I just got this phone call!! he hung up right after I asked who is calling, I called back and it was the same story. Does anyone know how they are getting all of our information? My phone number doesnt even show up on the whitepages like theirs does.

Unhappy IA Girl. Contact your local law enforcement immediately and have them get involved while the numbers still work as well the internet fraud prevention FTC. You have been scammed. Sorry to hear it.

They get your info from applying for loans on line. Total scam. Report to your Attorney General's FTc etc. Get caller block for your phone

Watch out this call from Georgia and named Stiebel Carl!  The phone # is 770-926-5021. As all you said it was scammer and so on.

Well, I am a victim of the $7,000 FREE government grant.  I am so ashamed of myself.  I am way smarter than this, but I guess I wasn't this time.  Times are tough right now, the Christmas season is coming and I was going to pay down some of my debt.  I did the first transaction of $320 with them saying I would get that back.  Next day look to see if my money is there.  NO it is not, so I call to find out why.  Well, it is because I have to pay the state tax fee.  I thought that makes sense, so STUPID me I go to Western Union a second time to pay this fee.  Wait another day to see if my money is there.  Again, no it is not.

Come to find out that it is because the Western Union receipt didn't have my middle initial like my bank account does.  So I fell into the trap for a third time but sent less money.  Waiting a third day to see if my money is there and no it is not.

Called to find out why and it is because all the money needs to be sent from me.  So they are asking that I send the full amount and then the deposit will take place.

Well, I am not falling into this trap for a fourth time.  They will either give me the $7000 or give me all my money back that I have paid in.  They are not going to continue to steal from me.

I know that I will not see this money, so I guess on Monday I will be going to my bank to file fraud on my account and be giving the attorney general a call.

These last three days have been so stressful and it has just broke me. I just don't know how people can hurt other good people like this.  Because now, my house payment money is sitting in some stupid India j***-off hands right now.  JUST PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!

I just received a similar call and when I kept asking where he was calling from because I could not understand anything but "from US . . " he finally hung up. did reverse lookup and found this website. I am reporting to FTC but I am concerned there have been so many previous complaints and this guy is still calling people!

PLEASE   report these numbers to the FCC.  Call them, look up the number
on the internet and call them.

I relieved a call from this number, a male with a heavy brogue asking for me by my full name. Albeit my maiden name. I asked politely "May I ask who's calling?" at which point he abruptly hung up. When I called back a recording came on stating the number you have dialed has been changed there is no new number available. I did a white pages look up. The characters are living at 4946 Dana Dr. NE Kennesaw Ga. 30144. There are 5 in total adults living there. Their names and ages are as follows. Carl G Stiebel age 50-54, Kim R. Stiebel age 50-54, Carl S. Stiebel age unstated, Danielle M. Stiebel age 25-29, and Eric H. Stiebel age 25-29.

Keep getting hang up call from these idiots.

They get our number from applying for jobs online.

Just got the call!  Thanks for posting, they tried the same line of bull on me...!  $7000 cash you don't have to pay back!  I wonder how they are getting our numbers?!

I forgot to add the woman said only 1700 people would be receive this grant.

This number keeps calling saying I won a government grant for $7,000 and that I didnt have to do anything or pay it back it was free money, because I had never filed bankruptcy.  The lady sounded Asian and there was a lot of noise in the background, when I told her that she had the wrong person and the wrong address, she called me stupid and why didn't I tell her before she wasted her time on me, and hung up on me.  When I tried calling the number back it just rang and rang, I just went online and saw that I am not the only one getting these calls.  People beware of these scammers.

Got a call this morning asking for my adult son- claiming he had qualified for grant money- I said he is not here- The foreign sounding woman went on with her speil about how  she was from the "grant department" he got all this money- I asked her where she was and in horrible English she says-  DA US GOBERN MENT- I said- funny- you don't even sound American. She said she was actually from China. but paid to make these calls for U.S.  Then I asked for the number to call. and looked here- see it is a scam. Her English was so terrible it is pretty obvious something is not right.

Received the call as well, the number was an Atlanta, Georgia based number and the caller "Edwin Pako" sounded of Indian decent claiming to work at the US Department of Treasury.  

Edwin had my name and address, and told me that I was elligible for a $7,000 grant that I earned for paying my taxes and not being in trouble with the law.  I explained to him that the US government only gives out grants if you apply for them.  He said this was a special exception.

So I asked him how many grants of this nature he would be giving out and he told me 1,700 in total.  

I now pretended to get angry and yelled at him for being part of the reason of the US Government's fiscal crisis.  Expressing that in such a time of financial disaster, and excessive spending the Government should not being giving out $8.5 Million dollars for no reason to the general public.  

At this point, I told him I refused to take the grant and said I am offended that my government wants to give me free money.  Stating that I am a hard working american, who earns what I receive and do not expect free handouts from the Government.  

Edwin then responded by telling me that my saying I didn't want to receive $7,000 for free was the craziest  thing he has ever heard of.  This resulted in me spiraling into a fiscal lecture on how society has become dependent on proverbial "free lunch" which has ultimately lead to the US Department of Treasury creating the mess they have.  

At which point I decided to express to him how I felt the Federal Reserve should be abolished all together and the US Department of Treasury should be stripped of their ability to give money away to whomever they wish.

This is when he hung up on me....  Guess he wasn't a Ron Paul supporter.

I got a call from this number a couple of times and they do not answer, i called back 4 times and the number sounds busy.

Just got a call from this number.. same india sounding guy.. he said i could receive the money through visa mastercard debit or my bank account.. i said what if i didnt have any of those he said i could receive cash.. A 7,000 government grant if i call his supervisor Debbie Bennett at 202-697-9348.. and give her my verification code.. Im glad I looked this up instead of calling.. i wouldnt have went through with the western union thing though cause my brother got scammed that way with a girl online..

they are a fraud i got the same call from someone souning like they were from india at first you eill get a call from an unknown number saing you have recived a government grant for $7,000 and they will spout off your mailing adress and give you another number to call with a verification number. when yo call this  202 number they will tell you that you need to go to western union and deposit $310 to recieve this $7000 grant i looked up this after calling my husband and its a huge scam i found stories exactly like mine DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!
