I received a check in the amount of $4935.00 from an agency called Apple Structural Settlement LLC claiming that I was one of the winners of a $248,000 and that all I had to to do was pay $3,695.00 for "taxes fees" The letter promised to send me a $248,000 check via UPS or Fedex. The letter stated to "your claim agent" George Anderson at this number (778) 858-1445. The entire thing looked very suspicious and I can't imagine anyone falling for this. Beware!!!!!!

Same with me. The check truly looks real and uses a the Wells Fargo name with an address in Seattle, WA. This is a scam!!!!! But, someone will see the check and believe it is real. DON'T FALL FOR IT AT ALL.

Just recieved the same letter from "Apple Structural Settlement LLC.". The stuff. Called "George Anderson" but he didn't sound like a George to me; His accent was not English. I'm glad that I decided to check it out before doing anything. Thanks for the tips. I'll turn it in to the post office.

Same here, I received a letter that said I won $248,000 . they told me to deposit $4995 ina bank, so i did, and George Anderson told me to pay the taxes fee via Money Gram or Western Union with the amount of $3500. But I was smart enough to research this Apple Structural Settlement LLc online and what I found out was that it was a scam! I didn't send them the money that he was asking for. Instead I waited to clear their check. After a week i recieved a letter from the bank saying that the check i deposited didn't have an account. So good thing i lost only $20 by depositing a fake check.

(continuation from above)
why does the Canadian government let scammers scam people in the U.S.A.? They have to do something about it.

This is a wire fraud scam based out of Vancouver, BC.
Structural settlement is the first sign this is a fake. Structural settlement when your house shifts around...the correct term in the financial world to describe the payout of an annuity is a _structured_ settlement.
George Anderson is probably not this criminal's real name, but it is a local soccer all-star:

Please turn in any such letters to either the local post office, local law enforcement, or the FBI. (Or the RCMP in Canada).
