Same thing here. We got super excited about someone responding to "item wanted" ad on Craigslist. Got a little suspicious when i text the person back and got no answer and then I called and a recording says something about being unavailable. The text image I got I couldn't open it with my phone so I tried on my desktop. Downloaded GIMP and still couldn't open it. All that is now uninstalled and I'm about to run my AV ..hopefully no virus :(.. I wonder what this person gets out of this..

Same with my Craigslist post, asked me to go to another site, definite scam

I got a text message from this number regarding a craigslist posting. When I tried to call back, I got a "busy" signal. I replied to the text and never heard back from them. Glad that I looked it up. I'm in Massachusetts and didn't recognize the area code.

I see others have had this same person reply. My message was:


"Hi, I saw your bike ad, my boyfriend wants one same kind as this <pic-attach>http://picsoft.org/?photo=898MBV - Is it the same kind? Buying him 1 this week."

I also received a text from this number. Must be something weird

CTried to run that raigslist ad scam in Kansas too

yeah, no pics pull up and can't call the number back  ....definetly a scam

I got a call from my ad on cl to go photo-host . net it was a scam but the phone # was 408-840-2043

Tried to pull it up but the page was unavailable; so I searched for it on Bing and found the other postings saying they got the same text....

Yeah!  I got an answer from my ad on CL from that number.  It also sent me to http//photo-host.net.  Dumbass me went ahead and tried to get to the web site and it loaded a bunch of BS onto my computer.  Nothing bad though.  I was able to uninstall it pretty quickly.  Lesson learned.  786 numbers are NO GOOD!

i too received a text from my wanted ad on craigs list, i am not going to the link tho. I don't want to get a virus or something.

i posted an add on craigslisst and then i got this text good thing i jus ignored it tho'

I posted an ad from craigslist and withing minutes I received a text stating that they had what I was looking for, but that the image was on another website. The 786 is not in CA so there is something fishy going on here.

Got a text to go to this website from this with a photo id, was a complete scam

Seemed like a craigslist scam.  I'm near Panama city and the number appears to be from Miami.  Real broad and kinda a coverall message about my posting.  Waste of time.
