I got a message today on my phone from a similar person who had an indian accent so thick i could barely understand him, his name was Officer Dave Mathews. He said he was from the Dept. of Justice. I looked up this number and it said its in California City, CA. But the Dept. of Justice is in Washington, DC and I found the address for the Dept. of Justice and phone numbers and their area code is 202....lol....this person has no idea what he is doing. He even found my work phone number and called my job on my day off....if anyone falls for a scam like this I feel really sorry for them.

They just left a msg on my answering machine but they mentioned my husband's name and one of his friends that live in another state. He did have a very heavy accent so I couldn't make out a lot of the msg.

regardless of whether you fell for this scam or not, you should make a report to your local FBI field office. At least this way when they are finally caught, there is plenty for the dept. to work with. Typically the victims who actually suffer financial loss are elderly men and women who are easilly intimidated by crooks like this. It will only take a few minuts of your time and may help track these clowns down and get justice for the people who have been ripped-off

They called to my mom's cell phone. We ignored it.

i have been constantly! harrassed both at home & at work by these thugs.  each time i do what i am told to do"advise that call is being recorded, & reported to...before i can give the info(which i have done diligently), they hang up.... so far so good..but to no avail.  they just call back 5 minutes, & harrass a co-worker till they get put thru to me.   okay, fine....but it's not really so fine.  i work for a group of neonatalogists, who i have to page to the right hospital, at the right time(STAT MEANS 5 MINS OR LESS, OR A WOMAN OR BABY IS IN DANGER OF POSSIBLE DEATH) AND these m-f****ers want to tie up my line threatening me w/cops at my work in one hour, or "be at the courhouse at 10:00 am" ...(too bad they cant pronounce the name of the city, maybe you have heard of it? it's seattle... i think most people in the us have heard of it....well, none of them can pronounce it.)     it would be kinda cute, if i was selling balloons. or popcorn.  as for threatenting my job.. so be it.  they could be right, if they keep tying up a line that is meant to dispatch highly trained, highly specialized, doctors, to serious, if not life or death situations. BUT I'LL BE DAMNED IF I HAVE TO LIVE WITH MY CONSCIENCE over a call that didnt get to the right doc, at the right time.  of course! i hang up on them!   but they just call right back, 8 -10 times, repeatedly,within minutes.    i have contacted pac west telecom inc, to let them know that that they need to drop these "customers/clients" which they say they will do, but i have my doubts.   i know money talks, & ....walks.  so we shall see.      so if anyone out there has found a way to get rid of these blood-sucking vultures, please let me know. i look forward to the day that they only call me at home,so that i can blow my police whistle at loudly as i can(and it hurts!) into their ears. but i really cant be responsible for not getting a doc to a life and death situation because of these vipers. and i cant do the old police whistle trick at my work, while some doctors are in the office, on important calls.    i've been told repeatedly by these bast***s that they can only hope god looks out for me.  and i i that their god looks out for them, when a baby dies, while they were trying to make a buck, by basically trying to steal a purse... they just dont have the cajones to do it in person, they hide behind a telephone, which they hang up, when the going gets a little rough for them, the "*ussies.    so let their god deal with them, as they have told me my god will deal with me.  but  i couldnt live with myself, if these guys tied up a work line, when a baby or  a mom is in danger.   i lost a child in childbirth myself, so it is not only extremely important to me, professionally, but important to me, personally. any! advice would be so appreciated. thanks!  and if the only advice is to drive to ca or fl, which is where most of the calls come from, i'm just about ready to do it.  thanks for ANY advice!

These people have been calling my phone for over 2 months now! I know it's a scam, and I tell them this. I tell them to send me written proof that I owe them money, and they hang up. This is becoming way out of control. What should I do?

I got a threatning phone call from this Number 760-514-0183 today tell me that if I don't call back that I will loose my job and They were going to send the police to my house, I could not understand hardly any thing that he was saying , but it sounded a man that talk like if he was some where from India, and this same person has called me back in august about 4 times and theartning me many times and if I do owe money I'm not giving any body of my accounts.

I filed a complaint with every agency I could find but till someone can get this guy it is useless...What I suggest is do what I'm doing calling him all hours and harrassing him he told me to stop calling him and hung up and I called him back and said "it sucks when you tell someone to stop calling you and they dont" He told me the Wrath of God was going to get me when he first started calling me. Now that i have turned the tables he says I'm nuts and need a shrink LOL. Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors

This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

These guys are a joke, but threatening to kill someone on the phone is not. That statement was uttered after I told them if they kept calling I would file harassment on them.  I have filed a complaint with the Colorado State Attorney General's office, and I will let them handle the scum like this. I recommend that anyone getting these types of calls do the same. These practices are immoral and illegal, and these people need to be stopped.

I got a call from this guy with a very heavy indian accent from 760-514-0183 calling himself Agent Mike Smith from the US Dept of Legal Investigation..I also received calls that state coming from a California number.. They have called numerous times and left threats that the cops are coming to get me at home and at my job, that I will go to jail never get a job here in the US again...I called back and informed him that I have forwarded the messages, along with the scripts on this page and others I have found on the net to my Attorney General's office, he then started to cuss me out and tells me that I cannot file complaints against his Dept of Investigation, when I laughed he started to get angry and then hung up..Here's wishing you the best as the situation falls around you there Mr. Smith

this man been calling me for about 2 months now. just called me today back to back within 5mins and last night. i told him i cant pay him anything and he said omg..... i said yes omg your god. then he said ok i dont want to get smart. he kept talking all fast. it was very hard to hear with that accent. i told him i need a letter stating this. then he stated all of MY information to me with the wrong address and when i told him that wasnt right, he didnt ever bother to ask me the right address so thats when i knew it was a scam. then he called again today say i was suppose to fax him my depit card info. then i said well i need to talk to someone else cause i couldnt under stand him he quick got off the phone..... really what is this mans problem. how can i report this number so he can stop calling me.

These people have been calling me since about febuary...different #s though. Same people, and yes they are from india. They have 2 numbers, one from houston, tx and the oth from california. The # listed out of houston is registered to a telemarketing company. My husband
called these people back numerous times and threantened them...so many time they got frustrated and said that all they want to do is " f*** with americans"..told my husband that he was "smart" and that they are indeed from india.today though they called me at work and said they were from the office of dept of legal services. His name was steven green.asked him to put somebody with an american accent on the phone but after 3 attempts he couldn't.laughed at him and told him I knew where they were and I already know what they r doing.mr asked how, told him not to worry bout it the police would let him know and not to hang up on me yet,mr got quiet and indeed hung up.

I got today frow John Smith and said if I didn't return this message to my sister that I would have the authories at my door or job and go behind bars and loss my job.  Say his name was John Smith. with india accent

I received 2 phone calls from this number, aug 19th and 20th.  Officer Jason Miller from the Department of Law and Investigation.  He stated I was the guaranty on a loan from Cash Mutual signed by Thurman Irvin.  Whom is a friend and co-worker.  He told me if I did not pay the $410.00 they would press chargers for fraud and file a law suit.  How do I stop the incoming phone numbers.

I received 2 harassing and threading calls from 2 men at this number with Indian accents.  They say their from the Department of Legal Investigation and I owe money.

I received a phone message saying that Officer Steve Jones had tried to call me three times, but I am avoiding the law.  He said that i had a warrant for my arrest and had better call back if I didn't want to be in trouble.  At the end he said we are here to help you and have a good day.

I called back and the person also had an Indian accent, but he sounded older than the voice message.  I asked for Steve and he said "Steve who?"  I said "He said his name is Steve Jones but he had an Indian accent like you, so obviously his name isn't Steve Jones".  He said what is your phone number?  I told him none of his buisness.  He then told me my phone, but he was using my nick name, so I knew it was some sort of scam.

I started asking him what his name was, what police dept. he was with and he became very angry.  He then said he was with some sort of law firm.  When I asked for the name and address of the law firm, he started saying my name over and over again and saying "you yhink you are the boss of me?  I started laughing and told him if I could understand anything he was saying this would be funnier than it was.  I told him that his scam didin't work in the US because his accent was so thick no english speaking person would fall for it.  

The person got very upset and said you wait we are going to file with your county!  Then he hung up.

I received one too just now he called three times its Dominic Salio too and he says he's from the Department of LAw and Investigation office. I don't plan on calling them back because as far i know whenever you have problems with the law or something they send something through your mail not your phone. Let me know if you have heard anything about this.

I got the same phone call today several times. The guy has an India Accent. He says that I will face consiquences if I don't call back. My credit report is clean he claims he is from the Department of Law and Investigation Office. If anyone has any info on this Situation....that would really help to find this caller by the name of Domonic Salio.

I just put a similar post up the phone number that called us was 760-820-4574... I told them if they called one more time I would find out the phone number for their local police station and have them reported. The guy hung up on me. They always say in their messages they leave all they can do is wish you good luck. My husband called them and they said he got out a pay day loan and that he needed to be in court in California in 3 days we live in West Virginia. And my husband has never got a pay day loan. I looked their phone number up on a different website the number I listed is in Yucca, CA I am still trying to search to see if I can find out anything else. If I do I will let you know

Today I got several calls from the phone number 760-514-0183.  It appears to be nearly identical to the same voice (and background noise) that I heard on several (going back a few months) calls from 05-279-7777 (yes, weird I know, but that is how it appears on the caller ID).

The male voice is difficult to understand, due to a very thick accent (possibly from India?).  He just called, TWICE IN A ROW, within the last fifteen minutes.  He is always rude - at the least - or verbally abusive, as he was a few moments ago.  The stories vary - we're investigating your Social Security number, we're investigating you for bank fraud, and even more ridiculous fiction.  

It would be only pathetic and annoying IF whoever this person/company called and said a few things and hung up.  But it seems to escalate when you tell them that what they are saying is ridiculous, that there are other people out there reporting these phone numbers, and they especially do not like being questioned about where they got a hold of your personal information - like the Social Security number, private phone contacts, etc.  (And for the record, I have being paying for that SS# LOCK protection for some time now, and pay for a private phone listing.  Is that all for 'naught?)

At times this is getting increasingly scary.  I am not a computer or technology wiz, but I try to take all the precautions possible.  Anyone, especially females, in the same situation as me, I feel your frustration.
