I have not answered as they always call when I am work.  I decided to look it up today since they never leave a message and so this site.

Auto-dialer of some kind, it seems. We picked up once by accident and now do not, but still get this number on our trace log every so often. We are on the DNC list, and will report this number.

They called twice yesterday in two hours.  We were not home.  They did not leave a message. I then looked back at the history of calls on my phone they have been calling for at least a month but they have never left a message.

I got a call from this number today, yes, it's Verizon- they called to let me know I'm eligible to up grade my phone. I apprieciate them letting me know since I thought I'd have to wait until Nov. No one is trying to sell you anything.....it was simple to let me know I could up grade early if I wanted. I said I'd have to go into the local Verizon shop to check out the new phones and that was it. Chill people.

Same experience as most other folks getting these calls...set my cell ringer to "No Ring",  as with other pesky numbers.  Sorry to hear that Verizon may be behind this.  So much for customer appreciation!!!  Too bad there isn't a better provider around...I'd change in a minute!!!

No Message - keeps calling my cell phone

I have found answering your phone Pizza Hut, may I take your order or any other type of establishment will stop your calls.  Try it is has worked for me!  No more calls from this number since I answered this way !   So nice to have peace and quiet !

I am familiar with company from inside sources and it is fully legite and extremely secure. You can trust all info from them and they are with verizon wireless as they say when talked to.

I am on the DNC list and do not know why this number is still calling and soliciting.  It is Verizon wireless; my own wireless provider, selling some kind of additional service.  PLease don not call me.  Send me something in the mail if you want to inform me of new products.

They have only called once so far but thanks to Shawn we will not answer it. Thank you. ^^

I have received numerous calls on my cell phone from 800-470-0768.  I called the number from my home phone and the person answered as "Verizon Wireless".  I asked why they were calling and was told that Verizon Wireless calls customers occasionally to offer new calling plans for people who are frequently over their minutes.  I never use more than 50% of my allowable minutes - so hung up immediately.  

I called Verizon Wireless to report this call, but was not able to get very far.  I was told that Verizon Wireless does indeed employ call centers to contact customers to offer new calling plans.  

I am still skeptical and will not speak to the mystery people who are calling from this number!

Continually getting a call from this #.  Sometimes 3x/day.  Very annoying-

This IS Verizon Wireless- this is the same number I use to call them about my plan- it IS safe- stop freaking out.  They called me b/c they are giving me an ADDITIONAL $50 rebate on a new phone- on TOP of the regular $50 rebate- so... stop worrying- this is a 100% legit verizon wireless number from their customer service center.

no, it is not some trap that eveyone has fallen for...
but it will take a bit longer than 30 days to get the calls to stop... reason being it takes 30 days to get on the do not call list for their telemarketing dept., but by this point a new call list may have been generated and fowarded to the telemarketers themselves.  
while i find telemarketing really annoying, i have friends who (in times of economic downsizing) have taken any job they can, including as telemarketers.  these people are just doing their jobs trying to make a living.  and as i said earlier, this *is* verizon, so at least you know that they aren't scamming you (however unwittingly).  just politely and patiently tell them "no," and if they keep going, say i am sorry and hang up.  usually works.  Sometimes they only keep talking because a supervisor is standing there or listening in on the call.

A loophole in the do Not Call list is that if you have EVER done business with a company or organization then that company/organization is exempt from don't call restrictions. What i don't understand is what makes these people believe that someone will react positively to a barrage of unwanted calls from people that will not even allow their company name to be displayed on caller ID. Verizon and Time Warner are two of the biggest offenders.

It's Verizon Wireless, I just called them and asked to be removed from their list. No Problems.

Work phone rang once & hung up.  Called the number back & it's Verizon Wireless.....

Slander would be SPOKEN defamation, which clearly is not the case.

For those of you on the Do Not Call Registry: Because this company is a sub-contractor of a company that you may have a pre-existing business relationship with, they are exempt and may call you.

"Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request."

Yeah I got the calls as well and just decided to answer one today.... THEY are working on an automated dialer, so it takes a couple seconds for them to connect to the call.. They are a contractor working with Verizon to try and sell you miscellaneous Verizon related crap that you don?t have already.  I asked the lady to take my name off the list.. SHE was very nice and said it may take up to 30 days to be off the list, but it will happen... So this number is not some malicious company trying to harm you? They are sales people trying to sell you stuff. They most likely will be nice.. Just ask them to remove you from their list and they will?

This number calls 4 to 5 times a day - every day. So annoying.

They have been calling me ALL week!  I answered once and they hung up on me.  I am not calling back.  I do have a verizon wireless account but why would they hang up?  I will just keep ignoring the calls.  If it persists I will be calling verizon to complain.  Sounds like a scam to me!

What do ya know, they wanted to tell me i needed to renew my subscription. they have a way with words..............

I never answer calls from non-recognized numbers.  They must leave a message from me to call them back.

Just makes common sense.

We receive calls from this number.  When we answer these calls, they hang up.  I wonder if they would leave a message on our voice mail if we let the calls go unanswered?  I know it is Verizon Wireless and why would they be calling us?  We are already Verizon customers many times over.
