Thanks for this.  If the Highlights subscribers (which I am one) all called over the next 30 days to corporate HQ and threatened to cancel, that might cause them to rethink this marketing decision.

They were highlights magazine which I had ordered through my daughter's school. The lady said they would give me the magazine for only $2 an issue. Then said they would send 36 issues. I said wait a minute, how much is this going to cost? She said 4 payments of $17.  I said I don't think so, that's a lot of money, and hung up on her.

As if they weren't already making a fortune from doctors' and dentists' offices (the only places you ever see Highlights).  
I'm surprised Goofus hasn't chopped up the Timbertoes for firewood already.

This is a discussion forum where one can report or describe suspicious or unknown phone calls, but reporting them here does not stop the calling.  YOU have to take action to do that!

I'm only posting to provide another angle to these robo calls and marketeers.  Whenever you can, do not provide your personal info such as phone number, address, email address.  Even it's the local grocery store. If you stress that you do not want your info sold, shared or rented to others, and do so with conviction that you do not want any business from others and that includes phone calls.  The Direct Marketing Association, i.e. DMA collects our info, basically for mailings, but they may also be selling our phone numbers as well. I tried for years to get off mailings and DMA has an opt out policy that charges you to get off their listings that they sell to others.  Talk about blackmail and they are not the only info gatherers.  They make money from the naive consumer and businesses that may not be legit.  I just emailed my local State Attorney General's office but it may be a good idea to forward a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission that handles the Do Not Call Registry.  I think that consumers have the right to say no and mean no to our info being sold rented or shared.  Also, order copies of your credit report and if there are any credit checks for others that you were not aware of, contact them and tell them not to exchange your info.  That's how I found out about another marketing agency that gathers our info.  Thanks to the holes in the Do Not Call registry, we're two steps behind Identity Thieves.
By the way, I called Highlights and told them that their opt out website wouldn't let me "opt out" so the CSR manually input my request.
Keep putting the pressure to get stricter fines and better opt out policies!

DNC list is a joke.  Telemarketers are trying to make a buck, I get that.  But getting your number off their calling lists is unnecessarily complicated, and efforts to achieve that are are most of the time ignored.  Lists of numbers are bought and sold all of the time and people get harrassed for no fault of their own.  

The company that calls ad infinitum, or uses robocalling, or ignores requests to be removed from their calling list almost guarentee that whoever they are calling will be too disgusted to purchase what they are hawking.  And they will tell others.  800 notes exists to help people who are incessently called find out who is calling.  You will never get a positive response from me or I would guess anyone else who recieves unsolicited calls if you won't leave a message, call at reasonable times, put away the script you use and take a polite "no thanks" for an answer.  

Do you get repeated calls at odd hours that don't have the courtesy to leave a message?  If you don't, please tell the rest of us how this can happen for us.  Then you will have some creds with the annoyed public you contact.

Caller ID says Toll Free Caller. They call 3 times a day,every day.They do not leave a message so we didn't know who it was.My child receives the Highlights magazine and we receive all the other offers by mail already.Thanks for the link so that we can stop the calls.

Please stop these annoying calls.  getting calls multiple times daily and they done hang up which leaves my line open!   Must be stopped!!!!

They call me every day also.  Why can't we get some officials- who are elected to serve us- to get some teeth in the Do Not Call registry?

I get more junk calls each day than the ones I need.  I have a business/residential phone and clients sometimes cannot get through.

I get at least 3 calls a day from this 800 number. Please stop calling.

Thanks for the information.   We were getting calls everyday.   Interestingly enough when I called the lady told me I was the first person to call them about this.   As such, she is submitting the request to Corporate to put us on the do not call list but then asked me for my email!!!!  I said "No thanks."

You people are the jerks. You call at the most idiotic times of the day and just seem to call when people are sleeping. Some people work overnight, ya know. Luckily my phone service has a nice FU list that I can place any number in. If you call and I answer and you don't say anything, I assume its a harrassing phone call and also forward the information to the local police dept.

They have called on an almost daily basis, sometimes even twice in one day. They had never left a message. Unbelievable.

There's a DNC for a reason, smart guy.

You know... we have to make sure that your information is correct so we can CORRECTLY TAKE YOU OFF THE CALLING LIST.

So, I hope the rep you were talking to didn't take you off the calling list. I hope they just said, eh, screw it, let's call some more.

They keep calling me - twice a day!  No messages are left on the machine (I screen my calls, too).
I did subscribe but due to financial issues couldn't afford to subscribe anymore.  I opted out of all communications with them.  If I want to resubscribe or have communication, I will call you.  I hate solicitation calls.

I opted out on all communication from them over a month ago.
They are still calling... and calling... and calling.
Are these people so hard up for business that they have to continually call and harass people?

I keep getting phone calls from this number, but when you answer they hang up.  So I do not know who it is or why they keep calling because when you answer, they hang up.

Thanks for the link to Highlights, Jay. I don't mind email from them, but I don't need phone calls from them or anybody soliciting my business or donations. I checked the boxes for "no phone calls" and for "no 3rd party messages," but I subscribed to their newsletters. My kids will enjoy the hidden picture stuff.
