I RECEIVED A SIMILAR CALL ON 9-30-11.IWAS NOT AT HOME BUT THE MESSAGE WAS THREATENING.THE NUMBER WAS FROM MARYLAND.301-563-9224.THE OFFICER WAS DANIEL CARTER AND A HEAVY ACCENT.HE TOLD ME HE WAS WITH THE FRAGILE CRIME DEPARTMENT.I HAVE A RECORDER BUT HE DID NOT SEAY WHAT THE MATTER WAS CONCERNING.

My husband and I received a phone call from a "Cameron Wright" with a heavy foreign accent claiming he was from the Federal Crime Investigation in the Verification Department. He claimed he was representing Advance Cash in regards to a payday loan we'd allegedly taken out, and said we now owe $345. He said there was a legal case filed against us in Cypress County in California and gave the case number as 0c356854, filed on February 1st, 2010.

*However*:
1. No one named Cameron Wright has a heavy foreign accent.
2. There is no such thing as the Federal Crime Investigation
3. There is therefore so such place as the Verification Department within the non-existent FCI.
4. There is no such company as "Advance Cash".
5. We have never taken out a payday loan.
6. We have bank records proving that no money has ever been deposited into our account that isn't a legit paycheck.
7. There is no such place as Cypress County; there is a city Cypress in Orange County, California.
8. There is no such case number in Orange County. It's even an invalid form.
9. There is no case with mine or my husband's name on it in Orange County.
10. When I looked up his number, it came back to Bishop, CA.

Next time he calls, I'm going to get his mailing address for his firm and this Advance Cash place, and then I'm going to report him with my local police and Orange County sheriff's department. I'm going to, very carefully, explain his inconsistencies, and then tell him he is hereby on record with those legal authorities for breaking FDCPA regulations, and that I will be sending them to his mobile home that is probably in the mobile home park off of Bishop Rd.

This is a scam!  They receive your information from another entity who has sold your information.  There is no such thing as debters prison (which they threaten), and there is no agency named "FCI",  These idiots pose as officers--a crime in our country: USA.  One cannot pose as an officer!  

Several crime/fraud reports have already been filed with the FBI & FTC against these impersonators.

Just hang up, or better yet, let them continue to call and leave messages for evidence!  Whatever you do, do NOT give them any information.  These "people" are scammers.

This idiot keeps calling and calling, saying the most obnoxious things. It began with phone calls last June, 2010, where he scared my 12 year old niece half to death. After multiple calls in June/July, they stopped. Just yesterday, October 8, this loser called my home and left me a somewhat "nice" message, called a family member of mine and left a torturous evil message on their answering machine scaring them half to death, and then the final straw came when this moron called a friend's phone 20+ times threatening her to the point where she actually called the police and filed a police report on this guy.

I have no idea what this is about, why I and my family and friends are getting evil, threatening phone calls directed at ME to anyone who will listen. This guy better not all anymore because I do have a police case open on him now and will pursue it further if I get any more harrassment.

Continuation of my above message:  He said his name was Cameron White with Federal Crime Investigation Department. I couldn't understand most of the message since he speaks horrible English.

I happen to work for a "legal entity" and there is NO SUCH THING AS DEBTORS PRISON!  
While some may be afraid of these threatening phone calls - that is all that they are - idle THREATS!
What it is in actuality is a direct VIOLATION of the FDCPA (the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)- which carries a hefty fine of $1000 per occurrence - an actual FEDERAL VIOLATION!

So whoever (or whatever) is calling and harrassing - report the number to your local authorities, block your phone from these harassing calls and let your state/county attorney's office be made aware of this scam artists.
