thank you for your post.  I have received multiple mailings from this company.  American Automotive Service Solutions attempts to deceive and intimidate the most vulnerable recipients - the elderly and the young.  I have complained to the company and asked to be taken off the mailing list to no avail.  Do not call the listed 800 number.  Instead, file a complaint with the FTC as I have done and your state's Attorney General's office.  I agree that this is a criminal scam and must be stopped.

I've called these people to tell them to take my name off their mailing list ... like totally rude they were. My vehicle already has a lifetime warranty which we bought at the time of purchase thru our dealership ...don't need their scamming final notices. What a joke ... these so called companies should not be able to send out mail unless they have a return address on them.

06/03/2014 - Just received my "FINAL NOTICE" from 800-381-3312. Did not feel right about the letter. Typed in the number and read all notes under 800Notes. Thanks to everyone for comments. Was not going to "take the offer". If we need extension then we would either go through our dealer or Honda. We would shop for best deal possible. Have had many cars since 1965 and has seen many notes like this one. I too just wanted to voice my opinion. Letter is going to SHRED pile. (JRC3)

This is the 4th letter from these crooks. I wish I could find their address so I can reply and tell them that I am very happy to see it is the FINAL NOTICE, so they will stop sending them.
The last I received was for a 2002 Lexus RX300 that we do not have since 2005. We are with our 5th Lexus and we never had a problem with them. Why should we buy an extension warranty? I hope that no one signs for that.

Research?  OK!  The letters return says " Motor Vehicle Services Nissan"  implying it came from the manufacturer of my car.  Is this not deception?  As for research, I Google'd your telephone number and came up with this site.  And I am glad I did.. You are a scam in my mind!

I concur with the notes here. Total Fraud. As a former AND current investigator, this is just another scam. NO return addresses, no specific details.  They are usually off on data they provide. They have also sent us this FINAL NOTICE for a car that we sold over 8 years ago.

Contact Atty General Office in your state. I am in florida, and to the best of my knowledge that license #W076246 is not accurate.  Thus, they are illegal in the state of Florida at least.  But try to catch them eh?

I received one of these letters by mail.  It's not real.  I haven't even owned my vehicle for a year yet and purchased an extended warranty at the time of sale.  It is NOT expired or expiring soon like this junk mail says and in fact is at the shop right now all covered under warranty including the 2014 rental I am driving today.

FIRST and foremost, DO NOT CALL THE NUMBERS on this notice! "MOTOR VEHICLE SERVICES" is actually a company by the name of American Automotive Service Solutions. Their address: 933 Main Plaza Dr Wentzville Missouri 63385. Please be aware there might be other companies that use this same letter/tactic. The phone number on my letter was for American Automotive Service Solutions.

I am writing this blog to warn others (especially young people and Senior Citizens) about an unscrupulous company who call themselves "MOTOR VEHICLE SERVICES" that uses deceptive ploys to trick people into calling them so they can sell you an auto services contract. They use a form that extremely close to the form used by your State Department of Motor Vehicles.

The letter claims your "Manufacturers' Warranty or extended service contract is expiring" and that you need to call them to extend your coverage. This is a criminal scam and should be reported immediately to your state Attorney General's office as well as to the Federal Trade Commission at: 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).  Or file a complaint online: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

For more information regarding auto services contract, please visit this link: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0054-aut ... -and-warranties.
For more information regarding auto services contract, please visit this link: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0054-aut ... -and-warranties. Here's a relevant excerpt from that article:
"Be skeptical of mail and phone calls warning that the warranty on your car is about to expire. The companies behind the letters and calls may give the impression they represent your car dealer or manufacturer. With phrases like Motor Vehicle Notification, Final Warranty Notice or Notice of Interruption, they are trying to make the offer seem urgent ? and to get you to call a toll-free number for more information. Investigate before you buy.
More than likely, these pitches are from unrelated businesses that want to sell you extended warranties ? more accurately known as service contracts ? that often sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars. If you respond to a call from a business pitching so-called extended warranties, you?re likely to hear high-pressure sales tactics, as well as demands for personal financial information and a down payment, before you get any details about the service contract. And if you buy a service contract, you may find that the company behind it won?t be in business long enough to fulfill its commitments."
If you receive a mailer like mine, take the original to your local post office and file a written complaint with the Postmaster. Keep copies and forward some to your AG and the FTC. All complaints should be in writing.

MIne says "Motor Vehicle Services--Dodge."  And I am checking to see if the offer is bogus, too. As to the Florida License No. it could be a business license, which may not be accessible through common search engines, so that doesn't prove the company is bogus. I would just like some information about the business. Chris, do I just use the business name "Motor Vehicle Services" to check with BBB? And how do I know which MVS is the right one, if other businesses have the same name? I assume I would check BBB in Florida, correct?

These guys keep sending us an offer for an extended warranty on our truck posing to be the 'manufacturer' but falling just short of stating that they are ' Dodge' or 'Chrysler' corp. although on the front of the mailer it did say 'motor vehicle services' and below that it said 'DODGE'.  I feel like that is as close to telling a lie as you can get..what do you think?  Also, this mailer says nothing anout what is or isn't covered. It gives no specifics. All it says is type of coverage pending request..no amount of money that it costs.. if you are going to try to deal with these people I would like to recommend to you to call them and INSIST that before you give them any financial info find out the name of the company., make them send you a specific quote (exact price for exact coverage -both time limit and milage) and what do they cover and what don't they cover. The last thing you need to do before you give yhem even 1 penny is call the better business bureau and check them out. If they won't agree to any of that the run - they aren't the company for you any way!        Good Luck!

How can we check with the BBB if we cannot offer them any information about the "company" we are investigating???????  This is a "form" letter, you just put "Ford" for Ford owners, Nissan for Nissan owners, etc..

You state on bottom, why we have been selected for this "Offer" and our selection is NOT based on our warranty expiration, but on consumer/credit reports. Why would we be subject to "final acceptance" to meet YOUR eligibility requirements to purchase a warranty?  When I purchase tires or other auto parts, there is no "eligibility", you either buy them or you dont, amount of available credit is what you go on and how much you can scam our cards for.

If you stop scamming people, I guarantee you will be able to sleep at night without the "ambien", a clean conscience is a well rested conscience!!!!!!!

If you look on the "envelope", there is no return address, our addresses are printed as if a mailing list was used, just spitting them out. Also, inside gives a Florida license number, but the postage is paid from Sacramento, CA (mailed from there as well).

There are just too many red flags to even take this serious, including any further notices we receive. I have noticed that companies claiming to "get you lower interest rates, come via post in the same format. I am so happy I checked the phone number on the mailing, as now I know I can find info from scam mail here as well as the copious phone calls. Thank you all for your time and information.

Well, I think we all get the idea of what the offer is supposed to be, but as it gives no other info except a phone number, which then they request you buy warranty over the phone giving your credit card info, this is not a legit offer, they are a third party scam.

Great questions, Thank you.

I am thinking that they are reviewing our credit reports, this info would tell them what type of vehicle we own and how long we have had ownership, thereby calculating that our warranties are expiring soon. It also tells how much credit available, if you look at bottom of the statement it reveals how info was collected, via consumer reports or "other data".

They have no souls, charging a large sum of money using false pretenses. I am going to send a copy of my offer to Att. Gen., as well as BBB, maybe they canput them out for a while.

I would call Chase ASAP and explain the situation and have them stop or give you back credit, it is indeed a scam. My letter came from "Ford", but as stated in another post, there is no actual real "name" of the company nor is there an address, this is a total red flag for the markings of a scam. Chase will be able to access the info as I am sure they had to give name and address for payment. You can always buy your extended warantee from your car manufactorer and negotiate the price, you do not have to use car manufactorer either, you can shop around just ensure they can do the repairs on your vehicle and get it in writing, read all fine print-twice!

Good luck.

Also got the exact same junk mailer from "Motor Vehicle Services".  No address given.  Also has the same FL license #w076246, whatever that means.  Has a bunch of meaningless mumbo  jumbo about interest rates, blah blah, blah.  Says Manufacturer Toyota.  As I have owned 5 Toyotas over the last 25 years, shows how much they know (nothing) about the names they send these junk mailers to.  These people are just fishing for someone dumb enough to buy one of their worthless "warranties".  They don't even have the address listed which is a sure sign of a scam.  Don't waste your money buying a worthless warranty from a company that has to send out junk mail to get customers.  Be a smart consumer, check with the Better Business Bureau, buy from a local and reputable company.  Give these worthless mailers to your shredder.

I just received a letter in the mail as others have disclosed. It states "EXTREMELY URGENT AND TIME SENSITIVE" and "FINAL NOTICE". First of all, I'm in a 36 month lease with VW and my lease isn't up until the beginning of February 2014. I have a manufacturer's warranty on my vehicle for the duration of my lease. It is only June 2013 and it states I must respond by 06/28/13 or my factory warranty is going to expire. The letter doesn't even mention my vehicle so I decided to research the 1-800 number. If this really came from a legitimate company honestly trying to ensure my car was still protected, there would be more information on the letter (i.e. my specific vehicle information, terms of my lease, etc.). I'm glad I found others posting the same concern. I now know this is a scam trying to get money from me. Beware!

I can not say that this is or is not a scam. I received a few of these "Final Notice" letters too.

Just to let you know a little secret about purchasing an Extended Service Contract for your New Car.

Most Dealer F&I (Finance & Insurance) will always try to sell you these as well as GAP, Paint Sealant, Etc... i.e.: "Extra Cheese"

These contracts are almost always over inflated in price at the dealerships and often they will steer you towards a third party such as Fidelity or others before offering you the actual Car manufacturers Service Contract. Why? They receive a much bigger commission (Spiff) on these.

I always try to go with the actual Car manufacturers Contracts because they are less likely to pick apart your claim in order to deny it. Also instead of purchasing it from the same dealer I search online and get a much better deal than the local dealer.

For instance: The Mopar "Maximum Care Zero Deductible" for a 6/85K mile warranty would cost me between $2700 - $3100 at the dealership. I did internet searches and found that an out of state authorized dealership offered me the Exact Same Warranty for $1800... Yep The local dealership argued that it would be no good in Florida since the Chrysler-Dodge -Jeep- RAM Dealership that I purchased it from was in Massachusetts .... WRONG!!!  Then the Local Dealership argued that because of Florida State Law That They Could Not Negotiate Price on Service Contracts. VERY WRONG and Illegal to Say That:

Thanks to Gov Rick Scott and AG Pam Bondi!

Motor Vehicle Service Agreement - Forms & Rate Issues:

As a result of SB 2176, effective 06/01/2010, the requirement that forms and rates for motor vehicle service agreements (also referred to as an auto extended warranty).be filed and approved by the Office of Insurance Regulation has been lifted
.
By July 1, 2011, each service agreement sold in this state must be accompanied by a written disclosure to the consumer that "The rate charged for the service agreement is not subject to regulation by the OIR".

A service agreement company may comply with this requirement by including such disclosure in its service agreement form or in a separate written notice provided to the consumer at the time of sale

The OIR may order a service agreement company to stop using a form that:

1. Is in violation of or does not comply with the Florida Insurance Code or an Administrative Rule.

2. Contains any inconsistent, ambiguous, or misleading clauses, or exceptions and conditions which deceptively affect the risk purported to be assumed in the general coverage of the service agreement.

3. Has any title, heading, or other indication of its provisions which is misleading.

4. Is printed or otherwise reproduced in such manner as to render any material provision of the form substantially illegible.

5. Contains any provision which is unfair or inequitable or which encourages misrepresentation.

6. Contains any provision which makes it difficult to determine the actual insurer or service agreement company issuing the form.

7. Contains any provision for reducing claim payments due to depreciation of parts, except for marine engines.

Hope this helps save you money and allows you to purchase true peace of mind in you second most expensive investment outside of a house!
