Never Seen this area code before. Didn't answer. Glad I looked it I will report it and block so they cannot call back again.

Thank God I'm not the only one. Two calls tonight - first one had just a noisy background and no one speaking. Second call was the old Windows scam. Said we had a Mac and no problem and then got a third call from the same number a half hour later. Didn't bother to answer it. I's like to know how to put a stop to these ridiculous "phishing" expeditions!

Called me twice tonight - saying my windows business computer needed an update.

Nope, they haven't though its getting rare to see anyone posting they got money and gained access now day's.  They keep hoping though.  I have seen some posts where they have started threatening people or getting gross though.  Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Received a call at 10:17 pm from 789-548-7960 on Sunday June 17.  Never had one before but it mimics the calls that told me my computer had a serious virus.  This call, I just told them where to go and hung up. I am tired of these calls...haven't the offenders yet figured out their scam is not working?  

I have received 2 calls, one at 9:45 PM, the other at 11 PM.  No one on the other end.  I am on the Do Not Call registry, but it doesn't seem to deter these people.

They are still calling.  When will these idiots EVER learn.  Fortunately, having call display, I only answer when there is a lawyer friend of mine here.  Each time they call he is able to get a little bit more information.  The time will come when they will definitely regret calling my number.

Scammer for sure. They shut up real fast after I asked why Microsoft's website said this sort of thing was a common scam.

Just called me here in BC.  Didn't answer as called ID was "unknown", so that number, 789-548-7960, is now on my "blocked" list.  If I don't recognize a number and they don't leave a message, I always block the number.

Can't block a call when they use fake and different numbers all the time.  Wish it would but it doesn't work

I just use a whistle.  Now they don't call me any more *evil smile*   Nothing else works!

The caller identified themselves  to be from WINDOWS SUPPORT.  He said my computer ID has alerted them that I have some kind of virus and he will help me.

It is the Event Viewer Scam.  They try to convince you to let them access your computer.  

I strung him along for a while...  He said, "Control key on bottom-left corner of keyboard". I said, "my left or your left?"

It was kind of fun.  Then I said, hold on, and put the phone by my crying baby for a while.  He eventually hung up.

The people have called the last 2 nights at 11:30 pm when we are sleeping. Please let me know how to reported unwanted phones.  Thanks.

They're kind of like retarded. I know, that's a clinical thing. Trolls are Trolls though. We call them when we see them.

I didn't get any of those people who posed as those computer engineers.
Called on a tuesday night at 10:10pm whoever it was sounded drunk. They kept yelling and screaming, it also sounded like they had bad connection. I put it on speaker near my dad and he yelled at them to shut up. So I think the call I had was just a prank call instead of the scam.

I have had daily phone calls from these idiots over the past fortnight - and am now discussing with some legal friends as to how to not only stop them but also am considering a lawsuit for some financial gains for me.  These idiots deserve to be sued as consistently as they make phone calls.

Called the last two nights after I was already in bed as I get up early.  Haven't answered and after reading your good posts I won't.  I have a Mac and don't even have Windows.  Thanks for the help.

Excuse me Resident47, how exactly are we supposed to stop them when there is ZERO info to give?  That's what there is to share - ZERO!

10:30 on a Sunday night for me too, not cool.  I get up at 2:50am.  So much for being on the Do NOT Call Registry.  Will be reporting it

Here in Canada we have an option that allows one to block these kinds of idiots. I used it often in the beginning and no more unwanted calls to deal with now.

We got the same phone call twice 6:43 pm and 7:46 pm. My husband answered both calls and the first call told my husband our computer has a virus but of course we both know our computer is fine. My husband asked him not to call again but an hour later we got the second call and and my husband told him that he was told not to call again, the guy on the other end told my husband it's me he wants to talk to and my husband asked him why and the guy said he wants to f*** me. My husband asked him again as he wasn't sure what he just said then again the guy said " I want to f*** you wife" so my husband gave the phone to me as I was talking to the guy and asked him why he called here he told me he wants to f*** me. I can't believed what he told me I never been mistreated and talked to me like that in my life I told the guy we got his number and we will report him to the cops and I hanged up. Hopefully those kind of people and the company that they work for get some sort of punishment they deserve. Note: the guy has an accent.

This number has been calling 3-4 times a day for over 2 weeks now! Last night they called at 10:05pm - I answered and told them not to call this number especially at this hour! Received another one at 10:43pm!!!! Very frustrating!

This call comes late @ nite (last nite 11:15 PM). I answered the other evening - unable to understand a thing the gentleman (& I use that loosely) was saying. Enough is enough!  Please do something about this!!

After reading these comments, I picked up the second time they called me (LATE at night!). I "followed" her instructions for a few minutes and then I started answering all her questions with: "mama mia diarrhea!"  until she hung up! Have fun with these jerks....

In case anyone wonders if it is a scam - 789 is not a real area code !

Thank you so much.  Good advice!!  Same thing is happening to us.  Calling late at night.  So glad I didn't give them any information.  I hope no one else falls for this type of nuisance call.
