Phone solitation via autodialers should be illegal in every country and if people are wise they will never contribute to these mostly scammers whoever they say they are or are soliciting for. There is so much info available on the net to verify valid charities and people can donate directly or through companies like Canada Helps so lets put an end to scammers for good.

yes you are right about the CPA. the association exist. but some people are just taking advantage of the association.. i called the police about this TODAY because i am one of the victims.
THE ASSOCIATION IS FOR REAL BUT THE NUMBER WHO CALLED IS A FRAUD. I HOPE THIS MAKES IT CLEAR.

I get calls from them every day now, often call more than once a day. I never answer it and they never leave a message. I've tried the answer/hangup immediately method and they still call. Will be blocking the number to get rid of them. If they were actually the association, they'd leave a message, wouldn't they? If not, they're just like every other telemarketer autodialer and I don't need to speak to them.

This number continuously calls me and leaves a message that sounds like someone dialling an incomplete number. It creeps me out and makes me mad because you'd think that if you don't answer the phone for something once, then why do they insist on calling back a thousand times. Don't trust a number that shows as "UNKNOWN" on your caller display unless its a number you recognize, and I don't recognize this one.

They keep callning me, how do I get rid of them?
JustMe 2012-03-08 20:19:14 Unknown
I just don't like telephone solicitation. How did this person get my number???? It's not registered to the public. And YES, I agree, dont give any info to ppl you dont know personally. I'm pissed that some calling agency has my number.
Irene 2012-03-03 02:31:46 Unknown
I received it today. No one said anything. Does anyone know who this may be?
Sara 2011-09-01 02:25:14 Unknown
want to know who's that
anonymous 2011-08-14 04:44:35 Unknown
Never give donations to a stranger who calls you. Might be a scammer. Might be a legit independent fund raiser who keeps 90% for themselves and sends 10% to the charity. Best to find what charity they are collecting for, research the charity to make sure it's legit, get charity contact info from an independent source, then donate *directly* to the charity so they will get 100% of your donation.

Everybody listen to JP, the same number called me *claiming* to be from that association, however, it was clear he was on a cell phone and he said he was also with Cops For Kids, which is totally unrelated to the CPA. Cops for Kids is from the Vancouver area and they clearly say on their website they don't do phone solicitation.
When I called the number back I got a really fuzzy recording that you had reached Cops for Kids, meaning it was likely recorded off their phone system, using another phone.
Report it!

I let the answering machine take it. The recording left on it was fuzzy air for 4-5 seconds then a disconnect. This is the second time in two months the number has dialed me and left dead air on my machine.

from wiki: They lobby the government for their benefit!
The role of the Canadian Police Association is to:
lobby governments on police-related legislative and policy issues;
provide a collective support network for Member Associations to successfully improve representation and conditions for their own members in collective bargaining, education and training, equipment, health and safety, and protecting members’ rights;
advocate for adequate and equitable resources for policing;
identify key national issues which impact on Member Associations and facilitate the resolution of these issues;
react and respond, upon request, to local policing issues that may have national ramifications; and
liaise with the international policing bodies on issues affecting Canadian police personnel.
