I'm learning real quick not to answer calls from 800 numbers. I called AT&T and asked many questions about call blocking. They sent me a detailed "how to" email. I still get calls from a Wells Fargo 800 number after keying in the instructions on blocking the call. The voice box says "incorrect number entered". Now that I have established that is a lie, and that AT&T cannot explain why I cannot block THIS particular number in question (either), I have determined:

a) if you don't use your answering machine, they are testing the line to see if anyone is there
b) AT&T will do nothing for you

It is indeed AT&T calling to collect for your phone service. $60.00 a month for a service that I rarely, if ever use. I will be saying adios to my landline very soon. No more AT&T!!!! Hip, hip, hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooray!

I doubt that this is truly AT&T they typically send snail mail. Plus one of the reports states that Mr Santana was the supervisor well we had an issue with a zombie collection agency and there was a Mr. Santana that kept calling and asking for a person with a similar name that was not me. After a couple of years they finally stopped after countless reports to https://www.donotcall.gov.

All cell phone/landline companies are the same.  Verizon is even worse, IMO.  They used to be great up until 2-3 years ago.  They probably all get their training in Chicago, California or New York.  Nuf said.

Phone block them!  If you have the number, you can block them.  If you have a cell phone, have all your calls forwarded from your landline, which has blocking and caller ID unblocking.  It's what I do. :-)

When your contract runs out, change to pre-paid plan.  Tell them you don't want to be tied to their service if they fail to perform.  If enough of us do that, their service will have to improve.  Free phones are NOT free anyway.  They come with a very expensive STRING attached.

I highly doubt it's A T & T or anyrhing related to them! I schedule my bills a few months ahead of time and they are all paid up by now ... including for January!

Stop the calls

If this is A T & T Collections they really screwed up first, I schedule my payments for landline and cell phones at least a month in advance and second, last I looked at each statement I had credits ... I still went ahead and paid!

Sad thing about this whole mess is that back when it was Ma Bell (before the break up) they had gotten too big and were also screwing up one way or another so Ma Bell wound being broken up into the "baby bells", one of those was Southwest Bell later becoming SBC who later went around buying up all the baby bells; A T & T Wireless was once known as Cingular ... until A T & T was supposedly 'merged' with SBC and became 'the new A T & T'.

Now it seems they are once again to big and once again screwing up from reading all these posts here.
In short, each bill (landline and cell) has already paid in full ... yet, like all of you, still called and harassed me with this number! When businesses get too big .... they end up doing stupid things and treat their customers like cr*p!!!

This is an outside company that AT&T hires to harrass people. 99.9% of people pay their bills when they have the money to do so.Yet they treat everyone as if they are that tiny fraction that just don't pay because they don't want to. Any company that can buy out other companies is not even remotely close to being so bad off financially that they feel the need to harrass it's customers. They even have the nerve to disable your "services" and yet continue to charge you  for them.  People hate them for very legitiment reasons.

I just got a call from this number. I always pay both my AT&T landline and cell-phone bills when I receive them - in fact just paid them online this morning...

So there's no ~legitimate~ reason for them to be calling me...

Of course, not recognizing the number, I didn't answer the phone...

It's just purely speculative on my part, but I'm thinking these calls may have some other purpose???

It just doesn't make sense that AT&T would be calling customers with a robo type call as this has been decsribed as being if they're current on their bills...

AT&T looking for money. Multiple phone calls throughout the day, starting at 8 am, latest call so far 6 pm, pacific time.

I've received calls from this number (800-300-5099) many times a day. Even though I've called ATT regarding a dispute, and was promised these silent number calls would stop. I was also promised a call back from a manager within 24 hrs, but it has been 4 days, and no call has come through from the manager. Maybe I misunderstood, and they meant to say 24 days! At least they make me feel wanted, since I still get calls from this 800 number. Is this a job for the FCC?

They are so slow on the uptake...paid them already and they have called 4 times just today...and it's only 2 PM!  I refuse to answer calls that are not ID'd...

ATT was paid. Insult to old folks like me, because it's a robot's world. They don't tell you who they represent, patronize the person who answered the phone, while the voice, tells the person to find the person that the robot is calling for, so I didn't wait to hear the rest. I'm old enough to remember the voice of another, human being, at the other end of the line.  I also, have a voice disorder, that would be unintelligible to the robot!

That's not why they don't leave messages, they don't leave messages because they know that you are not going to call them back and secondly you're gonna take note of the number and never answer. AT&T couldn't care less about embarrassing you.  They are crooks, why are you advocating for AT&T.  They make false promises, don't deliver on customer service and they should wait at least 2 weeks before they start harassing someone for $25.  I'm not saying that people should stop paying their bills but if you're a little late they should quit acting like crackheads and give people some time, especially if they have been siphoning money from you for over 15 yrs.  If they put the kind of money into their technology and infrastructure that they put into commercials, maybe there wouldn't be so many complaints.

After reading these posts I see it's a call from AT&T, my caller id stated "out of the area". They called and left a message for me with my full name and stated my phone number, asked the person answering to pick options ( the "person answering" was my voicemail machine...) The thing I don't understand is that my very slightly overdue bill was already paid and even cleared from my bank several days before they called. I hate being harassed for no reason, even with a voicemail.

So if this is AT&T why do they use a TOLL FREE CALL (caller id) and NEVER leaves a message or answers these calls? current with them and these calls keep coming in for a few months.
