Guy with heavy Asian accent said he was with FBI and wanted to know who was the main user of the computer. I hung up on him.

Guy with such a think accent I could barely understand what he was saying called my cell phone. He asked "Are you head of your Windows computer?" It smelled of a scam so I asked: "You don't really think I am going to fall for this do you?" He laughed and said "No we not sell you anything". After some back and forth about whether or not we had a Windows computer or not I told him "I don't have a computer and I don't have a phone either." He paused for a second then yelled "Then why do you answer YOU IDIOT?!" and hung up on me. LOL was almost worth my wasted time on my imaginary phone with him. :)

Same guy called me. When I said I was running LINUX he started to fumble his words. Once they get control of your computer, the hide your desktop icons and ransom them back to you.

Guy with an accent calling to help me repair my home computer - I hadn't reported a problem and knew it was a scam as well

Lady with an asian accent said she was from (said name too fast and garbled to clearly understand what she said ) such and such company. Asked for person who owns household computer. Wanted to help; mentioned all computers are infected or affected and cause computer to run slowly. There were assuredly viruses on the computer I had downloaded from the internet. Asked me to go to dropdown menu and go to "About My Computer". At which point I said - she could take her scam and shove it. Did she think I was stupid? why assume I had a Windows machine? it has been my experience that none of the Mac computers I have run for the last 30 years has been affected by a virus .... ( at least various virus detection software have never discovered one causing a disruption!! ) A short search did not show any other complaints re: this number. Maybe this is a new scam?
