I just received a call from this number. A "Rachel", claimed to be with Human Resources for the District of Columbia and wanted a travel agency for employees of DCgov to book vacations. Which is odd because I lead ghost tours and am not a travel agency....It definitely sounded as though she was calling from a call center.

I received a call from this number said her name was toysa Collin. She told me she was working with all The Guthries and Robert Packer Hospital to save the Employees money! I already offer them a discount and it sounded fishy so I called the Robert Packer and spoke to someone in marketing, she said she did not know what I was talking about!! She made some calls and no one was working with any Guthrie for these discounts!!!!! The women wanted $200.00 up frount and $9.99 per month to advertise with Guthrie!!! It's a Scam I hope business owners research this before giving up your bank info!! Hope I helped thank you;)

We got a voice mail on our business line from a guy named Dominic.  He claimed to work for SUNY Schools in Ulster and Orange County and he claimed to look for DJs for the teachers, guidance counselors, etc.  He said he looked at our website and everything looked good.  He said they are looking for DJ's for Sweet 16's, Weddings, etc.  This sounded to good to be true especially since we've worked with a SUNY school (SUNY Oswego) in the past.  We are an audio and lighting company in upstate New York.  Something told me to google the phone number 888-836-7686 and I was right it's just another junk call.  

Find something better to do with your time "SLIM". You're obviously a failure at what you do so dont take it out on me. I am an attorney that works in Oklahoma City. Let me know if you want to meet with me and we can "chat".

You forgot to tell us that, which strongly suggests you are merely shilling the phone number.

Also, they used a TELEphone to contact people.
They tried to MARKET their services.
That DOES make them a "Telemarketer"!

Actually, they are not telemarketers! I just signed up with them and verified their relationship with OKC. They have a different approach and I understand how it can be questionable but don't knock them until you have given it a chance. I have already gotten a few calls from some of the city employees and 2 of them want to meet with me. Look in the mirror, are you 100% legitimate to your clients all of the time?

I received a call from the same lady, "Diana".
She claimed she was from "Guthrie Hospital" & wanted a counseling center for the employees to go to for grief and other issues. I'm glad I called back and listened to the name of the company and Googled it!

Got a call from  1-631-870-4339 with call back number 1-888-836-7686 ext. 163  Joseph Schnepf, claiming that he talked to someone from a mortgage company that I work with regularly and that he is helping OKC employees with their relocation needs and selling and buying homes in the Metro area...   He had it right that I work with that Mortgage company  and that what made me initially think yeah!! A lead... but no  I started thinking and put the number in, its a Telemarketer...  The methods they are using getting worse and worse!!

Seems to be a scam... I received this forward from a friend- I had read everything on here, but still called to see what this guys pitch.. Voicemail. Didn't leave a message, nor will i call back.

I received a call from a Joseph Schnepf at this number- didn't answer but his VM said that was his name, later in the message said his name was Joe. He said he was looking for agents in the La Jolla area (I am an hour away from La Jolla) to work with clients regarding the VA Med Center. I'm a realtor, and it sounds like BS.

Got a call from this number from a "Deema" saying she was working with Maine Health and they were looking for Reiki practitioners for their health care employees  for"relief of stress, anxiety, insomnia, and just um, know you, generally feeling better."  Yeah.

Received a call message from "Ronny" at 888-836-7686 x 117.  Says he is "working with the San Diego VA Hospital."  The doctors need referrals to investment advisors in our area.  My assistant heard what sounded like a call shop "boiler room" in the background and got suspicious.  She looked up this blog.  We didn't call back.

They sound pretty creative.  They should be stopped.

I received an email fromAndrew Schnepf claiming to need a home stager for Express Jet Airlines. Like everyone else he sounded too much like a telemarketer and pushy. Needed to have me hurry to make a choice today and I found it odd that he thought my company was the best considering I have not been open even a year yet and know other big companies in Houston that are more qualified . I thought it could be a scam so I did my research that lead me here .

Thanks for everyone  posts I now know not to do this even though it sounds like it could be the break my company needs. :(

They called my office on 3-27-14.  Call from Mimi Canone. She wanted to speak with one of they attorneys to discuss a employee benefit program and that they were looking to find a law firm to assist the employees of a local hospital with estate planning.  Thought maybe this was a legal referral service (such as LawPoint, whom we use) but she stated its not.  Looked up the number she told me to call back, 888-836-7686, and found these reports. Glad I did.  Will not be calling them back!

888-836-7686 x262 was the number I received phone calls from. She said, "You will be featured in newsletters, updates and on the private web page we are designing for them. The employees will also have a new free mobile app to download so they can search your business from their smart phones." She asked a lot of silly yes or no questions and talked only about what they were going to do for me. But, when I started questioning her and requesting contact information to the company who's employee's would be receiving our discounts, she was quick to lie and say "Actually. Nick, from Air Team is here right now let me go talk to him and I'll give you a call back." Odd.... my business and Air Team are both in Oklahoma, and she is in New York. There's no way someone from Air Team would have gone up there to meet with "Perks" about silly newsletters.
What an act! haha It was great how she lied and rush getting off the phone, as if she really had to go talk to "Nick" as I was catching her in her lie. For the fun of it, I still like try to call her back to leave long voice messages begging her to call me back. But, no such luck. It's been almost 2 weeks and I still have not her from her...

I just listened to my voice mail and it was pretty much the same thing.  We are a financial advisory firm and this is the voice mail I received;  His name was Renny and he was saying that he was working with the State of SC and the employees he spoke with were looking for direction for their retirement, college funds and household management.  He asked that we call him at 888-836-7686, ext. 117.  I always research these types of calls because of scams and so glad I did!  Thanks for all your posts and hope they help the next person too!  

Renny did not say what company he was calling from but my caller ID had Central in it.  The rest was cut off.

I'm thinking 888? The state of az doesn't have money to pay for a toll free number for business. I was immediately suspicious. Which brought me here.

When I called back "after hours", I'm not stupid, don't call during the day, they said thanks for calling Perks.

I received a call this morning from Steve from Preferred Source.  He said he was calling on behalf of UCAR who were looking for a professional organizer to be part of a preferred network for their employees.  I asked for a number to call him back.  Then I contacted UCAR to check if this was legitimate.  I spoke to someone in their HR department who told me that someone in their employee appreciation department had contracted with a company called "PERKS" to offer discounted vendor service for employees.  HOWEVER, they had NO IDEA this company was asking for vendors to pay an annual price to be a member or that they were using traditional high-pressure sales to get vendor..for example, "if you don't sign up now, I'm going to call 28 other like companies and offer them this opportunity."  The HR Rep was appalled.  

A man identifying himself as "Steve" left a message on my business line saying he was calling on behalf of the University Corporation of Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and he was looking for hypnotherapists to help employees reduce anxiety and for smoke cessation. I was to return a call to him at 888.736.7636 ext. 309, noting that he was on the phone all day; call center voices could be heard in the background. I called after hours and got a company listed as "Perks"; the extention announcement was for a Steven/Stephen Buckley (sic). I called UCAR; during my explanation when I said the name Perks, the remark was "Oh, no, not again!". Long story short, previously UCAR got calls from dentists saying Perks had given them a spiel on UCAR's behalf - untrue.  Beware, folks!

This company is so slick.  Thank God I googled it.  They tried to use a scam to get to talk to the owner of our company.  This should be ILLEGAL!!!!!  

I received the same call and I said they can call me themselves and who do they need a second party to call them.  I'm about to call the Bayonne Medical Center and give them a head's up.

I received the following voice-mail on 11/11/2013 3:54:49 PM:

"Hi. I am working with Bayonne Medical Center and I am looking for an event planner for some of their employees to use for upcoming events, like weddings and holiday parties, private parties... Please give me a call when you receive this message. My name is Steve and I can be reached at 888-836-7686 ext.309. Thanks."

The missed call was from 631-870-4339. Bayonne Medical Center has a 201 area code and is located in NJ. The 631 area code is from Long Island.

I thought this was a legitimate lead until I listened to the message again. Why is a hospital seeking an event planner for their employees? If this was FOR the medical center, that is a different story. These people need to get their scripts together. After reading the posts here, I won't bother calling back.

Received two voicemails from Andrew Schnepf stating that he was interviewing Energy Healers in the Chicago Area to be the selected exclusive provider for Express Jet's 1342 Chicago area employees, whom have been asking specifically for energy healing.  Well, I like to think that anything is possible, and I have had the thought before that it would be a good business experiment to have a corporate client so I called him back for the interview.  

Andrew was loud and salesy and also personable.  As we chatted, he mentioned some of the other Reiki Masters and energy healers who were in the running for the exclusive spot.  I googled them during the call and found that they either didn't exist or were located 1000 miles away.  Now I realized that this was a sales call.  I was extremely turned off!  
I have sold advertising in several forms, one even a directory service similar to this.  A direct and honest approach backed up with numbers is always best.

I emailed the director of People Programs at Express Jet and asked her about it.  She replied that they had an agreement with PerksCard to provide local area discounts on a variety of services for their employees.  To her knowledge no one had specifically requested energy Healing and that Express Jet was offering the discount program to employees not offering Energy Healing to them.

I emailed Andrew that I was opting out and he replied with a smiley face.  

All in all I feel that they are a legitimate service selling listings in a discount program that is part of an employee benefits package.  What ruins the whole thing is that in going after sales they present it as something other than what it is.  Frankly I think that $595 per year is not unreasonable ($50 per month) to be listed with your own web page for an employee group,if it is large enough  But since they are coming at this from a misleading place, I cannot choose to do business with them

On 10/23/13 at 8:03 a.m., a woman named, Michelle, calling from UCSD left a voice message on our voicemail stating that she wanted to talk to a Family Law attorney about referring their doctors and nurses to if they want to file a for a divorce. She left this number to call back: (888) 836-7686 ext. 151. On 10/24/13 at 1:00 p.m., Michelle called back, and I spoke to her where she stated that she wanted to talk to someone about referring clients from UCSD. When I asked her if she is selling something, to verify that she is working for UCSD, and if she is a third party, she just replied, "No, I'm not selling anything and UCSD is one of my clients." I told her that my boss doesn't talk to people trying to sell her stuff. She politely ended the call.

When dealing with telemarketers, you should just ask them more questions, treat them like crap, or just hang up on them. Telemarketers are such useless people on planet Earth.

Got a VM from Scott stating that he actually worked with Northrop Grumman.  Said they needed a photographer, which right off the bat sounded strange to me.  Did a quick search for 888 836 7686 and found this site.  I won't be calling back.  BTW, the call originated from 631 870 4339.

Her name is Diana Ippoliti.  She contacted me by phone and email.  In her email she was honest enough to say she was the a Program Administrator at Perks(I guess that's where the honesty ends!), working with the employees of Tampa General Hospital, looking for a financial advisor for their employees to use.  On the phone she explained there were 6,000 employees that would be referred to me for my services and she was interviewing 20 other financial advisors and needed to pick one for the HR dept of Tampa General.  Caller ID shows 631-870-4339, but directed to call 888-836-7686 Ext 298.  I had turned her down, but was second guessing the opportunity when I decided to look up the #s and found this site..   I'm glad I did..

I got a call from them today, caller ID said the number is 631-870-4339 but the vm message "Danielle" left said to call 888-836-7686 at ext 278. She claimed she was "working with Masonic Villages and looking for a hypnotherapist their employees would be able to contact throughout the year for various hypnotherapies [sic]."

Googled the 888 number and found this page. I thought I'd add mine too simply because it looks like they tailor their lie to fit the business they're targeting. SMH.
