Caller with an Asian accent (possibly Indian or Pakistani) trying to get me to run a program on my computer to check if someone has been putting spy programs on my computer that would affect the security of information I send on my computer.

I always get a phone call with no messages left.  How do I block this?

My place of business has received on a daily basis phone calls from 786 000 0000.  We have asked them to discontinue their phone calls as the person they are asking for does not have any connection to our phone number.  How do we stop this problem.

I just started a local business and they call me every day.

The claim they are from "Bus Link" and need to have my name, etc.

I asked to be removed from their list twice and have literally been laughed at twice.  Do yourself a favor and don't pick up the phone!

Didn't answer it and they didnt' leave a message.

I've received a few calls from this number this week and have not answered. They never left a message, until today. The woman (and I use that term losely) on the end left this lovely message "Blah Blah Blah Bi***!!"  You can bet the next time they call I WILL answer and I'll make it very clear that they had better not call my number ever again!

I answered this one after many, many calls from them that I've left all go to voice mail (no messages ever left.)  The lady said she was with the local business directory and I asked her to put my # on their 'do not call' list.  She responded that they don't have a list like that but she'll look for one.  I started to reply with "Oh come on now...you're calling from a fake Caller I.D. number...." but the line was already dead.

i got a call from that # and it is a friend of mine her name is Rose and i just tryed to call the # back and a answer machine say im sorry that # can not be diale please check the # and dial it again so when she calls me again i will ask her where she go the phone services from she also live in orlando she got the # connected here in miami fl i now it is a cell

Call recieved at my music store - caller identified themselves as being with the Yellow Pages phone directory.

I told them I had already talked to someone about that and they hung up - immediately.

Asked to speak to Mike, I asked where he was calling from - he said the YellowPages.
I told them we have asked them not to call anymore - he told me to eat a dick and hung up.

Caller offered me a free webpage listing but then the woman I was transferred to mentioned the 39.95 monthly fee, I asked that we not do anything, and she hung up.

Our branch office has been getting repeated phone calls from this number for well over a month. We are listed in the do not call registry. We have informed them of that, have asked them to not continue calling, and yet we receive phone calls on almost a daily basis. The caller refuses to give out information, business name, phone numbers, and their own name typically. One of the callers was consistantly rude, and after repeated calls from him, he proceeded to call my employee stupid, as well as the B word. I have called the 800 customer service number and informed "George" of the problem. I mentioned that I didn't appreciate his employees insulting my employees. He stated that they use a third party marketing firm to do their calling, and I told him that they should reconsider that decision. I informed him I had filed a complaint against his company. I advised him that the marketing firm was making his possibly legitimate company look very bad. He apologized repeatedly and said that he would place us on their do not call list, and stated if they did call again, to do everything we could to try to get the callers name, and call him back. We'll see if we do get any more calls.

Just got this call.  I work at a church and they claimed to be "updating our free online listing."  I became uneasy, but when I said we weren't interested, they said that I had no authority to cancel the account b/c the pastor had set it up.  Now, sometimes the pastor does agree to things if he answers the phone instead of me.  He wasn't available, so I had no way to know for sure.  At any rate, I fell for it and now they have my first and last name, and birth month and day.  :(   Dumb, dumb, dumb!!!!!!

Like everyone else, I was told that we would be receiving a "free trial," and that we'd be getting a welcome packet in the mail, and that we could cancel with no obligation.  The woman on the line talked so fast that I could barely understand her, but I did manage to write down the phone number she gave toward the end of her "schtick."  After the call ended, I began searching online for "Amerilink" and wound up here.  I am seriously feeling sick to my stomach after reading all of the comments about not giving out personal information!  I should KNOW better!  I tried calling the number I had written down, and was connected to the Amerilink Customer Service dept.  I explained that I had just been called and that I wanted to cancel b/c I did not feel comfortable with the personal information they had collected.  The man told me that I had been called by an outside telemarketing company, not by Amerilink itself.  He typed in my phone number and said it had not yet been entered into their database. He also mentioned about the welcome packet, and said that I should call him when it arrived and he would cancel the service for me.  I received his name and personal extention.  ("Roscoe" at ext. 220).  I am hoping and praying that all will turn out ok.  I am normally very cautious about scam calls, and am disgusted that they "got me"  :(

I just received a call asking "is the owner of the busines here."  I said, "no, the owner of the business is HERE" . . he replied "oh, that's what I mean't."  Its funny because these idiots seem to get angry and insulting when they cold call and get people with accents or who speak little or no English, yet they seem to have a serious problem with their own use of the language.

I like MRHORN's answer to the problem.  I'm going to have to shop around for a nice airhorn to keep in my desk!

I always ask them to hold for Mr. Horn, then I grab up a compressed air boating horn and give 'em a big blast, God it feels so good.
I am thinking about removing our numbers from the "Do Not Call" list, just to make myself more available.
Why don't these beings get a more honorable profession, like prostitute, diug dealer, illegal immigrant, suicide bomber, attorney, community organizer, or even "squeaker" of the house ?

Called again today.  This time I got a live operator who identified the business as Bizlink, a web based business locator service.  I requested to be put on their do not call list.  Let's see if it works this time.

Just got a call from this number, unknown name on caller id.  This shows just how effective the new law on caller id spoofing is (not at all).

I GOT A CALL A CALL FROM THESE PEOPLE AND LIKE EVERYONE ELSE THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY RUDE.  THE FIRST INDICATION THEY ARE NOT LIGITIMATE IS THEY BLOCK THEIR TELEPHONE NUMBER.  I FOUND THEIR NUMBER 1-800-626-9515,AND CALLED THEM BACK. I INFORMED THEM IF I GET ANOTHER CALL, MY LAWYER WOULD BE CONTACTING THEM.  I HAVE A PRIVATE INVESTIGATION BUSINESS AND THEY DO NOT THINK THEY CAN BE LOCATED DUE TO THE BLOCKED CALL.  ONCE THEY REALIZE "YOU CAN REACH OUT AND TOUCH" THEM, IT MAKES THEM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.  THEY ASKED FOR MY NUMBER SO THEY CAN PUT ME ON THEIR 'DO NOT CALL LIST'.  I DID NOT GIVE IT TO THEM AND REMINDED THEM OF THEIR CALLER ID.  SHE TRIED TO SAY THE PEPOPLE CALLING ARE THEIR MARKETING FIRM.  I REMINDED HER THE MARKETING FIRM IS CONTRACTED BY THEM AND AND THEREFORE THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND I WOULD SUE HER COMPANY.  SHE STATED SHE WOULD PUT ME ON THEIR DO NOT CALL LIST.  I WILL SEE IF IT WORKS.  BUT IF NOT I AM GOING TO BE "PAID."

Got a call from this number, guy says he's from Ameribiz and is updating our free listing.  I'm always skeptical about these things so I agreed with his information then he asked for my name.  I said I don't feel comfortable at all giving it out because it sounded like a scam...he said "ok..." click!

Ditto those who got a call from "BizLink."  I had some acid rock playing on my PC so I answered on speakerphone and treated the scum caller to some of my tunes.  I yelled over the music so she knew I was here...she started her pitch and I replied 'What?  I can't hear you over the music. Please turn it down."  Eventually she hung up.  She is welcome to call again.

calls no breathing no long wait to hang up . ...may have called before  we paid attention to caller ID .  We have had recent calls for web listing.
BTW who is 800notes?   are you the guys calling ? scam upon scam ...perhaps i am the scammer looking for ISP's can't trust anyone ....cold calls are just bad news  ..I do get calls from local chiropractor and i am then polite with my no thank you
