The same thing happened to me today June 24-12.
The same story of offering $700 on top on asking price of a vehicle being sold in AB, Canada.
A text message appears to have come from #1-724-461-2037 that appears to be from Orange county, CA. The text message asks torespond to email davidpearson1979@gmail.com.

My sister just received the same exact text and email for the kijiji add she placed trying to sell her car so I think it must be a scam.

This is a text from a gmail account: davidpearson1979@gmail.com
He sent me a text like this:
I saw your add,And am really ready to offer you an additional $700 to your asking price for the Vehicle.pls respond ASAP to email: davidpearson1979@gmail.com David
Then an e-mail:
Hi, I just thought you might have had some other buyer's interested in buying the Vehicle from you before i contacted you so i think the best way for me to outbid them all is by offering you another additional $700.CAD to your asking price on the ad on Kijiji, I won't be coming for the inspection of the Vehicle my self due to present Job, I only have a pick-up Agent who will be contacting you about where and when the picking of the Vehicle will taking place after have completed the payment transaction with you my self.
Please tell me a little more about the present mechanical condition and how often you do the service or if possible the history ?. I will wait to read from and if we come to an agreement i will proceed with the payment immediately
