out of area call ... they have called a couple times but I do not answer. There have been several newspaper articles and also a news report on tv stating these are scams.

I am a member of concerns of police survivors and the Law Enforcement Memorial Association and I can say Do Not Give Money to anyone who claims to be collecting money for police officers or programs. We do not solicit cold calls!!!! This is a scam!!!! I too got the same call!

This number calls at least once a week (727-754-7969) and never leaves a message because I don't answer it because it says Police Protection on caller id.  In my state the only police that call once a year is the dept in my suburb asking for donations for a tickets to the police/fireman ball's which is an actual event that is held every year because it is reported in the local paper.

Just got a call.  They hung up when I said hello.  Caller ID said Police Protection.  I'm a Minnesotan too.  

Also in Minnesota - use Century link - received call 02-20-2014....didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.....

I have received these calls for so long.  I've been working with the Federal Trade Commission... They know all about it... They are trying to find out who is selling our numbers..  One person also told me it's random.. But if it's random, how do they get names and addresses????    I finally found my air horn and when I get any of these kind of calls I give it to them...

I just received a call from the same number 727 754 7969 I didn't answer it .we don't talk to cops unless it is from our state n county..we got the same thing going on in mn they call themselves the police mans ball..these are all scams don't give them s*** .

I do not have Frontier myself but some of my family does in this area. They have never had any issues but scammers just call everyone they can until they get a bite.

I have received this call in the past. I knew it was a scam because we don't have a police dept here. So that was the end of that call. They called back today and I just did not answer the phone when I saw the caller id as Police Protection. They also have fire dept scam calls too that I have received when I say I donate to my local by going to pancake breakfasts, etc he said that it was nice but... tried to make me feel guilty about all fireman in the country. I just hung up!
You are right. The fact that so many vulnerable people get caught up into this is really sad and proper authorities need to Do Something about it.

I got this call from "Police Protection" today too.  I would never donate to telephone solicitations but have concerns that many people do.  He sounded so business-like and polite.  I declined.  He asked for $20.  I declined again and he politely thanked me and rang off.  This area code is in Florida.  I am in Minnesota.  This is definitely a scam.  

You threw away $150 to some scammers when you could have contributed to a legitimate charity.  Please don't do that again, you're encouraging criminals when you do that.

I also get the calls from this same number.  It does say Police Protection on the caller ID.  I never answer.  I also am on the DO NOT CALL list in NC.  It does not work to be on that list.  So frustrating.

We get calls from the every so often...I finally donated $150.00 and they stopped...well worth the peace...and you are helping your community
