Same here. I received the letter and immediately did the investigation that others should do. This infuriates me that they can get away with this and people still fall for this.

I got the same letter today with a check for $4996.60. I called "Roy" and got an Asian with a thick accent, not a Roy. Plus, when I asked for Roy, he told me to hold on, then came back to the phone as "Roy". He was very impatient with me. Also, the envelope had no return address and was a dime store prepasted white envelope. It just didn't look right and was too good to be true...so I looked it up and found this site.

Good that you also notified Parker Hannifin. Did you notice that the check does not have a watermark - another sign of forgery! My check was issues from Progressive Casulty Insurance company and I will notify them. Why would an independent third party who has nothing to do with a Lottery issues a check to a person who did not enter a lottery? How dumb or greedy can one be? I guess some are and find out the hard way. Thank God it was not the few of us on these posts who fell victim to this ruthless scam. I'm livid.

Dont get involved, report it to the local FBI, it is defintely a scam.

I wonder how long this has been going on and how many unaware people they have duped. They just started on me this September and are relentless. My wife "fainted" crying from distress on the last call and requested that they leave us alone. I wish I had a way to stop them!

I just received the same letter from Ameriprice lottery syndicates. The scam is not well organized but obvioulsy is netting a few unaware and people who are not cautious. For the past two weeks I have been receiving a couple of calls a day inquiring if I had received this notice and offering to help me confirm my identity for eligibility to take possession of the check. The callers had Jamacian accents and became agitated when I asked too many questions. As indicated by the previous posts, it is a scam. Do not reply execept to the local FBI,

I received the same letter as mb. However the check was from Parker Hannifin Corporation, Cleveland Ohio. These scams are getting pretty clever. Or so they think! The more aware the public becomes about them, the less likely they will be able to scam anyone. I have also notified Parker Hannifin Corporation of this check.

778 area code is located in the Vancouver, bc area. It is mainly used for cell phone numbers but there are a few landlines that use it. It is most likely a scam.

AMERIPRICE LOTTERY SYNDICATES IS A SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!!
| Lottery Scam Warning 2010-04-28 19:33:44 Prank Call |
This is a warning to anyone who might receive a letter from "Ameriprice Lottery Syndicates" or "Region Financial Services" of Las Vegas Nevada. This scam tells you that you have won a lottery amount of $250,000 and that before you receive your prize you are required to pay taxes on the winnings. The notification also includes a check (forged) to cover the taxes. If you deposit the check it will not be honored by your bank.
The telephone number originates from Canada, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have posted a warning about this scam on their website:
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/scams-fraudes/prize-prix-pitch-gagne-eng.htm
It appears that most of the targeted victims are in the United States. If you have received a letter or check from these people please:
- do not call the number listed
- do not give them any information about yourself
- do not cash the check
- contact your local FBI office and file a complaint
If enough people raise a warning about this scam to law enforcement, hopefully these scam artists will be brought to justice.
