Lance Morris from 'Hogan's Law Firm' emailed me about an alleged debt owed but never stated specific facts such as date of acquired debt, amount of acquired debt, etc. He didn't spell words correctly,  and used incomplete sentences for him to be a 'Senior Attorney ' @ 'Hogan's Law Firm.' He needs to cease illegally harassing citizens with no proof or facts.

I got the same email as well but apparently if you owe a payday loan, the loan company sell your information such as address you used when applying for the loan, your email, phone number and SS#.  when he put my cell number and address in the email all of that was from information many many many years ago then i looked into it some more and the question was asked if i ever had a payday loan that may not have been paid in full and i could remember because it's been over 10 yrs since i had a payday loan. Then is when i found out that payday loan companies sell your information ALL OF IT

I didn't receive a call, I received an e-mail from Lance Morris stating that he was from teh Hogan Law firm.  In it he states that there is a law suit suit pending against me by American Cash Advance because I received funds from them but I never paid them back.  So he said that I would be prosecuted for bank fraud and that there would be a judgement of $11,958 plus bail noney and attorney fees. This is absolutely ridiculous.  There were no dates as to when I supposedly received funds from American Cash Advance, the actual amount I received, nothing.  The way the e-mail is written is unprofessional with bad spelling and poor punctuation.  He's telling me that I will be prosecuted--really!  I guess he doesn't realize it's ILLEGAL to impersonate an officer of the court.

I just received an email from the same the guy. This is the second time within the last 5 months.  I have contacted the IRS and State's Attorney office to report this guy and well as placed my credit on high security alert.  Nothing can go through an approval process without me taking the block off.  I can't even get a credit card let alone a larger fianace without the block being removed directly from me with my pin I placed on the account.

This is a lousy scam on his part because his email he sends is not proper grammar. My 5th grader could write it better! He does have my old info as well with my SSN but I have no worries because this is a WELL KNOWN scam.

Contact the Credit Bureau and have a freeze placed on your credit.

I was dealing with this a few years ago and changing my number finally stopped the calls but I got a e-mail today, which gives me a better paper trail, so I went ahead and reported him to the FBI.  I am the daughter of a police officer, so I also let my dad know just in case they try to contact him again (they tried before, but after he informed them of his knowledge of law they stopped).  They had a old address and phone number and my dad pointed out that anything real would have updated that, and that he has never heard of a case being flagged through your social security number.

Contact at least one of the three credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax, TransUnion - and ask them to place fraud alerts on all your files.  You may also want to look into getting identity theft protection also, as he has your SSN.

www.experian.com
www.equifax.com
www.transunion.com

You can also forward the email to the FBI at their Internet Crime Complaint Center - www.ic3.gov.  Do NOT respond to the emails - this is a scam attempt.

I received a letter from Lance Morris and previous I was receiving threatening calls.  I finally called the general attorney's office in Washington D.C. and they gave me a number of a man you investigates such calls.  He stopped me in the middle of telling him my story and said..."Do not give out any information or give them any money!!!"  It is an international crime going on out of the United States.  They are trying to get these people but they are out of the jurisdiction of the U.S. and keep changing websites and phone numbers so frequently that they can't keep up with them.  He told me that there are three major international crimes going on.  One for payday loans, school loans, and acting as IRS.  He said to ignore any calls or emails and they will eventually leave you alone and move on to their next victim.  I hope this helps and please DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION!!!!
