This was a telemarketer for Bell Mobility trying to "give" me a free phone of up to $200 with a 3 yr contract.  NO THANKS!  I am on the Do-Not-Call-List!

I have told these clowns over and over to stop calling me. Yes, the guy is gruff and rude. I tell them to take me off their list. They call anyway. If they call again, I'm going to call  Bell Mobility and complain.

I was called from this number over and over.
Based upon what I read here, I called Bell Mobility and told then that each time their automated machine called me, I would call them. They were not very helpful and asked if I was on the do not call list. I told them that I was on the National list and had told Bell Canada several times to put me on theirs, but I have no relationship with Bell Mobility and should not be called. The rep that I spoke to was stumped and I repeated that I would call again if I received another call..... I told her "talk to you soon".
The number that I called for Bell Mobility was ...
             1 800 667-0123
Perhaps you could call as well and they will stop this stupidity.

I just got called from that number as well.  The caller had an accent and said he was Max representing Bell Canada.  They offered a phone on a two year contract.  I asked where he was and he said he was in Toronto at a call centre.  I asked for the name of the call centre but he wasn't able to give that.  I asked for a number to call him back at because his phone was breaking up really badly (it was) but he couldn't give me a number either.  He said he was able to give me his employee ID and his Social Insurance Number.  I thought that was odd so asked for the info.  His employee # was SIS 123450648 and he gave a SIN that was eight digits long.  I asked what the other number was because it should be 9 digits and he realized he forgot to say one of the numbers and it started with 691 actually instead of 69.  He gave it in 2 digits segments instead of 3 digits like most of us normally do.  I then asked for his address.  I wanted the company address which he didn't want to do but I said if he felt more comfortable he could give me his home address instead which he quickly agreed to (what the????)  He gave me an address on Julf Lake St in Ottawa, Ontario.  Google doesn't give me a Julf Lake in Ontario.  I asked if he meant Gulf and he said no, definitely Julf.  The postal code of his house was T1N 1B7 which doesn't seem to be valid either.
So I had as much as I figured I could get from him so asked for his manager since I wasn't able to trust the information he gave me even though I really wanted to get this phone they offered.  (yeah right)  His boss had gone home for the day and there wasn't anyone more senior than him there.  He said he would have to leave me because we had spent too much time talking and he would call me back tomorrow after I had a chance to think about the offer.  Looking forward to wasting more of his time. :)

Boys am I glad I have a phone that keeps the last 50 different callers ID's.
This is the number : 777 988 0678

This is not a scam, but the person calling is actually working for Bell Mobility.  I finally had enough yesterday and I called Bell Mobility and told them that if they continue to call me, I will put a Trace on the call and report it to the RCMP and press charges.  When I told them this, they told me an email would be sent to the call center to have my number removed... With out Question it is Bell Mobility.

I will press charges if they continue, I'm not shy.  This has been going on for at least a month and a half.  When it first started and I checked the number on the internet someone else had said it was a scam.  So after them calling 5 or 6 times I called Aliant to report this number calling me, they told me it was Bell Mobility and not Bell Aliant calling and for me to contact them.  I used to be a Bell Mobility customer for the last 8 years or so... until this summer when they did not stand up to their side of their offer of a Free phone that I was supposed to be eligible for.

In a few of the bills I received it said "As a valued Bell Mobility Customer I was eligible for a Free Phone upgrade".  So when I went to pick up the phone they wanted my cell phone paid off first... and that was not stated in my bill at all that it needed to be paid off first.

I am now not a Bell Mobility Customer and they are harassing me because I left them.

To Bell Mobility... You Guys Suck Fresh Eggs right out of the arse of the chicken DIM WITTS.

I hope everyone who sees this makes the call to the RCMP and report this as Harassment and sue them for every dime you can.

Just got the same call, same bad connection, etc., so these guys are still at it.

To Crazy, I want to STRONGLY encourage you to NEVER give your social insurance number and birth date to anyone who you think does not have a right to ask you for it.  If these people are crooks (and the likelihood is 99% that they are), the reason they want your SIN is to steal your identity and start opening credit card accounts and other things under your name.  Even worse, depending on how successful they are at finding out where you do your banking, they might try to access your bank accounts.

Please review the very good information on the Service Canada website (which is the Canadian Government website for many citizen-related topics, including the Canada Pension Program, Employment Insurance, Social Insurance Numbers, etc.).  Use this link to go directly to questions about who can ask for your SIN and who you should never give it to:
http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/info/yoursin.shtml

You need to do the following actions, which I've copied right out of the Service Canada webpage from the link above:

What should you do if you suspect someone is using your SIN?
If you suspect that someone is using your SIN, act quickly to prevent personal loss and minimize the negative impact.

?File a complaint with the police. Ask for the case reference number, and the officer?s name and telephone number. If you obtain a copy of the police report, make sure it states your name and SIN.
?Contact PhoneBusters ? The Canadian Anti-fraud Call Centre at 1-888-495-8501. PhoneBusters is a national anti-fraud call centre providing advice and assistance about identity theft.
?Call one of Canada?s two credit bureaus (phone numbers on page 10). Every year, you can request a free copy of your credit report. Review it for any suspicious activity. Also, check to see if your credit file should be flagged?which indicates that your personal information has been put at risk and may be vulnerable to fraud.

I cross my fingers that nothing happens for you, Crazy.  Identity theft is the worst.  Two friends of mine had their identity stolen.  Even though they found out pretty quick that someone was using their identity, they had to battle long and hard to get the whole affair to stop.  It was a long process with the cops and courts.  The problem hinges on one thing:  how do you prove to the courts that you are the rightful person to be using your SIN?  The other person had made up all kinds of fake ID, including a passport with her picture on it, etc., so the problem for the cops and courts was to decide "who is the real person?"  This scammer racked up a ton of money on multiple credit cards, then when she didn't pay the bills, the credit card companies were coming after my friends (because the scammer had found out their address and phone number from the Internet and was using their address on her credit card applications).

Never, never give out your SIN or birth date or any of that personal stuff to anyone who asks for it, People, unless you know they are legit'.  Chances are pretty good the scammers are now using Facebook to find out all kinds of stuff about us that a credit card application requires (i.e. our addresses, phone numbers) then all they have to do is call us on with the phone number that they already know is ours and trick us into giving them the two tougher missing pieces (SIN and birth date).

It is truly a crime that, while we live in a wonderful country where most people respect each other, we still have to be aware that not everyone is honest.  All the best to everyone, and hopefully weblogs like this one will help many people stay safe from the scammers.

From Toronto.  Got a call from this number at work asking to speak to the owner about credit card transactions.  I transfered him to my boss' voicemail.
He called back an hour later and asked for the owner or the person in charge of credit card transactions. I told him that he already called and he kept arguing with me that he hadn't, even though I KNOW that he did.  I said that he definitely had and he said he would call back tomorrow for the owner.

I just got a similar phone call. I could hardly make out the guy  he seemed nervouse and his accent was strong (east Indian) I asked where he was calling from and i heard a voice in the bacground say "tell him Toronto" which seemed strange, you'd think he would already know that he was in Toronto. I told him that I wasn't interested in a contract because I am already in one with Bell. and that if I was selected for a free phone they should send it to me. He couldn't understand why I would not go for this deal. I asked if he had my address, he recited what he thought was my address but  it wasn't right. Finally i told him I was NOT interested and he said that maybe i was misunderstanding the deal and thathis superior would talk to me...he hung up and , the phe rang again it was his superior..... i asked for his ID number B660343 and his name was Billy Adams. Billy tried to convince me as well  I told him i thought it was a scam and i would like to contact Bell... then the call dropped, not sure what happened.
not sure the call was from that number listed above but the conten sure sounded the same, it showed up on my phone as unknown number.

Got a call in English while I'm a French customer. The guy was saying being with Bell.

The offer was a free cell phone and services for 30$/m with a lot of option but no details on the plan or the phone!

Ask for my name, street address and date of birth (DOB). Thereafter the caller wanted my SIN. I said no and he then reverted to my Driver's Permit number.

From there, I hung up and he called back. Hung again.

Another guy called 5 minutes later.

This number called me twice today...first time I wasn't home.  After looking up this forum to see who the number belonged to..this number called the second time and I answered.  Outsourced from India... Bell Solo calling to give me a cell phone.  I said no thanks then he went on to ask me why I didn't want it.  I said I hated Bell Mobility (due to my past experience with them).  He asked for my husband..."This is a very good deal for him!"  I said NO and I asked him to take me off their calling list.
