I think this is associated with academicdegrees.net. I signed up through an email from Beyond.com -- I was using it during my job search, and the email was about furthering my education, which I thought meant grad school. I decided "what the heck" since I am applying to grad school... BIG MISTAKE: now i get like 3 calls a day from different numbers. I kept telling them in the beginning I graduated from college already (which is what they seem to focus on, NOT grad school), and they said they would take me off the list, but obviously that didn't happen. They sometimes seemed pissed, like I was wasting THEIR time, because after I'd say "I already graduated from college" they would say "Ok then we probably can't help you" and hang up... So rude.

Anyway, now I just ignore all the calls, and save any number I find out is associated with academicdegrees.net into my iPhone under the same name (in this case "spam"), and block the contact.

I saw somewhere that these numbers are spoofed, so it looks like it is coming from a certain area code, but your phone is being tricked or something...? Which makes sense, because I got my cell phone in illinois, and I got a bunch of calls from Illinois numbers.

Stop calling me.  Your solicitation is not requested.

This is another one of those call centers trying to get people to enroll in an online college program through ITT Technical Institute, Heald, Phoenix University, and all the other unaccredited schools whose units/credits don't transfer.  I've told them to stop calling me, but they don't.

I accidentally clicked submit on a survey I filled out assuming it was associated with a resume I filled out. It was for Career Institute and they must have hundreds of numbers because I've called and been removed from their call list from the following numbers:

732-813-5621 (NJ)
951-266-5548 (CA)
951-266-5507 (CA)

They almost immediately call with another number when I remove myself from one that just called. Best advice, that I learned the hard way, is if you are using multiple job search engines to put your resume out there apply directly to the company if it is listed so avoid this hassle. One accident that makes me want to get a new number.

Another waste of my time averted; I didn't answer. And now, he's on my blocked callers list. Ain't technology grand?

I pressed 2 to get off their calling list then a few hours later they called me from a different number. I pressed 2 for that number and they called me a third time from a different number. Two from CA and one from FL.

THIS GUY CALLED ME BY MY NAME EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A PRE-PAID PHONE,HE IS GETTING OUR NAMES FROM RESUMES,NEVER EVER PUT YOUR SSN ON RESUMES,YOU NEVER KNOW WHO SAYS IS HIRING!

I just don't answer, if its important,  they'll leave a message for me to call them back. But there are a few numbers that are monitor numbers. Meaning someone will monitor phone if you answer that number.

Not the first time this has dialed me.  Have changed the recordings of both landline-our home/business- and my cell to reflect the business aspect and to leave message. This takes care of Most of the crank calls. Terrible to leave my cell on mute-flash though!  There are no longer Any teeth to the Do Not Call registry, and there were few to begin with!

9/04 13:07 2nd call today from this group, only difference is #.  Don't know who they are or what they want, what I want is for them to stop bothering me!!   Previous call was from 951-266-5507.  Even with a call blocker that allows 1200 blocks, how do we defend ourselves from the proliferation of scammers, spammers and con artists?

I messed up and filled out the online Dollar General sweepstakes entry to win $1000. In order to be entered, I had to wade thru several pages of questions. Most I answered no, but one was "Do you own a car?", and I said yes. Big Mistake.

Funny you should say that ... You're posting on here as well. I work for an agency who takes care of these types of calls. My job is to search reported numbers from all blog sites.  So, the answer to your post is YES these postings work.

I use the same technique with all these calls. Bear in mind, when you answer JUST ONE of these, your number gets activated and within a day you'll get a TON more of scammers.

So what do I do?

I answer the phone for the scammers as, "Tustin Police Department - how may I direct your call?" Believe me, they HANG UP and they take your phone number off their list and never call again.

I have been getting bizarre phone calls from some very shady people and they all say they are some type of online class program. On the ones I have picked up they have said they offer online classes in a very aggressive manner. When you try to interrupt them, it is hard to get a word in, and when I finally am able to talk, they hang up. One of these bizarre phone numbers I looked up, I found its area code had no listing...I'm serious...very disturbing. The number is (855) 969-0782. The other numbers I am getting are as follows: a) 786-358-9598, b) 951-266-5548, c) 925-357-4000, d) 954-784-2015. I am going to post this message for all of these numbers listed. If I get any more numbers to this list I add it to my post. If anybody has had problems with any of these numbers report them immediately so we can shut these scam artists down!!!

We received a call today from this number at 6:44 pm. The caller ID was "CLASSES AND CAREERS". They left no voice mail message. When I called back I got a recording about the Career Institute. I've gotten calls from them at these numbers: 951?266?5507, 951?266?5548, 732?813?5621. Each time I call back I get the same recording.

They have called everyday and I ignore the calls.

I am curious.  Do people really call the police for this type of thing?

Um.......clearly you can see, these sites are forums for people to get a clue as to who might be calling them.

The people who call you DO NOT SEE THIS and DO NOT CARE.


Utilize do not call list or report to local BBB or fcc or whatever.

YOU have to take action.

I cannot believe how dimwitted some people are to go on here and say stop calling me or appeal to empty air for them to stop.

It amazes me how many of you people think this is the place to communicate TO the number that called you.

This is ONLY a site that allows you to warn others about getting calls from a particular number.

This has noting to do with communicating to the actual people, so, stating here, "please do not call again", or "stop calling me" is as useful as spitting in the wind.

Unwanted solicitation from this company.  I am un the National Do Not Call Registry, but, they ignore that fact!!!
