Our company also got one from their fax # 866 788-5202).  It would be great if it were for-real, and I googled it in to see if it was legitimate.  No reviews; no information.  My guess is that it's just one more scam and one more way to accumulate numbers to sell to marketers and flood us with more spam.  Does anyone know if the site is real, or a hoax?  If so, please comment.

Got the same fax from 1(866) 788-5202.  My opinion?  Definitely a scam.  Do not do anything with this number.  Throw the ad away, shred it, or better yet, use it for scrap paper.

If these guys aren't collecting fax numbers, then they're checking to see whether yours is still legitimate.  If you do nothing, they'll probably assume that your fax number is no good anymore and might even stop faxing you.

We just received the same fax yesterday evening from 866-788-5202.  I did the same thing by googling the name and found this website.  I guess it really is a scam.  That's a shame, since it would be a really nice service.

we received a fax from "The National Number Removal Assistance Association" saying we can fax them any unwanted faxes we receive and they will have our fax number permanently removed from fax lists. It says the NNRAA has nothing to sell or offer for sale nor any goods or services commercially available. At the bottom of the fax it says "the NNRAA is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to assist recipients of unsolicited facsimile advertisements with the removal of their facsimile numbers from the senders' internal databases."

What I like to do is save the faxes and when I get a fax from someone with an 800 fax number I send the all the faxes I gather with a note saying I'm not interested in your products, but perhasps you can use one of these other offers.

Received a fax from NNRAA claiming to be a "nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to assist recipients of unsolicited facsimile advertisements..."  I believe they've changed their number (since the last comments here) to 866-788-5202.  I've googled and found that on some instances, people/businesses begin receiving MORE unsolicited faxes after faxing NNRAA their unsolicted facsimiles with their own fax numbers included (as specified by NNRAA's fax).  I've filed a report through the FCC online, others might consider doing the same, although they're not advertising or marketing and goods or products so I'm not sure what the FCC could do about it.

Received this fax today, also like everyone posted here researching this.
while looking through the blogs saw one that is pretty interesting from Jim M 10 Feb 2009. looks like he's had some experience with faxes and explained the reason behind this one. So I need not research anymore and i might just send a fax to them removing us from their list along with a statement of unauthorized faxes. They already have our fax number anyway!

Get you faxes set up to dump into your computer, most newer machines have that feature.  Review them on the screen and delete, no paper waste.

I received the same fax today.  The phone number on my page is (866) 788-5202.  I dialed it thinking I'd reach a real person to provide my fax number to, but it's a fax number.  I, too, am skeptical.

I have started to call the voice numbers to complain -- often and repeatedly. But to maintain privacy and stick them with the charges, I call from a pay phone (there's still a few around). Now they get to pay about $1 for each one of my complaints. Not so cheap for them now . . .

When you fax them junk faxes they win - they now know your fax number. I do the same thing with junk emails - making sure that each has a huge attachment.
The fcc does not care about faxes and, as someone said, faxes are not covered by the 'do not call' laws.

I just got the fax too. My first thought was it's a scam to collect fax numbers. My second thought was but they already have my fax number so how do they benefit. Then I think I figured it out... it works one of two ways, either I'm to get real excited about it and pass it on to others that have fax machines so the "fax spamer" can sell that number too, or (I think this is the big hit) - Whomever sent this out is collecting a list of organizations that send unsolicited faxes. They will then apporach these organizations to sell them  outgoing fax service. (Actually I think this is a clever, but unethical, way of generating a prospecting list for junk fax services.)

The response number on my fax is (866)788-5202

It is against the Telephone Consumer Protection Act to send an unsolicited FAX to anyone. You may wish to report companies sending unsolicited FAXes to the Federal Communications Commission.

I received a fax from the NNRAA.  But I think I have figured it out.
First, they are a "non-profit" organization.  This exempts them from the federal law which prohibits one party from faxing another without the recipients consent.  Non-profits were exepted, I believe, because the law did not want to hurt charitable organizations who might want to solicit by fax.
Second, the law states that you can sue the sender of an unauthorized fax for $500 per page.  And if you can prove that the sender sent the fax to you intentionally, you can sue for treble damages - $1500 per page.  So, for example, if the local Delicatessen faxed you a menu 10 times, and assuming you never gave them permission to fax you, you can sue them for $5,000.  If you can show that they faxed you intentionally (as opposed to faxing you by mistake), you can sue them for $15,000.
Third, By forwarding your unwanted faxes to the NNRAA, you are providing them with the evidence to bring suit on your behalf against the faxers. The NNRAA may, in fact, actually do something to help stop the faxing.  But that is secondary to their real purpose...which is to drum up business for law suits.   Someone's earlier post mentioned that a google search of the phone number pulled up a law firm.  So the NNRAA is a non-profit arm of a profit making lawyer.  At some point they would probably ask you to sign a power-of-attorney which would allow them to sue the faxers on your behalf.
Mind you, my above theory is only speculation.  But it is based on the fact that I was sued by a Florida attorney for having sent 4 faxes to a prospective customer in Florida before I was aware of the law against sending unauthorized faxes.

NONE of these alleged 'businesses' are needed to do something you can do for free and that's the DNC list. These cretins just want to compile numbers to sell. Some are even telescammers themselves.

I also received this same NNRAA fax message with the number of 866-788-5202.  Thought it was a scam, went to check it out and ended up here like the rest of you lovely people.  I'm convinced its just another spoof to collect fax numbers.  One thing I did a couple years ago to reduce junk faxes is to contact my phone company and have them restrict my fax line to not accept any calls without caller ID.  Now I only get one to three junk faxes per week and they are from Canada.  Since US junk fax laws can not be enforced in Canada, they don't care and include their origination phone number.  Unidentified US lines are automatically blocked.  Whoopee.

I just checked on the National Trade Commission site.  Under the Question & Answers (#14)it says that "business-to-business ca;;s * faxes are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry." Why would a "private" company take on this task other than to gather more fax numbers!

I just received the same FAX.  The number to fax the unwanted faxes is 866-788-5202.  I was also just checking to see if this is legit.  I hope it is because we've been receiving at least 9 spam faxes per day.  It's a lot unnecessary waste of paper!

I agree wholeheartedly - you HAVE to check out things these days and not take it at face value.  I like your antics...I too was thinking about how to get back at them without the satisfaction of giving them my fax in the process.  Creative minds at work to give these scammers some of their own medicine.

I just got one myself.  It is pathetic when an organization does exactly what it is trying to ban.  LOL.  My solution to junk faxes is to totally screw up their phone lines by faxing thyem 30 pages (max for my fax machine) of totally black pages.  Or if it is a phone number either putting my fax machine on automatic redial.  Also, if it is a cruse line or something, call them and talk to them.  Give them a fake name and credit card.  Just waste their time and have some fun with them.  Let me know what you think.   email me gdarbillz@yahoo.com  PS, I am not just trying to collect email address'. LOL
