Mike Orlando is rude and threatens to use illegal tactics, but when you call him out on them he is like a deer in head lights.  If your debt is legit and you want to deal with it, DO NOT deal with him.  When he finally becomes rude, and believe me he will, he will personally insult you. Although he does not know you, he will pretend he knows all about you and your family and your neighbors.  Just contact CCS's main number, make an immediate complaint about him and request a new rep.  I recorded all his calls.  He is no longer allowed to contact me.  Good luck.

This crook's threat to call neighbors is more than a little illegal.  It's against federal law (and many states' laws) for a debt collector to harass a consumer, threaten to harass a consumer and to make false threats.  On those points of law, you or your son have ample grounds to file complaints with the proper authorities and to file suit in federal court under the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

According to reports on WhoCalled.us -- http://whocalled.us/lookup/8004190724 -- this number belongs to some scam operation called Credit Collection Services (CCS). Here's the address:

Credit Collection Services
Two Wells Avenue
Newton, MA 02459
617-965-2000

Anyone who has been illegally threatened or harassed by these crooks should do all the following:

1) File a complaint with your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom can be found at www.naag.org

2) File a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

3) Since this scam is based in Massachusetts, file a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General at http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=cagoterminal&L=3& ... laint&csid=Cago or call 617-727-8400

4) If these crooks continually call and harass you, file a complaint with your local police.

5) Send these crooks a letter via certified mail with a return receipt request informing them that they are to cease all attempts to contact you and that if they fail to do so that you will pursue sanctions in federal court.  If they contact you more than once after receiving your certified letter, then they are in violation of the FDCPA (again), and can be sued for damages.  (By the way, many consumer law professionals work on contingency, so don't be worried about any upfront expense that's usually associated with hiring an attorney.)

6) If legal in your state to do so, record their calls. (This often can result in a slam dunk judgment in court against the crooked debt collector.)

7) Review the following websites for more information about protecting yourself from outlaw debt collectors and, if need be, suing them:

Thank you so much for your advice!  It's very comforting to know that others have dealt with this guy before.  He really is a dirt-bag.

One option is informing him both verbally and in writing (via certified mail with a return receipt request) that he is to cease all communication with you.  If he contacts you more than once after receiving your letter, then he's in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  That same law gives you standing to sue the debt collector for damages. Many consumer law professionals work on contingency in such cases; for free attorney referrals, check out the website of the National Association of Consumer Advocates -- www.naca.net

I am currently having the same problem with this guy.  He's harassing me at work, claiming I owe his company (a collections agency) money for a credit card that has been closed for some time now.  He's also implying that I'll be taken to court about this.  I am not taking him seriously, as there are no grounds for such measures.  But I'm curious as to how you dealt with him.

I got a call from Mike Orlando who wanted to speak with my son, when I pushed him for who he was, he told me that if I didn't deliver the message to my son, he would start calling neighbots to go to his house and have them deliver the message, when I told him that I was Mike he called me a liar and became very threatening.  He then asked me if I knew what party would be "representing" him next week.
