Having had worked for DeVry for two years, I know all the ins and outs and what you need to do to get your name removed from the "list". The reasons names appear in a lead bank to begin with are numerous, either:
- someone filled out a survey from a pop up on a site related to needing an education (sometimes simply job searching on Career Builder or Monster and forgetting to uncheck a box asking for education info)
- the person requested information about an online education or specific degree program (your information gets sent to about 20 different online schools)
- a request was made for general information about online programs (to which your info also gets sent to numerous schools)
- you requested information directly from DeVry, you were searching online and filled out some sort of free quiz and it entailed needing a associates or Bachelor degree that you don't yet have).

An admissions advisor is required to call all leads in the beginning twice, once in the morning and once at night. Notes are left in the system to inform anyone else who may accidentally get the lead information about who they spoke with, what was said, etc. etc.

Each lead is scrubbed through the NDNC (National Do Not Call) registry before being dispersed to an advisor. If the number is on the list, a bolded note in the 'Comments' section reads: NDNC List and the advisor is only supposed to email the individual. Sometimes, by accident, the advisor does not notice the comment (because it has been pushed to the bottom by new comments) and will call. Simply let the advisor know that you are on the DNC list and request not to be called.

Now, to not receive any calls anymore:
1. Tell the advisor you accidentally requested information and were not looking to take classes. They will ask you why you changed your mind, etc. etc. but you can tell them you must have accidentally filled out a form and that's how they got your information but you were like for them to close your file.
2. Tell them you are not interested and to please not call anymore but close your file. The good advisors will get you talking and ask a lot of questions so if you want to chat during the day this is a good way to do it. If you do not request your file to be closed a note will show up in the system simply stating "Individual not interested" and your info will get routed to another advisor down the road who will check back to see if plans have changed (many people are not interested at one point but change their mind once they stop receiving a bunch of calls).

Hope this info helps! Good luck!

Like the others, I have b een recieving a lot of calls from this number or from a 407 number with a message to call this toll free number. It is DeVry University. Don't know how they got my name, they claim that I requested information (I never did) and that they are following up on that. They disregard my comments about not being interested and never contacted them and they go on by saying, "That's okay. I can help you.) ??? Duh!

I  haven recieved calls from several different people all with the same speil. They sound like kids, fresh out of high school or attending college, amateur telemarketers trying to make a living, but very unprofessional and wet behind the ears.

I can only assume that they must be under a lot of pressure to close, close, close the deal and probably get very little real training.

So from now on when their number shows up on my caller ID, I just disregard it and let it go right into voice mail. Their messages are so cute - sort of like hearing a child trying to communicate for the first time and having great difficulty in expressing themselves.

While I believe strongly and passionately in education, I have no desire to go to a school like DeVry especially now that I have seen the type of people they hire to contact potential students.

I repeatedly have asked to  be taken off their call lists. I have no interest in attending their school, it is way too expensive and doesn't suit my needs. However, the calls continue usually by a different person using the same lines. It sounds like this outfit has a lot of turnover and/or is deliberately violating FTC and DNC list rules by merely passing our names on to other people in their boiler rooms.

This is reasonably easy to fix - dial DeVry at 877-492-6861 (and get through the prompts), and ask them to remove you from their telemarketers list.  They seemed ready to do this, so I'll see if it works.
If it doesn't work, I'll try going through the system to stop this.

I have asked these people on numerous occassions to take my name off their call list.  They call and don't leave a messages.  At their peak, they were calling 6 - 7 times a day!  Now, I just received two calls within 7 minutes of each other.

i put my phone number in on their website to get more information about this school. when i had my phone interview, i made it clear to the girl that i was looking into other schools. i was considering the school, until she continued to call me every single day. i don't answer my phone, unless i know the number that's calling, and every voicemail i get sounds like annoyed and just wanting to get it done and over with. devry and westwood college are the biggest reason why i look into schools before i attend them.

I have received the same calls, two times in the past two days. I went on their website, they told me to call the local office and ask to be removed from the call list. FYI, they don't open till 9, which I was not told till I'd already spent money on calling. Why they sell your number the moment it gets kind of near the system, I don't know. It's illegal if you're on the National Do Not Call Registry. Very annoying. Best of luck to all with this situation.
