Got a call from 800-407-2047. Caller ID said "Toll Free Number." Lady said it had come to her attention that we have a low usage of long distance calls on our AT&T bill and she can save us money on our telephone bill. I asked if she represented AT&T and she said she did not...that she was with Communications Services. I advised her that we do not have long distance calling billed on our AT&T telephone bill and requested she remove us from the calling list. She stated she would do so.

They hung up after 3 rings. I let my phone ring 4 times before answering it if they are still  there they are a customer more times than not.

This company called and told me they were my current credit card processing company and my credit card machine was out of compliance and I needed a new.  Then they put me in a new contract with their company and send out a new terminal.  Turns out my credit card machine was not out of compliance and they lied.  This business tactic is shady and I am currently in a lawsuit with them right now.  If they call you be aware that they are FRAUDULENT.

They are not even BBB accredited and have had almost 100 complaints in just one year.  Look at their RIPOFF REPORTS!!!  How are these guys in business?   ***DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE IF THEY CALL***

I finally picked up as I recognized the number from the last week or so. I say hello, she says can I speak to the person who is in charge of the century link account. I say that's me. She wants to know if I am interested in reducing my phone bill. I say, Isn't that sort of thing normally done through the mail? She hung up. Score one for me! I feel this is a phishing scam.

Just Googled Allsetech -  wrong spelling - actual spelling of name is Allsectech - I entered it wrong in my previous message.  Allsectech is a global communications company with locations around the world, including NJ.

Headquarted in the mid-east.

They were calling on behalf of a client company.  ???

There are 2 numbers attached to this. The "business office" number at 1 800 407-2047 and the number that came up on my caller ID as 1 201 520 4651 under the name of Allsetech.  201 area code is NJ.

Said they were calling on behalf of AT&T who was changing long distance providers and needed to have my permission to do so.  Since I could tell that the woman had the wrong name to my account, I followed through the process, even through the "script reading woman" who I was told several times would kick me back to the first person if I asked a question and did not just reply "yes" or "no" to the questions asked.  Even told me which questions needed a "no" answer and which needed a "yes."  Both women were hard to understand because of accents and because they talked so fast.

If AT&T is actually allowing outside companies to lie their way to providing service to its customers - they need to stop doing this or notify customers that such-and-such a company will be contacting them.

Got a call from this number today. Lots of background noise where I could hear people speaking with heavy accents. But the caller never said a word. Sounds like a call center in Pakistan.  :)

Yes it is a sales call from Communications Network Billing Inc.  FCC has already found them guilty of slamming phone services.  What they said they could do for me is charge me $6.99 per phone line instead of $20+ per line and then long distance would be $0.05 per minute.  Upon reviewing further it appears that it is $6.99 per phone line for long distance not the local use charge.  So in my case, I get long distance at $15 for 250 minutes.  So I would basically pay $13.98 per month and $0.05 per minute starting at minute 1, not at minute 250.  

Will admit never confirmed how the local calls would be applied.  Did not change to them.

I did not answer phone because these same idiots refuse to comply with the State & Federal Do Not Call List. I am on both lists and these idiot callers refuse to comply with the Do Not Call lists and keep calling regardless. Caller ID said they were "Toll Free Call" Duh! All incoming calls on land lines are toll free! Idiots!  I never answer calls if the Caller ID shows an invalid company name or someone I don't know.  I will only answer phone if it's a company I do business with or someone I know.

I don't want to tout one company's product over another, but my cordless phone recently died and I replaced it with a Panasonic Dect 6.0 phone. This phone has a call blocking feature where you just save the number on the caller ID to memory with the push of a few buttons and then hit "block" and voila! No more calls from that #.  And it is not that expensive. This or a similar product is worth getting. I think mine holds 100 numbers in memory. It is better than the "do not call list." I am also aware of call blocking products that don't do anything else, but they are expensive.
