Is there anything we can do?

I received a call from them last night. everything you stated is what they said to me. Wanted $250.00 only difference is the law office he called from.

also saved the voice mail.

Just received the same phone call for this Jason Stark left a message and said the same thing to me also received a e-mail from this same person last week saying the same but on paper.

There is about nothing your local PD can do, but it's kind of the officer to try, and good to alert them that the police station may get more calls from potential victims. I would bet the scammer refuses to believe he's in law enforcement and curses him out as well.

This is extortion dressed as debt collection. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. As early as possible it's critical to determine if your collector is domestic or yet another South Asian faker. The former you can sue into submission; the latter tend to be out of reach.

"Jason Stark" called me from this number today. He rattled off the charges that were going to be pressed against me if I didn't pay him $522 today. He changed his tune later in the conversation saying that if I sent $200 today the rest could be resolved in the coming weeks. I started getting suspicious when I started asking questions and he began to yell at me. I told him I was asking legitimate questions to find out what was going o and he didn't need to yell. He told me he was going to call the local police department and have a warrant issued for my arrest. I told him that I would also be calling them. He hung up on me and I have not heard back from him since. I did call my local police separtment and did make a report. The officer said he would call him and tell him to stop harassing me.

these b..tards called me this AM and threatened to take action if I or my lawyer did not call back and ask for "John Marsh" who was apparently East Indian. My suspicions went up when I used a friends phone to try to find out who they were and they wouldnt ID themselves. My wife who has a law degree told me that the call was probably a scam to get the called party to fork over some money that they (the bogus law firm) would claim that are owed to somw organization and they are the collection agents. John Marsh said that he was an attorney but would not udentify the name of his law firm. when I started pressing him for more info about himself he just hung up. c'est la vie

I received a call from a Jason Stark at 786-528-3074 and he said that American Cash Advance was issuing legal papers against me that included 17 different counts of fraud due to non payment of loan.  He said I would be arrested and I should get a lawyer.  Then he changed his tune and said that I could resolve the problem today, out of court, if I could pay the $522.00 immediately.  He gave me a case number and told me to call him back for instructions when I could get him the money but it had to be before 6:30pm est.  He said my employer would find out about my actions and it could result in my getting fired, my family and friends would find out and my credit would be ruined.  When I check my cell phone there was a message from them also saying if I didn't call them back then "Good luck to you."  These people are sick and disturbed!!!!!  I found on another website that this is a scam and they are just trying to get money out of people.

Very thick accent threatening a lawsuit and arrest. Honestly couldn't even get the words out correctly. I finally told him it was the wrong number and hung up.

A client of mine rec'd the same phone call today. I called back and the person on the phone identified himself as a member of Winston and Associates, a law firm based out of Washington DC and also has offices in New York and somewhere else...

Called me threatening me that I was getting sued and ill get arrested. Threaten to do things with my social and work. I believe its a terrorist funding scam...PLEASE PLEASE GET THESE PEOPLE!
