I have received calls from this number everyday, except weekends, for the last 6 weeks. I either would  hear music or nothing.. Now I just click them off but still get the calls. So far this month I have received 21 calls from several numbers.

I keep getting calls from this number on my cell phone, but never answered them.  Finally, I called the number back on my landline and entered my cell phone number as a "wrong number" -- an option they gave on the phone message.  The message said it would take 24 hours until the number was removed from their system, so I hope that's finished.  I am tired of getting mysterious calls from numbers I don't recognize.

Debt Collector
Our office just got a call for a dead beat who has not been around in over 15 years. Here is what you are dealing with: Debt is bought and sold by companies.

Let's say company A bought the outstanding debt for John Doe from a bank. Company A has all the information the bank got when making that loan. Company A tried to collect and calls the phone number John Doe left on the contract. John Doe didn't pay that bill either so he lost the phone. Now YOU have it. Company A calls you and you ask them not to call again and to remove your number from the file. However, they won't call you again but your number stays on the file as the information must be intact for the debt to be sold again.

Company A can't collect so they sell it to Company B in a credit bundle. Now you will get a call from Company B since it is still your phone number on the original file.

Every phone I have ever had used to belong to a dead beat. Sometimes I track down the dead beat and give them that information. but, if you tell a collection agency that person is not there and to stop calling they have to stop. If they don't you can turn them in to the FCC. Since they are a real company they will get fined so most stop. You won't get called until the next time the debt is sold.

I understand your frustration with all the calls for the long gone residence, but why punish them for what others are doing.  It's not the family's fault that these idiots keep calling you, especially if you have already told them that the people no longer live there.

Let me put it this way - What happened to the number you had before you received this new one -  Would you want the person who now has your old number to post your personal information on the net just because someone mistakenly tries to reach you at that old number?

Life can be a pain in the butt, - but you gotta do unto others as you would have them do unto you, otherwise you'll always focus on the negativity of life instead of the blessings.  "count your blessings not your aggrevations"

Debt Collector
TO BILL COLLECTORS:

THE Pamela MClILLY(Cornelius, Jeffries) , Brandon McLilly, Landon McLilly family do not live in my home, never met them, don't know them, here is their home address: go bother them there.

723 NE 83rd St, Oklahoma City, Ok

tax records from Leonard O Sullivan tax website show they have owned that house since 2002, if i can just look up this stuff in 2 minutes on the internet, why can't you.

HOPE THIS FAMILY SEES THIS POST!!!

Ive had this number for a year and the phone calls for this family started 2 days after I got this phone #. The phone company wont guarantee a never before issued number if I change mine and if that isnt enough of a pain in the a**, to take the phone off my cable /internet/phone bill, it will cost $25.00 a month MORE to not have a phone in the house. I am going to post all their personal information online that I find.

If you are receiving autodialer calls to your residential phone, the first thing you need to do is to let them know that you do not consent to these calls and demand that they cease communications with you.

After you have done that, you may be able to pursue them for violations of the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act).  This is the same statute that is used to sue junk fax companies.  The statutory damage award is $500 for each call and $1,500 per call if they have violated the statute wilfully.

Also, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) requires that they honor written requests like this, and stop almost all communications.  If you send a letter like this, you should do so by certified mail, return receipt request, and keep a copy of the letter together with the return receipt.  If there is a violation of the FDCPA you can get up to $1,000 in statutory damages, plus actual damages including compensation for harassment, embarrassment and frustration.  If you are successful, the debt collector will have to pay your court costs and reasonable attorney?s fees.

Your state collection practices act may have additional prohibitions and remedies which are applicable to your situation.

I have posted sample letters on my web site?s law library.  http://www.sue4abuse.com/library.html

Your best option may be to have an attorney help get their attention or pursue claims under the either the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) or the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

Political Call
This company called our business 800 phone, did not leave a message and would not identify themselves except to say the name of the person answering the phone and ERC company. I looked up ERC on the web and it appears they are a collection agency possibly aligned with collecting for outstanding student loans.
