Received a call asking if I would give up my current company 800 number because they just printed over 300,000 advertisement brochures for their client with my 800 number.  The 800-237-3108 is a call back number I was given.

I got the same call and am glad that someone is looking into it. The service that has my 800 number says it is illegal to sell a phone number. Thanks and please post any news.

I not onnly got a call from this #, I then received a call from 800-657-7333 for a guy who represented himself as Michael Howard with Larence Advertising.  My brother, as attorney is looking into this not only as a fraud, but as a felony.  lawrence Advertising is located in Illinois, thier 800#s belong to someone else.  This is a scam.

I was just contacted by Jonathan Kaplan, who told me that his ad agency inadvertently printed 300,000 hospital brochures with my toll-free number on it.  He asked me if I could transfer the number to him out of the goodness of my heart.  He was VERY smooth and polished -- it sounds like he has used this pitch hundreds of times.  I'm sure a lot of people fall for this ruse, but I Googled his number (1-800-333-3283) and found this web page.  Thank God for the Internet!

We just started receiving the same scam-related call from Jonathan Kaplan looking to take over one of our directed 800 numbers.  I found it odd that an AD agency would not have a single Google hit.  Further searching eventually got me to this site.  This is also the second time we've heard this story.  It happened over 2.5 years ago, with the same sob story.  I've asked my receptionist to transfer him to another number, that just happens to ring in the AG's office.

We just got the same call from Johnathan Kaplan @ Lawrence Advertising.

We have had multiple conversations with someone identifying himself as Johnathan Kaplan with Lawrence Advertising seeking to aquire one of our (800) numbers. He started with the story of accidentally printing our number on a large quantity of promotional materials for a client. The idea initially was to scare us into tranferring our # to them to avoid all of the erroneous calls being charged to us. I have tried calling the (800) 237-3108 to reach Mr. Kaplan and did so successfully last week, yet today I have tried it twice and both times it rang to a residence in New York where no one knew Johnathan Kaplan.
