It has been 38 days since you got your grant. Have you gotten any notes about making payments or paying back this money?
What was on check, when you received it?

I just received the call today from the same number with the same direction...did anyone ever follow through?
Tasha 2014-03-27 13:27:24 Unknown
A guy named Chris called my sister and said she received a grant for $8,000. Then instructed her to get a prepaid debit card, load $298 on the card, and call him back. Then they would release the funds to her.
I called the number when she asked me for the money. It went directly to a voicemail saying, "This is Chris, leave a message."
ummmmmm.....SCAM! I will be taking further action!

Got a call from unlisted number 0000. Said I had been given an US Grant for $8000. Gave me a tracking # and an ID number. Said I had to call the Grantor at 727-827-8750 in order to get another number to pick up my cash at Western Union. I haven't called the number, but I have not applied for a US Grant, and if I had, I would have heard from the government and not some random person. I suspect a scam.

ShillKill 2014-02-28 23:22:54 Unknown
How's the whether in India, you shill? Please don't believe the false testimony of this poster who probably works for the group behind this scam!
This is a classic "advanced fee" fraud. The criminal promises you a large amount of money, but you have to pay a small "fee" first. Well, they take you "fee", and you never see the money.
Here, the victim is promised a large grant or loan, but they have to pay a "fee" (using a prepaid card) first. Then scammer proceeds to take the money from your card, and you never see the promised funds.

Nice try Shilly but your scam is all over with! The word is out on this!

Do you really think we believe you, shill? Especially when the Government - actually - anyone who offers grants - does NOT ask you to pay to receive a grant. Nor do you need to pay an application fee. Why don't you take a hike back to your boiler room! Do trip over the broom on the way back - maybe it'll knock some sense into you!
Willow 2014-02-28 22:50:54 Unknown
It absolutely IS a scam.
As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov
YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO OFFER YOU A GRANT.
The government does not contact people to offer them money. If you do qualify for a government grant, the government does not request payment for it.
THERE ARE NO FEES ASSOCIATED WITH APPLYING FOR A GOVERNMENT GRANT.
Providing financial information to prove that you qualify for a government grant is typical, but you should never pay money to apply for a grant. People who run scams often claim to provide help and sometimes claim to be "federal government" officials, don't be fooled by these scams that request money from you.
ALL GOVERNMENT GRANTS INVOLVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
If you have not submitted an application for a government grant and someone claims you have been awarded one, it's a scam. Grant money is not given over the phone for a fee. In order to qualify for a grant you must apply for the specific opportunity that you are qualified to apply for.
GOVERNMENT GRANTS ARE AWARDED FOR EXPLICIT OPPORTUNITIES
Government Grants are typically awarded to states, cities, educational institutions, nonprofits and other organizations to fund research and other projects.
GOVERNMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION IS FREE
Be cautious of offers that ask for your personal information (especially financial) when requesting a fee to access grant information. You can always access free information about government grants and other benefits at Grants.gov and Govbenefits.gov
If you get this call, please report it to:
