I suggest everyone that is getting this phone call to make a police report with your local police station I am also forwarding this to the FBI for the fact that they read my social security number off to me. I have been calling them all day and they keep hanging up and then when I finally talked to the guy and told him to google his own phone number and look at the reports and that I was informing the FBI he said oh well you don't have proof and hung up in my face. They called my phone for 8 hours straight and so since they want to play on my phone and try to scam me I am going to continue to call them non stop. People are sick can't get money the legit way by getting a job you have to steal SSN to scam money off people.  I would also suggest you all run your credit report and check for fraud things because I keep getting phone calls from payday loan places stating I applied for a payday loan and I have not so I think that is what they are trying to do is get pay day loans in peoples name. Im not letting this go I will see it through because this is ridiculous on how they continue to harrass me. SCAMMERS

I received a call from Mike Foster from this number. He had the last 4 #'s of my SS# and also stated that if I do not call i am going to jail and that i am in big trouble...did not call since reading all the posts. thank you for all the input

Received a call from this number 916-469-8861 this morning and the last few days  stating they are from the attorney generals office from Sacramento ,Ca ,claiming they have legal case against me for fraud  an and if  I have an attorney to represent me or I will be arrested and be prosecuted and sent to jail  I then asked him send me the case number and legal paperwork so my attorney can see what im being charged with I then said i will be contacting FBI on this matter he hang up this is a scam not not believe this whoever is receiving these calls

A man with a heavy accent identifying himself as Andy William (right) called my work looking for an employee. He indicated that he was with the Legal Dept. of the State Attorney.  Andy wanted the employee to send money and verify her social security number and if she did not by the end of the day the sheriff would pay a visit to her home or business.

Called my phone this morning and said I owe him money he needs to be arrested! !!

Thank you these past few weeks I have been getting so many calls from people with Indian accents stating that they are from Atty's Office and that I owe money due to unpaid Pay Day Loan which I don't recall. And they are stating in their voicemail messages that the Sheriff's office will come to my work and or home if I don't return their calls.

I don't know what to do. Should I just disregard and block their phone numbers?

It's a real scam.  These are scammer/extortionists working out of India.

Anytime you receive a phone call from someone with an Indian accent either threatening you or offering you something you can be pretty sure it's a scam.  Nothing against Indians, that's just the way it is now.

You might invest in a call blocker.  Also, do not pick up on phone numbers you do not recognize.

Just received a phone call from this number 916-469-8861 this guy calling with heavy accent claims he is from the Atty General's Office and he claims that I need to call back regarding my case. He didn't leave me a case# or what the reason I am being sued for. Is this for real? I have been receiving calls for odd numbers these past couple of weeks. This is so annoying.

Go off on them like I did today. The guys name was daniel smith and eric johnson. I actually have a attorney for another situation im going through and when he told me i was going to go to jail for 7yrs because if a ssn issue, i told him quick that i had identity fraud done to me a few years ago and i have my ssn secured with irs and ssa. I also told him "since im being recorded its only fair to let you know Im recording the conversation too, (which i was) and once this conversation is done ill be emailing this to my attorney asap!" ....Haven't heard anything from them since.

Called them back they hung up on me called back again told them I reported they two phone numbers they called from to the ft and various attorney generals offices.

Same guy named John Williams called from 7137668994 this morning and now this number.  Left me a message on my phone at work.  Calling him back to f@#k with him like he's doing to me.

Male voice with a very heavy accent keeps calling and telling me that there is an warrant out for my arrest.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

This jack*** has called me 16 times so far today, and just cussed my fiance out.

Around past 11 am while at work, my manager calls for me saying I have a call and when I answer it, I at first thought it was one of those telemarketers offering me cash advance services for I did make such requests a few days ago. So I right away tell this caller that I am no longer interested, and then he interrups me saying no thecall is not an offer from a cash advance loan company but from the State Attorney General's Office, and that charges will be filed against me. At that, I refused to listen to what else he said, and then asked for his number, which he gave freely, 916-469-8861. He also said he tried calling me on my cell earlier but I did not answer so he will file charges.I did not answer as I was at work. Later, I get a call from the same number, this time he says he is Gerry Beltran from the State Attorney General's Office, at which I immediately told him off not to call again or I would call my lawyer. Which I already did right after the first call, and my lawyer tried to call this number but to no avail. A co-worker then googled this number and lo and behold, I see more than one too many complaints against this number, saying they got similar demands and threats if they would not comply. The accent of the caller appears to be Asian Indian. I am filing a complaint against this call and hope action gets taken against this number/caller.

Somebody called from this number looking for my husband he said he is from the Attorneys General office at first I believe him and I  even called my husband to call him back. My husband said his yealling and very rude to him saying you will be arrested because you put more than your making to apply for pay day loan and you can go to jail for 7 years!!!

a man with a thick accent called me at work and said he was from the attorney generals office and i owed back taxes to the government and needed to pay right away. i asked for a call back number and told him to never call my job. he asked if i was mad at him? and said he ws sorry but he needed me to call back as soon as i was off. i hung up and searched the number and found a bunch of scam alerts!!

A couple months ago I got a call from this number over 200 times! Said that I lied on a loan application and I was going to jail for ten years if I didn't wire him 1000$ I went roo the police station and filed a report. He started cussing out and threatening the MP that answered the call. I changed my number and got another call today on my new number. Going to report it again.. very annoying

Yes, I have received calls from a man who says his name is James Smith.  Says I owe money on a loan I never had.  He also has my social security number. he has called my job, talk to my supervior.  He has called at least 20 times but would not have details on this loan he says I owe money on. He also told my I was going to be arested if I did't pay. STOP CALLING MY!

I have been receiving unwanted calls for at least once a day for the last two months or more from the number  916-469-8861 from a man with a thick Indian accent. The first name was Edward Marshall and the names that this person uses changes daily. Other names that I can remember him using Raymond Roy, Stewart, Marvin, Robert and many more. He says there is a law suit against me at the California State attorneys' office. When asked what the call was regarding he indicated he couldn't tell me and gave me the name of someone to call and that I needed to have my lawyer contact him right away. Though he says he cannot give me any other information until I call his boss, he generously gives any information he has to my coworkers. I blocked his calls from my cell phone but he continues to call and harass me at work. If you receive a call from this individual you will hear in the background an office environment that includes phones ringing and people of Indian accent talking. Hopefully this scam will be exposed soon by the authorities.

Calling place of employment trying to contact people.  Had wrong information.  Almost gave me his SSN.  Thick Indian accent, lots of background noise, rude.  Threatened to send sheriffs down to arrest my employee and ruin our reputation.
