Kim, while this may have "worked out" for you, I would be wary of this business shady sales techniques. I work in the merchant services industry and let me clue you into a few things:

1. You would never be called by your current provider to let you know your equipment is out of compliance. If they did need to notify you of something like this, it would be done via email or hard copy mail, never by phone.
2. Processors do rate increases. Some even do them annually. You have the right as a merchant to ask for a rate review to see if they can lower your rates. You should be asking this of your current processor annually. Most also have price match programs so if you are ever quoted lower rates by a competitor, most times, your current processor can match those rates to retain your business.
3. You are correct about the EMV requirements and that the terminals with the smart chip technology are going to be required. However, the requirement for these does not go into effect until October 2015. Also, almost every single merchant services processor in the market are changing the equipment supported by their free terminal programs to meet the new EMV requirements and most processors do offer free loaner credit card terminals. However, the free terminals are typically loaners that you have to return when you cancel your account.

Companies that are going to use completely un-ethical practices to obtain your business by PRETENDING to be your current card processor to TRICK you into doing business with them are likely going to be lacking in the service department after the sale is complete and they have tricked you into signing on the bottom line. Why should they? They just tricked you into a 3 year service contract. You should be looking at more than just the bottom dollar when it comes to your merchant services. BBB ratings are a great place to start.

This company called and told me they were my current credit card processing company and my credit card machine was out of compliance and I needed a new.  Then they put me in a new contract with their company and send out a new terminal.  Turns out my credit card machine was not out of compliance and they lied.  This business tactic is shady and I am currently in a lawsuit with them right now.  If they call you be aware that they are FRAUDULENT.

They are not even BBB accredited and have had almost 100 complaints in just one year.  Look at their RIPOFF REPORTS!!!  How are these guys in business?   ***DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE IF THEY CALL***

Apparently you are comfortable doing business with a company that makes misleading and deceptive sales calls. I sure wouldn't be, no matter how low the merchant fees might be. Good luck with them.

They have called my business and spoken to one of my employees several times. They claimed to be our CURRENT card processor and 'just needed a copy of our current merchant statement to make sure our equipment is compliant.' I found that very strange, so I called back and eventually got them to admit that it was a cold call - no relationship to our business at all. What a bunch of con artists!

Jason, i actually do not work for them i own my own business that i have inherited from my parents. And i have listened to the message several times myself. I was very mean the first time I called in. But they did do a rate and fee review for me, i was currently with Elavon and they were raising my rates. And there are recent changes in the law, we all use the internet so lets do some research. Look up the durbin amendment. Interchange actually lowered last year so your rates should of gone down including your debit rate. So instead of brushing this off lets all do some research before we make assumptions.

Trying to con me into changing my credit card terminal at "no charge". Uses scare tactic of "due to recent changes in the law". I added them to the list on my phone that comes up "do not answer" on my caller ID.

Kim, I would be willing to bet you work for them and posted to try and "smooth over" their shady appearance.
I listed to the message they left me very carefully several times.  They use shady tactics to mis-represent who they are and scare you into becoming a customer of theirs.  Save money or not, tactics like that is not who I want to do business with.

This number is a credit card processing company, your right they do call and try to lower down your rates which they do. i sent my statements and found out my rates were high and they ended up saving me $300. Ya their message is annoying but after taking the time out to see that i was being over charged i ended up saving money in the end. Also for a processor to hand out the new smart card technology for no charge and saving me money, you would be stupid not to do this. And all of you thinking its a scam, when it hits 2015 and you need this terminal you will have to pay for it. i got mine for free and saved money.

Also told us we were not PCI compliant and something was wrong with our terminal even though my merchant services is my bank, and i most definately am PCI compliant and paid the $80 fee to prove it. I think this is a scam to get you to go over to their merchant services, but I would never do business with somebody that has to resort to scared tactics. Run!!!

Got a recording saying that due to changes in compliance, we may not have the right terminal for our credit cards.  Said to call to see if we needed a replacement which they would provide at no cost.  Called and a man said the name of their company was Merchant Services.
