Who are these people?

I got a call last evening asking for Mr. ****. I said huh and they hung up.

just got call from 777 889 0590.  my husband answered, and the guy said "your wife is a s**t".  wow,

Just now (6:35PM Pacific Time) got a call from this number; no message was left on voicemail.  Thanks to all of you, I didn't even bother to answer.  Thanks!

Just got 2 calls from this number.  First was a short converation until I cut it off, second was a hangup.  The guy knew my first name and asked if anyone in my household had allergies.

Just got a call from this number - person on the other end sounded Indian - asked for me by my first name.  Wanted to do a 45-second survey about respiratory problems, and asked if anyone in my household had allergies.  I replied "not interested, thanks" and immediately hung up.  Certainly sounds shady from the other posts here...

I just got a call from this number.  The lady said she was doing a thirty second survey.  The questions were:  Does anyone in your house have asthma or allergies, What year is your car, What kind of Vacuum do you own, and is your spouse retired.  Huh?

Just recieved call from 777-889-0591. A woman with a heavy accent asked for me by my first name, I said "Who is this" and they immediatly hung up.

Would suggest you not even answer. Got a call from this number a few minutes ago & certainly won't be answering. I just don't answer 800 numbers or ones I don't recognize after similarly strange call from a man with a heavy middle-eastern accent who insisted he had been at my neighbors house earlier in the day & that I needed to go give him a message or check on him because he wasn't answering his phone. He was very unpleasant about it, borderline abusive, when I told him no & hung up when I realized his arguing to keep me on the phone wasn't making any sense.
Why did I say no instead of agreeing to deliver a message/check on my neighbor? Cause the guy was calling from Canada & obviously had never been in my neighborhood or would have known the numbers are not sequential & that house is a block away. He also knew my name & my neighbor didn't. Within minutes after I hung up on him my computer protection shut it down because someone tried to come in thru the modem attached to my number & attempted to access my system. Reported to the phone company who took very seriously, & were going to investigate. P.S. Happy to report that I later introduced myself to the neighbor who was fine but doesn't know anyone in Canada & hadn't had any visitors with an accent. hmmmm

I received a call from this number about 3:30 on this Sunday afternoon.  I asked the obviously Spanish person what he said his name was?  "Burt"  Told him I had never heard of a Spanish person with that name and he said "Sorry to have bothered you, sir" and hung up.

I received a call about five minutes ago.  The caller was not a person that speaks English as a first language.  He asked for me,  and I asked him; " who is this" ?  He quickly hung up.  I'v hadseveral calls recently like this and am thinking y number may have been taken from my medical info.  I recently had surgery and also a visit to the emergency room.  I know of individuals hat have been excessively careful of their personal info.  They not only shrd but also burn the shredded material.  Their info was taken from their medical records and used fraudulently. i don't really think these calls are for research, but to gather more info, not a good thing !

Got a call from this number this afternoon, could not understand the person on the other end. So just hung up

Same call at 1235 today. I didn't answer, but at least now I know why they are calling.

Same thing said they were conducting research questioning on household information.

I got a call from (777) 889-0591, they asked for my wifes name and mine specifically.  They claim they were calling from Western Health Systems. Asking things like "Do you own a vacuum?"  Do you own a car, gas or diesel?  How old is your vacuum?  Stuff like that.

I listened for a bit, then asked: "Who contracts with Western Health Systems to receive the information that you are gathering?"  After a bit of umm and ohhhh, he hung up.

These people called and claimed that they were doing some sort of survey on recycling habits.  She asked a few random questions and as she was ending the call she mentioned that I would be receiving a call back in the future regarding a "promotional giveaway" and hastily ended the call before I had time to object.  The whole thing left me uneasy and I would recommend that anybody receiving a call from this number avoid answering.
