I see from one of the posts that you want their fax number.  It is 888-232-3985
If this is a toll-free number, why don't we all send TONS of faxes to them with all sorts of nonsense, or even better, forward all the advertising faxes you receive to them.  Bombard them with junk faxes - it will serve them right.

This is such a scam.  If you get a call from these people blog it and lets get rid of such fraudulant practices.  These phonies try to make peple think their domain is expiring or that you are using someone else's name.  It comes on a very official looking fax quoting U.S. lega code.  I have reported to my fax provider that it is garbage.  If you have a BLOG - put the word out.  If you call the number above, you get a very "official" phone menu with the only real option being "1" to get you to probably their sales office.  They are really trying to sell you your domain name with the extension of .US  Don't fall for it!

I kept receiving calls and now recieved a fax with the same information.  I still have 10 years left on my domain name and this one ends in .us not .com.  I agree wish we could get rid of the scams.

Received a fax from Domain Support Service at 9:10 this morning (5/29) stating that the reply deadline was tomorrow(5/30). The notice said the ".us" version of our domain name "has now become available for registration." If we did not notify them of our intent to license it, then it could be "assigned to any other applicant." Four years ago, we received the same notice from a place called the Domain Update Center with an address in New York. I ignored the one four years ago. This time, I called the company that registered our ".com" domain name, and found out that we could register the ".us" version for less than half of what Domain Support Service quoted me. I don't recommend using Domain Support Service. These official-looking faxes with such short deadlines appear to be a scare tactic to induce people to sign up for a service at inflated rates.

Phising fax from Domain Support Service. Domain Support Service is a response
center for the notification processor.

Was for a domain using .us similar to one we own.

A scam.

Got fax on march 10 saying that the .us version of my domain is now available and that I had until March 11 to notify them of my intent to register the .us  version of addresses I own.

A deadline of at maximum 2 days seemed a bit rushed, to say the least. What did strike me is that while there was no URL on the notification fax, the recorded message (they close at 6 pm EST) gave a web site and an e-mail address to send a "detailed message."

If in fact the most dire hypotheses of other contributers to this comment sheet prove true, it's possible the goal of the fax sender is to elicit information. With roughly three hours left until my right of first refusal expires, I'm going online to see if I can register this domain where my other domains are registered

I keep getting unsolicited faxes from these people. I argued with the validity of this behavior with some jerk who answered their 1-800-253-6859 phone number.

I told them I would sue them for $500 per junk fax, which is perfectly legal for me to do. Someone forgot the FCC rules regarding junk faxes, and their intent to confuse the recipients of their faxes is quite obvious.

I looked up the address that they had on their fax and the info I received was

Address 3537 NW 82nd Ave, Doral, 33122
Nearest intersection 33rd St Nw & 82nd Ave Nw
Tel (305) 463-8665

I called this number and someone picked up and then hung up the phone. I do not know if this is a good address for this scammer, but I would like to find out.

Got the same fax.  It is a rip-off organization from, big surprise here, Florida.

I fight back with these jerks.  I program my computer to send the fax BACK to their voice line...  500 times.  Try it, I am sure that it annoys the hell out of them and clogs their phone lines.  800-253-6859

Received a fax from "Domain Support Services" saying that my domain was about to expire.  At the bottom, there was a number to call (1-800-253-6859) to let them know you'd received the fax in error.  Called the number, told them what happened (that I received the fax, but do not have that domain name), they said they would remove my fax number from the account and to please disregard the notice.

Same as above, received a Fax claiming that my domain was about to expire. I still have years before it expires. It's a big scam. If someone in Florida receives this contact the State Fraud Dept. Since I'm outside of the state it's hard for me to follow it.

Received a fax of a very official looking document titled "Urgent Notice of Domain Extension." We have a domain name that is similar (instead of .com which the company owns, we were informed that our site with a .us is "about to expire").

Constant faxes. they are a pain in the A**. They block their number & name, on the caller ID but it does show up on the printed page. They come across as an official domain name. The give away is .us.
constant faxes wasting time, money & ink. restricting calls doesn't work!
Can't some  government agency stop them and others who solicit through faxes with no telephone number or names.

I had the same problem. They kept calling me and then faxed me. I made sure to put my number on a do not call list and then complained to the Washington State GA's office, which is really easy to do with their online forms.

Same deal here!  I was initially contacted about two weeks ago by a woman who just haaad to have my fax #.  I told her to send any info to my email address of record, yada yada yada...
I have now been called in excess of 15!!! times in less than a week by their fax machine.  Since my fax # is also my home # it gets really annoying to pick up the phone and get that loud fax tone in your ear.
BTW, I rarely get faxes and those that do send them to me know to call first so I can set my machine to receive, so I know it is DSS.
So far this morning they have called at 8:42, 8:49 and 8:56. Yesterday it was 9:10, 9:16 and 9:22.  Someone make it stop!!!!

Make sure your numbers are registered on the national do not call registry from the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov). You will have to be on the list 31 days prior to be able to log a legitimate complaint against a company. Note that the FTC only puts your information into a secure database of prosecutors and other legal entities to use for legal action, they do not go after individual companies and complaints.
Check with your state's attorney general to see if you can file a local complaint, that is usually  more helpful. Since I am a California resident the 2003 TCPA act entitles me to $2000 in small claims for each fax. If your complaint is as bad as mine (5 faxes in 2 days), it can add up. California residents can go to http://ag.ca.gov/contact/complaint_form.php?cmplt=CL

they will send an official letter to the company that is much more intimidating than someone on their phone list.

I received 5 faxes in 2 days from this scammer. Note that if you live in California, fromthe TCPA act, you are entitled to $2000 from each fax they send. You can also file a complaint with the FTC and California Attorney General's office and they will send an official letter if you can get an address. http://ag.ca.gov/consumers/general/unsolicited_faxes10.php  Other state's attorney generals may offer the same service.

I also got a fax from this number with Urgent notice of domain extension for a .us domain. Same florida address. A man with a accent called about few weeks ago and said he was from icann and something about my domain (but mine was .com, not .us). I said why not sent the info to my email on file. He was like they are upgrading their system and have to do this immediately and wanted a fax number. He said they can't do it by email because of the system upgrade. I even told him I didn't trust that he was from where he said he was. Now I get this fax weeks later although he said it was urgent when he called.

And another thing... despite my unwillingness to waste time, I did try looking up the legalese referred to in the faxed doc. and it doesn't seem to be even related to the title it purports to refer to:
