The 800-331-5963 is from Oppenheimer for the proxy vote and you haven't returned the proxy form. You get the call if it's in the funds you own.

Thank you for this post.  In this day and age we get so paranoid that even legitimate calls are questioned. I figured it was legitimate because how would they know our investments, but it's good to get this reassurance.

That # belongs to a company called AST funds Solutions based in lyndhurst, NJ. It's a proxy solicitation company. Oppenheimer funds hired this company to contact all their shareholders and offer them the convinence of voting their proxies via telephone for Oppenheimer upcoming shareholders meeting, it's a legit company. The number is 800-331-5963.  My friend works there that's how I know :)

Caller ID showed "private number". Requested to talk to a relative. When I offered to take a message, he said he was calling in regard to a current Oppenheimer account. I asked if he had a number this relative could call back, and he left this number.

Called, I answered, no one on line. Now blocked.

"YOU ARE A TELEMARKETER, AND I DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH ANY COMPANY THAT USES TELEMARKETING AS A FORM OF ADVERTISING" (stolen from a comment on this web site -- I love it).  And do not answer name unavailable ever as calls are now starting to say that often.  Another comment from this web site says: When you press the number to have your number removed, all you do is confirm that your number is a working one.  Now I either block the numbers or I don't answer the phone at all.  Another comment was:  They sold your known active number to another scammer!!!  That is what they do when you call them back to opt out.  SO DON?T HAVE YOUR NUMBER REMOVED!

Let me explain my idea of ROBO CALLS. Each area code has 9,999,999 numbers fyi (7 digits). The program starts calling every number that it can in succession.  So they don't need to buy or obtain lists from anyone.  I am going to copy and paste and post this info for each number that calls me for this web site (9,999,98 numbers more to copy and paste to)

NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS AND LAZY COLLECTION AGENCIES who call everyone with the same name instead of looking up the right one and all we can do is block them or use call forward selective..  DNC does not work when they are robo dialing all possible random numbers. The authorities can not or will not help either.

So, just block them, DON'T ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS, and continue using this great site for information to be in control of your own home and cell phone calls.  If it turns out that you did not answer a call from someone you know (number not on this site), just call them back.  No problem.  It?s a lot of work that I do (checking the number on this web site, blocking the caller, and making my own excel spreadsheet of numbers) but at least I FEEL like I have a little control of the situation. Maybe I'm delusional.

Now listen, when these dick wads call you, they are entering your home. You have the right to take advantage of their intrusion by saying anything you want to them. Yes that's right anything. Depending on how I feel that day I tell them I am going to murder their kids, kill their dog and eat it, rape thier wife, or even possibly BF their husband. Asking for the occasional BJ never hurt either. Remember this is a freebe. You can say what you want. It's a great release of tension and an oportunity to speak to people in a way you could never do in real life.

Try it once and you will be hooked. Great fun.

Repeated calls.  Message plays music.

I received a call from this number around 8:45pm last night and 5:14pm today (8-17-2012).  Did not answer.  Was anticipating a call from somebody I know instead of these junk calls from the same number.

The "No Call List" laws, and I'm on the state of WI and federal lists, are the most unenforced and disrespected laws.  Also, responsible use of telephone equipment seems to be a custom that became obsolete in the late 20th century.

I got a call from this number.  Didn't answer, but called it back.  When someone answered, he answered with "Oppenheimer proxy information line".

I'm getting too many calls from this # for the past 10 days.  No message(s) left for me.
Must be an auto-dialer.
Since I do not recognize the number, future calls will be ignored.
DO NOT answer the call as by doing so will validate your phone number which will be 'sold' to the next auto-dailer operation.

Who ever this is called 4 times in the past 3 days.  The phone rings 4 or 5 times and they hang up. Probably automated but I wish they would quit.  I am on the DO NOT CALL list but it doesn't seem to matter to them.

first call from this possible scammer.. my call id read: 800 Service.  Yeah right.  No message left.  there future calls will go unanswered

Said they were "an investment company". Massacred my mother's first name (Shashaleyena instead of Shoshana) and refused to give me any information unless I put her on the phone. They were nice enough to leave this callback number.

called my home in the evening saying they were an investment co.  wanting to talk to my sister in law.

I got a call from this number. The caller ID says "201 Unknown number"  Sometimes it says "1201 Unknown number".
